Time will tell if this and Wistoria can be popular later. Wistoria definitely seems to be the more popular of the two sleeper shows you picked up from what I can see though

The rapid sequence of events might cause many people to overlook the significance, but the Kamakura Shogunate was the powerful regime that famously repelled the Mongol invasions twice and ruled Japan for over 150 years. The fact that it was destroyed in just one month is truly astonishing.
Just as the Hojo clan had usurped power from the Minamoto clan, the Hojo clan was usurped in its final days and became a decorative champion with no substance.
Ironically, where the usurper of power was similarly usurped and weakened, a large-scale rebellion broke out, and both usurper and usurped fell together in a short time.
@@45stg18 and the cycle continues on, when the 15th Ashikaga shogun, Yoshiaki was used by Oda Nobunaga as a puppet shogun which deposed the 14th Ashikaga shogun. Then got Deposed himself when he revolted against nobunaga. He finally resigns his shogunate after Nobunaga's death and unable to get Hideyoshi's support. Becoming a monk until his death.
Hideyoshi was unofficial Shogun, until Tokugawa comes in.
Because only members of the Minamoto clan could become shogun, Hideyoshi was not appointed shogun, but instead ruled Japan through a different imperial court position called Kampaku.
Tokugawa claimed to be a descendant of the Minamoto clan (whether correctly or not), so he was appointed shogun and was able to establish a shogunate in Edo.

About 15 years ago, I went to the place where 800 members of the Hojo clan committed suicide (a temple called Tosho-ji in Kamakura).
Even now, 700 years later, the temple has not been rebuilt, and it is now a lonely place surrounded by lush trees.
This was created by the same mangaka who made Assassination Classroom. Matsui Yuusei.

The head that rolled down after the ball was his brothers, he was beheaded. The girl who was teasing him got violated and murdered. His father commited seppuku. The two guy who chased him died in battle.

Seppuku is a s*icide ritual to restore and/or maintain a samurai's honour. The procedure involves them slitting their own bellies, removing the blade and bleeding to death. It was usually done to amend a wrong or to avoid capture by the enemy.
I say this every time, but ever since Cloverworks got screwed into doing Promised Neverland S2 the way they did, every anime they put out since has felt as much like a passion project as they do an apology for something that wasn't really their fault. The love they put into their work is so clear and I'm always gonna be there for it.
A passion project doesn't have an awful production schedule lil bro, and this one ain't an exception, but of course the casual audience won't notice it (nor care about it).

In 1953 excavation(材木座遺跡), over 900 skeletons from the 14th century were dug up, which had sword, spear and arrow wounds, and had traces of having been left exposed to the wild elements for a while.
Now, there is a statue of the battle.
I suppose, that their descendants are watching, or, may be making this animation.

Just to make it clear: this anime/manga is based on actual history(so don’t look up the characters unless you want a spoiler), but it takes a lot of creative liberties by reinterpreting the facts, one of the examples of that is supernatural abilities(such as seeing the future), they are an actual thing that will be explored later on, the idea being that they didn’t make it into official history because most people didn’t believe in the supernatural

There are quite a few, such as a character that appears later on who’s very good at hiding his presence, this is because there’s almost no information about him beyond the fact that he existed, there’s a guy who was a really good archer so in the manga he has comically big eyes that give him superhuman vision, etc…Then there’s the “Divine Powers” which are a bit similar to magic in the Nasuverse, such that the more Humanity gains influence over the world the less magical the world gets, also Divine Power takes a toll on the user if they try to do stuff too outlandish(there’s a character who can cheat on gambling games as much as she wants, but creating a storm makes her eyes bleed)
Does the excesive stuff like skewering heads n sh really happen or only in the anime, like do they only k!ll the men? What happens to the women and children left? Are they taken cared of and respected?
@@Thorsanime00 Well, every rule has exceptions, but in general people wouldn’t make head skewers(they did pick up heads of important people to prove their accomplishments though) and because war is an universal language it’s safe to assume that civilians from invaded cities often suffered indignities, but that may vary depending on the army/commander

Yorishige Suwa was responsible for the "Ohohori" of Suwa-taisha Shrine. "Ohohori" is a descendant of the god Takeminakata and is a living goddess. At Suwa-taisha, the most senior priest of the shrine. At the age of eight, he ascended the throne as "Ohohori." and at the age of 15 he descended to become the samurai named ”Gokenin“ of the Kamakura Shogunate clan remained.
For the serialization, the author Matsui visited Suwa and observed and researched historical sites with the help of local people. Based on this, the story also incorporates customs unique to Suwa.

most people missed it cause its so fast but in 7:29 the head that got chopped was his half brothers (the red kimono kid that kicked the ball) you can see that since both the heads had longer hair and that was for nobility and also the white band that was holding his hair in a ponytail

I didn’t expect this to come out and read a bit of the manga. So glad to see them illustrate how hard he is to catch and how quick he actually is in fluid motion. And I love how they portray the faces so well. Also beautiful artwork of what feels like Japanese paintings at points.

Although there are some exaggerations and some original characters, the characters and story are based on historical facts. The period is about 260 years before the time of "Shogun."

The successors of the Hojo clan never became Shogun.
Instead, they held the title of "Shikken," the regent of the Kamakura Shogunate.
For a long time, the Emperor was merely a puppet of the Shogun.
In turn, the Shogun was a puppet of the Hojo clan's Shikken.
Even a Shikken like Tokiyuki's father was manipulated by his own servants.
The megalomaniacal Emperor Go-Daigo grew tired of this puppet show and aspired to be a true ruler.
The Emperor's ambition influenced Takauji, who then awakened the plans for the Muromachi Shogunate.
This was the trigger for a chaotic tragedy.

There are two different Hojo, this one is the Earlier-Hojo meanwhile the Later-Hojo is during the Sengoku Period seated in the Provinces of Sagami, Izu and Musashi.

9:50 If my memory serves me correctly, Samurai would often be paid rewards per head, so they would be collecting as many as they could. Daimyo or other lords would also preserve and display heads in special rooms or boxes.

Although heads were sometimes used as evidence of having killed a famous samurai (after a battle, a general would verify the identity of the head of a feat's subordinate and hand out a reward at that time), it was rare for the heads of ordinary soldiers to be collected in this way.
It is direction of the story.

I think that there's a lot of hidden 3d in the animation; if so, such nice cohesion.
