I've watched a lot of videos about these VSMs and I have yet to see someone take out and replace the main shaft. I'd sure like to see you do it Bob. Thanks for all the help.
Great videos you do Bob. Can you please make a video to show how to replace the 201K tension unit as a whole please. There are many videos out there on how to disassemble, clean and reassemble the 201 tension unit, but can’t locate one that shows which screws etc need to be removed to replace the tension unit as a whole! Thanks in advance.
Okay - now I have got to get one of the Craftsman offset ratcheting doodads. Before I thought the one with my Chapman was great, and it is and I'm not letting it go until it is prised from my cold, dead hands. But this demo has me convinced I really can justify getting a new tool for my kit. YAY!! (Let's face it, Bob - of course I always wanted one. It's just that now I feel I can justify it - so you have made my day.) ;-) (I might comment again - I was so chuffed at seeing this I had to comment before watching further!!)
When I first started working on machines and had less than no idea what I was doing someone wiser said to me "Whatever you do, don't take out the main shaft, it's just not worth it". Now I fully understand why they told me that. I'm very glad I heeded their advice! It was great though to be able to see how everything is actually working together in the one part of the machine that normally remains hidden.

Also using my hubby tools isn't a good idea since he wants the tools back when I finish. Well translation I am finish when the project is completed. I better go to the store get my tools if we want a happy 39 year wedding anniversary in June . 😅🤣
