Being American, I certainly have to agree with that. Britain has always had some of the most innovative and pioneering aviation technology...Vulcan, Harrier, Bucc, Spit , Meteor, Mossie, Lancaster......I could go on.
The Buccaneer was originally a Blackburn project. Blackburn were subsumed into the Hawker Siddeley group in the early 1960s and became the Brough Division of Hawker Siddeley. Most Bucaneers were built in the Hawker Siddeley era, including all the new builds for the RAF.
The greatest warplane of its generation. Built to last like brick shytehouses; solid, unbreakable. You guys MUST keep these three flying for 200 hundred years.
Such a shame Thunder City folded after the Lightning accident. Lets hope that ALL the airworthy aircraft from TC fleet find new caring homes that DO keep them airworthy AND flying!
@nolifemerc I can see your point. Given that 15,000 Norwegians collaborated with the Nazi's in WWII - many of them in the SS, you probably had the opportunity to operate some of the finest tanks of the war.
@geoac Hi. I am the film maker (Shortfinals Productions). The Thunder City Buccs almost always taxied with their wings folded. On aircraft carriers, for obvious reasons, they almost always taxied with their wings folded. I was wondering where you got your info.
I'm reading Dennis Healey's autobiography at the moment and he says the Raf should have had the Bucc instead of squandering millions on the TSR2.Mountbatten said the same.
@nolifemerc I don't quite agree. B-17a? Only one was made! The RAF made quite good use of the P-40 in all theatres of the war as did the Soviets with the P-39 in the east. Furthermore, I must say that P-38, P-51, P-47, P-61, B-24, B-26, A-26, F6F, F4U, SBD,SB2C, TBM, B-25, B-29, C-47, PBY, A-20, F8F and a whole lot more did not suck!
The Mustang was a design specified by the RAF , the USAAF had zero interest in the project until they saw how the RAF used them and pearl harbour occurred . Of note below 15,000ft the Alison engine P51 A "mustang" actually out performed the Merlin 266 engine used in the P51B "Mustang II" . RAF P51A were also fitted with 4 X 20mm cannon and 4 .303 machine guns compared to the 4 .50 used by the USAAF on the Mustang I and A-36 Apache (P51 dive bomber variant with dive brakes )
Some of the comentary not accurate! 3 of them flew together on many occaisions after Gulf 1. I was at manston when the entire fleet, maybe 20, not sure on exact figure flew over london For Queens Birthday. Now that was special! And was more like 1993
I told an American friend who I sim with about the Bucc and Red Flag 77 . he didnt believe me. so I went and found some Red Flag reports......hehehehehehe....... What a bird.....
@nolifemerc Mmmmm. If that's what you meant, you certainly weren't clear. Besides, as a foreigner, I gave high praise to British aviation (and still do). It's funny that you chose that moment to say American aircraft (even any American aircraft) suck. What's up with that? Learn some etiquette. Or should I say 'Etikette'?

"Dave stock and "Mike i miss you guys to this day. 🙌💪💪
@willbertdsgc It's a track called Cybersex, from the De Wolfe music library on a CD called Erotica.

@1007bernie These aircraft were restored and are based in South Africa, not USA.

Yes, Three. I made the film and flew in ZU-NIP, the Raspberry-Ripple one. And until last month, there were four Lightnings, until ZU-BEX crashed.
I think that was the ex Boscombe Down Bucc that was used for trials. I had the pleasure of working on these for 3 years on 237OCU
Sweet! Anyone know what song that is at the beginning?
@4xforum That is sad, 4x. I hope the mothballing will be done in a way that enables a rapid restoration in future years. These are Legendary aircraft.

@milosit rumour has it that if the A-6 wasn't around the USN would of brought it instead.
@AVMamfortas They are all now grounded and being sold. Thunder City is closed. Very sad.

Die Buc war auch bei den Deutschen Marinefliegern heiss begehrt, musste dann aber der F-104 weichen..
@milosit actually this is true p40 p39 early bombers b17a and divebombers somehow sucked.
Shame the UK CAA ( Campaign Against Aviation) wont let the lightnings fly here in the UK
