Check out the longest howl from Dawlish airshow. You had to be there. My brother was sick when one went vertical out of Exeter airshow. Happy days from sunny Devon.
I saw XH558 at a few airshows, her final UK tour & once she just happened to be flying parallel to the main road near our house. A patch of brown haze on the horizon, which turned out it was being led by the big delta, passed me at what felt like twice the height of the trees & off to the other horizon. The noise & sight of her was magical!
I see XH558 everyday when I walk my dog. It's permanently at doncater airport which I live near. They use to do engine run up down the runway every now and again, the noise is immense.
@bigmart1145 I need to make it up there to see her do that, did you hear about the on near Stratford that does high speed taxi runs? She overran the end of the runway & ended up her nose over the hedge next to the road outside 😂 All fixed now I think
I’ve physically touched it’s landing gear when they had a hangar visit on at Doncaster used to see it flying around all the time i only live 5 miles from the airport 😂
A few design changes would make the difference. Modern style after burning engine nozzles, a more flush frameless cockpit etc. Do that and you’ve got a very modern looking aircraft. Amazing this thing was designed in the 50s, and a shame what’s happened to our aviation industry since then
That famous howl, such an amazing bomber I highly recommend going to Stockport to fly the vulcan simulator. It's such a shame the next generation will never see this or concorde fly and never witness some of Britain's best engineering feats
What a beast! Some time in the '90s, I drove through Merced, California, and saw some large military aircraft near the side of the road. It was the Castle Air Force Base museum. I stopped to check it out. It was all outdoors and no one was around. I took my time, snapped a lot of photos, and touched many of the planes. One of them was an Avro Vulcan! I couldn't believe my luck! They also had a B-17, a B-36, and a B-52, along with many smaller planes. The Vulcan has held a special place in my heart ever since I saw it in Thunderball.
I've always been into the Microsoft Flight Simulator. But i got older, my hardware, too. So I'm not active anymore. Still impressed by the performance of the actual version. This is beyond reality. Quite literally. Just epic. Keep it on, I'm feeling quite comfortable being a passenger 😉
My favourite plane Im so lucky to say I got to see her fly many times and was the plane that got me into going to air shows. As a kid me and my friend was playing at a park close to my home. The Vulcan came over the top of us. We had no idea what it was but were stund by it. It did a few passes, even with the bomb bay open. When I went home, I told my dad what we had seen. Later that year, we went to Bournemouth air show as the Vulcan came I shouted thats it, that's the plane. I couldn't believe the sound. That was that I became hooked on air shows.
Excellent video. I was very pleased to hear how accurate the intake howl was. I got to see a real one demonstrated at an airshow at SAC airbase near Omaha back in the '70's. The only plane that comes close to being as impressive in a demo is the F-22.
Now these new passenger planes have camera views. I don’t watch movies anymore. I just stare different views like the one from the tail camera. Best entertainment ever 🎉
Had the privilege of seeing this amazing piece of equipment in flight 5 times, watched her last flight too. The howl in person is so chilling and scary, image hearing that way up high and then the next thing you know, boom 💥
Nice video ,the lovely Avro vulcan ,is the most beautiful aircraft off all time and I will miss lovely avro vulcan xh-558 alot and sadly England will never make those great planes ever again 😢😢😢😢
Saw the last flight of the Vulcan in person. You’ve never heard anything like it, makes a normal jet sound like a lawn mower. It’s like Zeus has just ridden a thunderbolt passed you
I worked at Gaydon (JLR) when this was in flight, i never forget the moment this thing 'crept over' a building....like t-rex in jurrasic park. Then it howled off!
Fantastic video. My dad actually built Vulcans at the Woodford factory in Manchester. I love flying this in msfs. And this was really well done. I wish I had your ski.l with the camera's
Breathtaking machine..just looks unstoppable. I was inside the cockpit of the survivor at Norwich Airport one time..they were fiddling with the external power trolley unit and suddenly all the dials woke up..well impressive...visited the one at Newark also..but no dials that time..
Seen the vulcan many times as a youngster when my late mam and dad used to take me to the airshows at Teesside airport, unforgettable memories of both mam and dad and the big delta.
@@marcperron6633 No it isn't. Stop lying! The V bombers were British!! Avro Canada wasn't even Canadian. It was a subsidiary of Hawker Sidley aircraft. Also British. Stop trying to steal other people's history!

Such a shame she's grounded now. But all good things come to an end. So glad they made a really good sim of her. (just a shame the chute release isn't realistic). Superb.
You basically put everything I was thinking into this message, only I got to watch XH558 operating out of RAF Lyneham a fair bit. It was so amazingly graceful, and I remember the howl from there and countless air shows at RAF Fairford and at Farnborough growing up. By the time I was flying the V bombers were all gone, and though I loved my time in the Typhoon, the Vulcan is one big bird I’d love to have experienced. You were also spot on about the chute. It was the one bit of this video that felt frustrating after everything else seemed so realistic (though I’d have liked the refuelling to have been behind a Victor for old time’s sake)
Nicely filmed. The howl sounded good BUT when you've been present for the real thing, it's just wrong watching and hearing the Vulcan without the organs in your chest vibrating. The smoke from the engines isn't done so well be MS either. Well flown though.
I glimpsed her for about 3 seconds between buildings as she flew over Brighton for the last time. About 6 months later I mentioned this to my sister, who lives in a village near Sywell in Northamptonshire - who said she’d been sick to death of this babe endlessly flying circuits over her house practicing formation flying in the run up to the display season. If only I’d known at the time. Gutted!
The remarkable thing is this was built 20 years after the spitfire which was 20 years after the era of biplanes, the RN even used biplanes to sink the Bismark. Sometimes it feels as if progress has gone backwards in this generation.
On the 20th November 2022 I went to Robin Hood Airport to see - or rather hear, because I didn't buy a ticket - them run the engines up on this thing one last time, there was quite a notable amount of people there.
I believe they modelled it from XM655 in the next county to me, a lot of work went in to it for sure. They took photographs and scans of pretty much everything you can think of. I've still not tried it, but it's on my shopping list.
Lovely video, lovely flying! Strange they made a typo on the main undercarrage door, with the registration at 0:45 saying "ZH558" by mistake. Can you use custom skins with the Justflight model?
Thank you! The paint I used in the video already comes with it. In the simulator menu it is described as Avro Vulcan B Mk.2 VTTS (Olympus 200) (XH558, 2010)
I watched an interview in the late 80's that involved either an air marshal/captain/pilot (long time ago now) stating that IF the Vulcan had been given permission to fly over Buenos Aries during the Falklands conflict (with afterburners) it would have had a 'significant effect' on the Argentinian's opinion on said invasion.

@@olivere5497 No. At most you can only use them for aesthetic visuals, but they are not usable like in DCS.
