Not gonna lie, that Togedemaru ejecting out on the last perish song turn after enduring a precipice blade from the primal Groudon was one of the coolest things in history of VGC.
Can someone explain to me in a simple to understand way what happened with the Perish Count/Encore move? It looked brilliant but I don't quite understand it. I haven't been hardcore into Pokemon since like gen 2 so there is a lot I don't understand about the newer stuff. Watching these videos has helped re-spark my interest in Pokemon though.
@@1survivor566 Encore forces the opponent Pokemon to lock itself into the last move it used. So if your opponent uses Calm Mind and you use encore, he's kind of forced to Calm Mind for the next 3 turns. As for Perish Song, well if a Pokemon uses the move then all the Pokemon that are on the field will perish/faint in 4 turns, including the Pokemon that used the move. But if anyone switches out their Pokemon before those 4 turns are over then the move won't have any effect on that Pokemon so the move is kind of useless and is mostly used to force the opponent to switch their Pokemon. But the move works very well with mega-Gengar because it has the Shadow Tag ability where in the opponent cannot hard switch out their Pokemon unless it is a ghost type or has the same ability. They can however switch out using moves like U-Turn and Volt Switch though..
@@1survivor566 Also, the strategy worked like this: Gengar & Incineroar would both stall out the first turn with protect, then knowing that Gengar would be attacked it'd switch to Primal Groudon, a very bulky monster, then Incineroar uses U-turn so Gengar can switch in again and put the shadow tag again but now without the perish count (because it just swapped out). Finally the last turn is stalled out again with protect and the rival loses two Pokemon already.
