*When Brooke first brought DeeDee home, she put her in the barn & said DeeDee barked her head off. That was the reason for bringing her into the house... Maybe DeeDee was kept alone in a garage & that's why the barn gave her so much anxiety. And maybe she remembers the sound of the garage door meant she was going to be locked up again*
Maybe she’s remembering something awful that happened to her before that upsets her! I know my little guy has had a problem with young men around 17 years old with the hair a little longer I believe he was abused! My grandson was 16 I think when I got him and my grandson couldn’t talk or move without him growling and he wouldn’t take his eyes off him! Now it’s been 11 years now and he finally doesn’t go crazy with my grandson lol. Maybe that’s last thing she remembers when the person dumped her!!! Sweet girl I don’t understand how anyone can just dump an animal!! For sure it’s the best thing for her she has a forever home where she’s loved!!!!!!
That’s interesting. I have a 6 pound poodle and she is like that with the vacuum, not as bad but she try’s to attack it every time. I know she hasn’t had any trauma as I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks ago. She very well could have had something bad happen to her that included a garage door.😢
Brooke yes I feel the same as others. There is a security beam that can be installed on garage doors to prevent the door from ever coming down on her. It’s a light beam and they work great but she becomes so aggressive. Wondering if some of the good dog whisperers could help. I think you are doing everything possible to help her calm down. Hoping DeeDee eventually feels safe. ❤
Maybe not trauma. Does your garage door opener make a grinding mechanical noise 😢 when acvtivated? She may think the door is growling at her. I once had a dog that thought the bathtub growled at her when empting because the drain burgled. She would jump in the tub and carry on the same as DeeDee. I learned to close the door, problem solved
My little terrier acts the same way whenever my husband picks up the cordless drill. She loses her mind. Nothing has ever happened to her with a drill...she was never hurt with it, scared with it or anything. She just hates that drill! They have their little quirks!
I agree with this. I've seen this behavior before with my dogs. My dachshunds used to go crazy anytime there was a change in the house, they would bark at it. The worst of course being the Vacuum Cleaner!
My Maggie hates a vacuum. When she hears the lawn mower, 4wheeler she goes nuts and starts attacking the wheels. She has literally jerked the push mower out of my hands. And as you said she has never been hurt by any of them or anything else.
My sister’s Corgi was notorious for not coming back into the house when he was called. All they had to do was start up the drill , and that dog would come and see you. He hated it.
My little Sheltie ripped the rubber right off our garage door. She would go crazy when she heard the garage door engage. I think it is the noise. The whole time it was going up or down she would go berserk! She never stopped being obsessed with it.
Our dog did the same with a vacuum. We had to put her on a leash and correct her every time she attacked. Turning it on and off several times and correcting her. Giving her praise and a treat every time she stopped attacking. After about 40 minutes she got the hint and doesn’t bother with it anymore.
My sister's little dachshund freaked out just about like DeeDee does over balloons. We thought a balloon had probably popped and really frightened her in the months before my sister got her.
@@poorthing each to their own xx I agreed with the lady who made the original comment only because I agree that this method works for all these type of actions and some have to be corrected to make sure the animal is safe as a elderly dog deedee can do with out breaking a tooth I’m sure putting her to sleep for a operation isn’t recommended at her age, but like I said each person can make up there own minds with their animal xx have a great night xx
Whatever it was it was not a traumatic experience for Deedee . You can see it in her whole body with the smiles and super excited whole body wagging tail. Her reaction to the other dogs is one of territory, plus to me it looks like she is enjoying a game. She is not scared of the door but has made her own game out of it.
Brooke you are doing a phenomenal job on the VW Van. I love the floor you picked out it’s not too dark and not too light. So glad you didn’t get hurt when you fell down due to the Ice. Take care of yourself Brooke because we love you and we want you to be around for a long time 😅😅😅
Nice flooring. Great job. 💖💖👍👍Garage door: I think it's like when a dog attacks the vacuum cleaner, Dee Dee is protecting you against a predator as she see's it. 💖💖👍👍💖💖
I have a small dog, my princess, that goes crazy like this when we open the house windows on a good weather day. We’ve had her since she was 10 weeks and out of the blue she started doing this around 2 years old. She is now 10 years old and still does it. I think it’s just something she doesn’t like, she is a princess after all. 😂 And it may be the same for DeDe, too, or something may have happened. Like you said you’ll never know. But she is now loved and safe.😊
I have Jack, my mini-schnauzer who attacks the vacuum cleaner and washing machine when it's to spin...I think it could be the sound that the garage door makes, right DeeDee❤
If you watch her when the door is opening, her tail is wagging, which is a happy sign in a dog. I think it's just a fun thing for her. As for her growling, my dog growls when I'm playing tug of war with him, but he's happy and his tail is wagging at the same time.
Dee dees demeanour is not of fear or protection, she exhibits excitement and liveliness (tail wagging, barking and biting)...she is enjoying it like some dogs enjoy trying to bite car tyres when they are moving...the noise and movement excites her and somehow ignites a basic instinct response in her.
She is protecting you from the garage door, or she was injured by a garage door and is attacking the garage door. Fantastic job on the flooring of the VW bus and love the plaid material for the seats. It’s going to be a good looking VW bus when you finish with it. Stay warm and hope you are feeling and doing better. Deedee is such a cutie, so happy with you.
You have to remember that animals, especially dogs, can her sounds that we can't!!! I think the garage door is probably making a high pitched squeal that only she can hear!!! Her ears are probably more sensitive than the bigger dogs!!! It's probably best Brooke to just accept the fact she's going to react & be careful with her when opening & closing the door!!!😊😊😊😊😊❤
Dee Dee is reacting to the garage door like she does to the vacuum cleaner. I don't think there is a way to fix that other than continuing to tell her no and hold her so she knows she is safe. At least the garage door stays in one place, lol. She probably chases the vacuum wherever it goes! Thank you for the the video Brooke. The fact that you didn't mention how you feel, I am taking that as a good sign you are feeling better still.
@@Dusk1962 God bless y'all down there. I'm in Rhode Island and it's cold here but we're set up for it. And used to it so it's just normal winter. Stay warm, stay safe. I'll be praying for you!

You are making really good progress on the VW Brooke! So glad you're doing better. The miracle well water is doing it's job. Have a wonderful day! Love y'all!💕
I have a pit bull who use to do that every time I turned on the mixer! I started showing her the mixer off, showing her it was not going to hurt me. Then I started turning it on without the beaters. She doesn’t go nuts anymore but she still runs to me, on high alert, when I running it! Silly dogs!
The contrast between her reacting to the garage door and being held and loved by you touches my heart. You embrace her idiosyncrasies with concern and caring.
Maybe the garage door or the switch may make a sound the human ear can't hear but the doggie can. It might hurt her ears. Also, you're really doing a fantastic job on that VW. I hope MC appreciates it and enjoys working with you and Jason to bring it up to the standard you all desire. I am very glad to see improvement in your health situation as well. Doing good!😊
I feel that Dee Dees' previous owners might have closed their garage door on her, briefly, causing her pain. Bless her heart, she is a mighty warrior, to be so tiny !! AND , YOU look just absolutely amazingly beautiful, Brooke !! Hoping all of your tests results are easily treatable, so that you will feel as beautiful as you look !! ❤
Maybe DeeDee was trapped by a garage door. Trapped with the door on top of her, holding her down for long periods of time while previous owners were away.
Great job on the VW bus floor, Brooke 👍❤️ I truly have no idea why Deedee reacts the way she does to the garage door. I would just figure it is what it is and leave it at that. 🤷♀️❤️🐾
Brooke, I think you're right that she was kept in a garage. Maybe someone mean used to come through the garage door, and she associates the door with that time of her life. She's probably trying to protect you from the bad person too. She's so lucky to be with you now. 🐶 ❤ Bramble, Sylvester and Biscuit will be sad when the VW transformation is complete. 🐈⬛ ❤ 🐈⬛
Maybe some sort of separation anxiety issue? Obviously it has to do with a traumatic experience from her past. We’ve rescued a couple of dogs that have had some idiosyncrasies. Much love to you’re family for giving her the best life ever ❤️
Hard to say why DeeDee attacks the garage door, without knowing her background it could be 1 of 100 things. It looks like it is pretty common and happens more than we think, starts when they are a puppy and if not corrected it can lead to obsession. There might be steps you can take to desensitize her to it. 💓💓💓💓💓
It’s obvious, to me anyhow, that precious little DeeDee has had traumatic experiences involving a garage door. Also, it seems like she has probably been locked up in the past, and left there all alone. It crushes my heart to even think about that 💔😔 She’s so very HAPPY now because she is with the best family on the planet 🥰❤️. Bless your sweet hearts, and bless DeeDee’s sweet heart ❤️🙏
You are right you will never find out what her obsession with the garage door. Therefore, you will never be able to fix the problem. The best that you can do is support her and keep her calm and safe.
Aww DeeDee is so cute! Maybe she thinks there is someone in the garage opening the door and she wants to let them know that she is there to save the day! Great job on the flooring in the van...it's going to look awesome with the seats all plaid in blue & green. Take care, keep warm & thank you for sharing Brooke🥰
I love the seat upholstery color and can't wait to see it on the seats. I've stayed with my daughter the past week in Cheektowaga NY and they got 7and 1/2 feet of snow and it's still coming down. School closed all week. Love to you all.❤
Dee Dee is very protective of her mama and its precious Brooke if she could talk to you it would how much she lives you and so thankful you took her in and helped her live her best life
Bus is going to look great when it's completed. Continued prayers for your health improvement.🙏 Prayers for Jami's recovery.🙏. Blessings to Mrs Cog Hill 🙏🫶🙏🫶. DeeDee may have been trapped by an overhead door at one point and no one rescued her 🤷
I’m not sure why DeDe attacks the garage door but my male chihuahua has always attacked the vacuum cleaner. As soon as he sees me get it out. He starts going after it and when I turn it on, he starts biting it. He has even nipped my calf once as I was vacuuming. I have had Bugsy the chihuahua since he was 2 months old and has had no trauma towards the vacuum cleaner . Yet he still goes after it. I always assume it might be the sound or vibration if it.
I love all the little projects you have been doing, Brooke!! You are very talented. I'm so glad that you didn't get hurt when you fell. It's so encouraging that the well water is helping you. Getting nutrients from food (water) sources is far superior to taking vitamins and supplements. Getting away from bottled water will do your body wonders. I just read an article this morning about new research that shows the nanoplastics in water and other beverages is far higher than previously expected. The types of nanoplastics are now identifiable also. They are attacking the body, causing cancers and other diseases, including immune diseases. I look forward to watching you as you continue on your journey with both the water and your medical care. ❤❤❤ As for DeeDee, I truly think she thinks it is a game when the door goes up. Watch her body language. She is prancing and wagging her tail. Now, it could also be the sound that bothers her. Test her with other things that make a similar sound, like the vacuum, weedeater, drill, chainsaw, etc. We have a Silky Terrier that will attack the vacuum, chainsaw and weedeater in the same way. We have to make sure she is not outside when my husband uses the outside power tools because she has broke free from my grasp and gotten too close to both the chainsaw and weedeater and ended up with (fortunately) minor injuries from both because she attacked them. Even after being hurt, she went right back to attack mode. I really believe some animals are more sensitive to sounds. A lot of little dogs are bred to hunt vermin and I am thinking that the vibration or pitch reminds them of some prey they should be hunting. Just my theory...
Bus looks great 👍🏼 Brooke, don’t know about what happened to Dee Dee but something did. Maybe locked in garage for just having puppies 🐶 or maybe 🤔 someone that was going in through garage door wasn’t very nice to her. We adopted a stray kitten few years ago & if he see’s a broom or long handle for a broom he takes off, the same with hard big shoes 👞 & vacuum. So I’m sure to make sure he knows & can leave b4 I use these items. I show him them by taking them out slowly to use. I know something had to happen to him. 🤷♀️😒❤️
Brooke the way Dee Dee acts isn't exactly aggressive yes she growls and grabs the door but her tail is going a hundred miles an hour like it is a squeaky toy she wants to rip apart and get the squeaky out. The bus is looking great by the way. Have a good one and may your days be blessed stay safe and warm.
I'm so happy to see that you are doing so well Brooke. I'm thinking it's your magic well water. Well, that's what I want to think anyway. I use WD40 on all sorts of stuff. It's amazing how that stuff works.
Dee dee is very MAD at that door‼ "She's in the red zone about it. It, like you said, you will never know why, just watch while she is around it as you already do. God bless y'all 🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️😉🐾
Glad you are feeling better. The V seeW is looking great. I can't imagine why DeeDee acts that way. I have a little dog as well. She goes and hides when she hears plastic rattle. When I come home from the store she hides until everything is put away. I got her at 4 weeks and we haven't done anything to make her afraid. God bless. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏
Your barn cats are hilarious. While you are talking all we see a tail going back and forth. Then Bramble stages up when the cardboard falls. You continue talking like nothing happened. You are the best.
Nice job on the VW bus Brooke!! I'd definitely think that your little Dee Dee had a traumatic experience with a garage door and honestly I don't know if you can fix that. It's kinda sad to think that whatever happened to her is still so fresh in her mind. Hopefully over time and consistent reassurance her memory will lessen. This was a great video Brooke and thanks for sharing. I hope y'all have a great day!
Diddy in the garage when you were explaining it I had no idea she was so vicious at it that definitely is a concern. I have no idea. But I’ve had a dog in the past who was really aggressive with my weedeater or my vacuum cleaner I thinking with him it was the noise, but I’m clueless with her because she’s really mad at it bless her heart❤
Brook if you are still coming to KY on Friday we are getting a snow storm starting Friday evening main roads are clean but side streets are slick Tennessee is the same be very careful ❤
Glad to see you melting away. Hopefully it won't re-freeze too bad overnight. Be careful in the morning. I love watching your real life videos with the cat knocking your stuff off😂. Poor Dee Dee must have been traumatized by a door.😢
So glad you didn't get hurt. How has this cold weather made you feel? It's a polar plunge without getting wet lol. Great job on the floor of the van. Bramble thinks he's helping. As far as DeeDee goes. This has to be from trauma from her life. Maybe she was shut under a door? Maybe a puppy farm. Maybe a mean person always came out of the garage? I am afraid, there is no way for her to get over it. Especially, not knowing what caused it in the first place. I would either not open the door around her, which would be hard to do or put her back in the house, which would be upsetting to her too. Hopefully, she will get used to it and it not bother her anymore. There is no danger at Cog Hill Farm for her. What about all of DeeDee's egg hiding. Hopefully you guys can find them all before they become stink bombs this summer. 🤮
I get such joy when I see you and DeeDee riding by on the tractor together. My dog goes crazy when she see the broom or mop. By the way, I love the VW floor and the cabinets do look beautiful, the cabinets look like new. When using the steel wool on the cabinets, I think I would go with the grain instead of circling around and causing scratches you will see later. I also love the fabric you chose for the Volkswagen seats. I’ve always thought you have such good taste.
Deedee does not seem to be acting aggressive, or in any other way, other than excited look at her little tail wag, I think she thinks it’s a game and the noise of the garage door starting up excites her. Maybe every time the garage door opened with her previous owners. They were going to take her for a ride and she gets excited. She don’t look anxious at all to me.
Way to go brook with your bad renovation of the bug! It looks so cute! I love the floor and the cabinets. And ya can always put a little throw rug with double sided tape to hold it in place. I think it looks so adorable! Good job.
Awesome job on the flooring and the cleaning of the cabinets. Just wanting to mention about the water, that it had magnesium in it, there is sure a thing as magnesium deficiency I read about it a few mouths back, you might mention it to your Dr. Sure hope the well water is still helping you. Have a safe trip this weekend. ❤
A dog's hearing is much more acute than ours, enough so it might be a case of she can hear something in the motor and it's irritating to her. A sound that she can obviously hear as she looks up to the left of the opening door, which I'm guessing is where the motor is...
DeeDee must of had a memory of a garage door. Lucky she safe with your love. Bus looks good Brooke take your time and watch out for items falling on you from your lovely cats
Hi Brooke, I hope all is going well for you. It's unbelievable you did this flooring. I would never attempt a project like that. Well done. ❤❤ I have no idea why she would do that. Dogs chase cars. Lester has a dog that smells the exhaust and will chase the car to get a sniff. So, who knows? Someone might have teased her when she was a baby with a garage door.
My dog does the same thing with the electric windows in cars and my parents electronic gate. I actually thing it’s sound related- not the motion. It may be letting out a squeal or noise that we can’t hear. With the gate I oiled the wheels and chain and even tho it was quite before it seemed to help the dogs reaction.
The VW Bus is coming along great! As for Dee Dee it will probably always be a mystery if something happened to her or maybe nothing. We had a small poodle when growing up. She was sweet and never hurt anyone, but when she heard the mail box flap that was the mail slot in our front door she went crazy. She bit the inside flap kinda like Dee Dee does with the bottom of the garage door. She shredded many an envelope in her days, and barked and ran around crazy for quite awhile. It was a mystery why she hated the slot being opened. Deedee is such a cutie!🤗💖
Thank you for showing the progress on the bus, your ideas are truly an inspiration to everyone. I think that maybe she had been injured by the garage door. Until your next video, Take Care and Stay Safe.❤❤❤❤
We had our sweet girl Luna for years. We rescued her from our local dog kennel, she was probably a couple years old (pit/terrier mix) when we got her. She would loose her marbles over fishing poles!!! Same way Deedee is! I always wondered too what happened that would cause her to act like that. There must be a reason, but unfortunately she could never tell us. We think she was used as a breeding dog and could only guess what happened to her. She had some behaviors that made us think she had been abused. We took her to our farm and gave her the best 12 years of her life. She was such a good girl💗 You’re doing a good job by holding her and keeping her calm when the door is in action. Cute little Deedee!!

My personal opinion on her reaction to the door is a time of trauma.
Garage door PTSD.
I sure jumped and so did my heart😂
Possibly previous owners were robbed by someone coming in the garage and it has traumatized her…. Bless her sweet little heart.

Dee Dee tails wagging, I think she’s just playing , just like her duck egg ~ she doesn’t seem mad just “giving the door a piece of her mind”😊
Dogs will attack and still be wagging their tails, which why tails can’t be used 100% to indicate a dog mood.

The contrast between her reacting to the garage door and being held and loved by you touches my heart. You embrace her idiosyncrasies with concern and caring.
Looks good Brooke 👍. Nice job! 😊❤
I love your Assistant, Bramble. Such a great Helper! LOL
I would imagine Deedee thinks the door especially the sound may be hurting you. She is protecting you.
Maybe DeeDee was trapped by a garage door. Trapped with the door on top of her, holding her down for long periods of time while previous owners were away.
Great job on the VW bus floor, Brooke 👍❤️
I truly have no idea why Deedee reacts the way she does to the garage door.
It crushes my heart to even think about that 💔😔
She’s so very HAPPY now because she is with the best family on the planet 🥰❤️. Bless your sweet hearts, and bless DeeDee’s sweet heart ❤️🙏
We get the freeze tomorrow! I’m staying inside this weekend! Much ❤️❤️❤️
You are right you will never find out what her obsession with the garage door.
Brooke you are so talented and practical.❤so happy you are feeling better!.
You did a good job with the flooring and the cabinets in the VW Bus. That's what we called it back in the day.
She has the reaction like she was either hurt or it ‘s a sign of danger to her or to you. The bus is coming along great, nice job👍❣️
I love the seat upholstery color and can't wait to see it on the seats. I've stayed with my daughter the past week in Cheektowaga NY and they got 7and 1/2 feet of snow and it's still coming down. School closed all week. Love to you all.❤
Brook, you are a trooper! Keep it up.
Glad to see you feeling good❤
Dee Dee is very protective of her mama and its precious Brooke if she could talk to you it would how much she lives you and so thankful you took her in and helped her live her best life
Hey, Brooke! Happy Thursday!! Dee Dee cracks me up!
As for DeeDee, I truly think she thinks it is a game when the door goes up.
Hi Brooke! The flooring looks great! You are one smart lady 👏👏! I bet MC likes it. ❤
Good job we know you can do anything you put your mind to ❤
Good to see your "velcro" fur baby doing well
Brooke the way Dee Dee acts isn't exactly aggressive yes she growls and grabs the door but her tail is going a hundred miles an hour like it is a squeaky toy she wants to rip apart and get the squeaky out.
My blue Heeler and Matese mix does it with the vacuum. He was a rescue dog at nine weeks old
I think she is playing with the garage door? Her tail is wagging. 😊
Ot looks nice I'm glad your feeling better now I keep you in my prayers and Jamie to just hope it continues for you both
Hello Brooke!! I Hope today is a good day for you!! God Bless!! You are Amazing 🌹❤️
Love your video! Still praying for you and your family. God bless. Good luck with DeeDee.
OMG! The Amazing Brooke triumphs again!
The floor looks great. Wow, what a change. Very cool. I bet MaryCarl loves it too.
Afternoon Brooke nice video glade your surviving the weather
Good job.
When I said bad.i meant good, like bad a** didn't wanna say that tho.wanna keep it PG. Lol
Flooring in the bus looks great Brooke.
She thinks something is trying to steal your door!
Oh my, we had so much fun in our VW camper van in the early 70s. Going up the mountains was a challenge, other than that, it was a joy.
Thank you all I enjoy your podcasts. Love Cog Hill Farms. God bless and protect you all always. 🙏
Thank you for showing the progress on the bus, your ideas are truly an inspiration to everyone. I think that maybe she had been injured by the garage door. Until your next video, Take Care and Stay Safe.❤❤❤❤
The plaid fabric will look superb on the seats and you’re doing a great job on the refurbishment. 🐨👍
The flooring looks great!
