Does it have a graphite neck like the 1980s models?

Good info, I just ordered one.I always wanted a carbon grafite original but the cost is WOW! If you can find them. They had as I'm sure you know a very distinct sound.I hope I like this newer version as I bought it on line.

i like them , i have a fretless honner b2af now and a hohner the jack..also and the spirits seem the same as the hohners ..👍🏻☮❤

Did you ever get to try the honer the jack bass? I loved mine! I miss it 35 years later☹️ it was active and awesome!

@@springy-2112 do you use it? Is it as good as I remember? Massive sound, sustain, and drive, or is it just me and nostalgia?

@@simoncooper8272 , yes the sound is huge and aggressive , but I have a confession.!
I made it fretless and cut down the body to a b2a size..i know , it's sacrilege..i have a series of videos in my bass playlist..
I also bought another hohner b2a for spares and I'm using the bridge and "nut" to build a short scale headless but based on the jack shape..this is in progress , also in the playlists under shirt scale headless bass..i feel ashamed that I killed a jack bass but I love the headless fretless I made from it !!
not sure what I'm going to do with the b2a that I robbed the parts for my current build..thats also a fretless..i may rebuild it with other parts and put frets in ..😲👍🏻☮❤

@@springy-2112 shame would have been awesome to keep it spec, but each to their own, I'm Glad you like what you did, it would be a travesty if you didn't,
So do you get flat wound double ball strings? Or you have other options like top clamp?

    • @springy-2112

@@simoncooper8272 ok on the fretless which was a fretted jack..i got flatwound double ball ends ..i can't remember where from maybe strings direct? But they were almost £50 inc.. ouch !!
strangely the fretless b2a I later bought to rob parts had roundwounds on .. on the short scale one im building I have a nut block thingy adapter from Anndertons music which works with the original double ball end nut thingy .And has steinberger stamped on it . It was about £25..expensive hobby this headless lark !
It's the only one I have found that works..i bought a couple of Chinese replacement nut converter jobbies but they were complete crap!!
so original nut thingy (hohner or steinberger ) and extra ANDERTONS thing on the end to take normal strings..in my case short scale fender strings..
I am collecting and building short scale basses after I broke my collar bone twice now , it helps with reach to the low notes .as lateral movement in my shoulder is really painful until I get it mechano fixed one day ..👍🏻☮❤
      ps. bloody spellcheck..

hello , no its a maple body and neck unlike the real one the L2 ...
the hohner b2a and this steinberger spirit both are licensed by steinberger..
this one has steinberger name and parts but is made by one of the gibson factory's I think the one where corts are made...
it's as near to the old L2 as poss ...

Did you see my other vids on the odd position it hangs when standing and my mod ?
Just in case you didnt know it falls about 1.5 inches to the left so the 1st fret is further away than a regular bass..

I've got an old Cort that I bought used for $50 probably 25 years ago or more. Old girl still rocks. Don't know if it's worth much but considering how much Steinberger style axes go for, I'm quite happy with it as I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to afford a new one.

Having a really thick neck is NOT a positive as far as playing is concerned. It really hinders your ability to to fret it with your fingers and even makes it slower to move from note to note. If they would make a neck with a nice fast and thin Fender Jazz Bass profile I’d love to buy one but until then, it’s just a giant pain in the ass.

    • @springy-2112
      @springy-2112  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      okey dokey then !
I have a fender jazz bass , and and 2 jaguar with jazz neck and about a dozen other basses they all play differently , but 5 minutes on each and I get used to them . I'm building a headless with a jazz profile and width neck . so I guess i too prefer the smaller neck.
I think it's horses for courses. But I'm okay with most after a few minutes.
