Lucia Butler talks to Ray Lynam in Conway's 3 IN London for www.irishcountrymusicradio.com on the Saturday the 15th of June 2013. Ray is a gentleman indeed with a wonderful voice.
Ray and the lads were my favorite country band back in the early 70's. In 1972 I had the pleasure of meeting Billy Burgoyne (drums). I was working as a Cabinet Maker and put some built in cabinets in Billy's house in Athlone. Billy talked about the bands visit to Nashville, Tennessee. Little did I know that a year later I would end up going to University in Tennessee on an athletics scholarship.
I was raised on Ray Lynam and the Hillbillies by my parents. He was my dad's favorite and later in life he has become mine. I hope Ray will play here in the New York area sometime soon. I even sing "I Don't Want to See Another Town" inspired by Ray Lynam!
