- I have been loving using watersoluble graphite for the last few weeks and my art freind Emma mentioned that I might like the Derwent Graphitint Paint Pans. So I grabbed a set to try out :)
I am also drawing some greyhounds for Doggust, which is a daily art challenge over on Instagram where you draw a dog every day in August.

Oooh maybe one day! It would be fun to do a story about sogs, they are fun to draw :)
Love your dogust. I have the graphitint paint pans. I keep forgetting about them and then think... hey! Those are cool. Love what you did with them today. I used for landscapes so far.

lovely! we received the graphitint paint set in a scrawlr last year I believe, ive loved them since. a great set of muted colours, im sure you will love
Oh nice! I stopped scrawlr box a few years ago but they have some good finds sometimes. Just a lot of junk most months though 🙈 I remember one month was stationery month and it was literally a ballpoint pen, a pencil and some highlighters 😂
I have these pans and love them. Meadow is definitely my favourite. Love the dogs!

Great vid and super useful review. I had this in my wishlist but I don't think I'll get them after all - like you I'm in LOVE with the ArtGraf and I don't like the idea of tiny little pans. Thank you for sharing!
Do you have the tailor shapes by art Graf too? You may like those as they are big blocks and have some similar colours. All yellows and browns and reds.
Lovely doggos! While this was the first video of yours I've seen, it feels like the Graphitints are perfect for your style. Really made me want to buy some for myself. 😅 I only have one, got it as a freebie/tester from somewhere (Cultpens?). Agreed, 1/2 pans are way too small!
They are super fun to use! I want to keep to just graphite for the rest of the challenge but I’ll definitely be using them after. I think landscapes would be so fun with them.
Gansai Tambi has a six color set that has the big size pans.
I have a few Gansai Tambi sets, they are lovely!
I'm glad you enjoyed using them. It was really interesting to see how you used them as I've not seen many people with them. Not sure which is my favourite colour - they all make me happy with their mutedness 😁. I've got the 12 set of pencils too but haven't used them as much as the pans.

Love your little doggo series! They are darling. How are is this graphite medium different than watercolor?
Thanks! I am enjoying them :) I’m not too familiar with watercolour but I’m guessing it’s to do with the pigments? Like the watercolour would be a pure colour pigment while the graphitint would be pure graphite with some colour mixed in.
I have that set but use normal paint brush with it , it’s my go to set when doing brick work . Lovely little set and the colour range is ok but a 24 set would be fantastic.

Love your style, your sketch book spreads will make great art prints, when are you planning your next live paint/draw along?

Interesting set. Love the carefree way you work, I want to try to channel you when doing my work to be a little looser. 😆 If they are anything like watercolours, you could try to put a few drops of water on them and let it sit for 5 minutes-ish, might help soften them up a bit.
I’m not sure if they could be softened like that, but I know what you mean. I do that with my Gansai Tambi Metallica. They love a good watering before use 😂 I’ll try it next time!
Tiny pans annoys me as well but I learned to not care when I accidentally pick up some of the near colors or get the other colors contaminated 😅
Yes I’m the same! Even with big pans like Gansai Tambi, I am always smooshing the colours together 😂
