I think the double-bladed saber staff is the best lightsaber there is due to its unique versatility. You can use the staff with both blades at once to be twice as effective, you can start with one blade and activate the second mid-combat to surprise your enemy, or you can split the staff in two and duel weild a saber in each hand. You can even switch between all three mid-combat to surprise and confuse your enemy.

Have you considered the possibility of "split break" saberstaves? Staves that you can mid fight split into two single bladed lightsabers. If so, what are the possible combo moves when incorporating both dual wielding and double blading?
A lot of this looks very similar to what I learned in a PE class I took for Arnis Stick Fighting, specifically the bo staff segment of the class. It's kind of cool seeing stuff you recognize.
Isnt it amazing how times change? 20 years ago we would have been called nerds and potentially beaten up for this stuff. Now? Anyone who makes fun of this stuff doesnt have the gall to try it themselves. Practicing with a saber staff or any alternative takes a toll on the wrists but is actually quite a nice work out.
Because of the fact that lightsabers nowadays is basically an actual sword, it takes a lot more than just "whack block whack". Swords and weaponry in general are pretty good upper body workouts. Your lower body gets less of a workout but it's definitely still there with footwork.
I really think star wars as our future, 800-900 years from now. Just imagine the reaction of Exar Kun,Satele Shan, Darth Maul, Pong Krell, Inquisitors and any other lightsaber staff user to these tutorials- "So, this is how our ancestors taught people lightsaber forms? Literally with a tubelight like toy?" And imagine the information of this video- Uploaded 900 years ago. 😂😂

I think with a double bladed lightsaber it's best to stay locked with your oponents blade and swipe up, that way they cannot block the second strike in the event a deflection doesn't knock them off balance.
I’m a martial artist and pretty good with a staff, though mildly rusty from quarantine. The twirl is good, but you want your staff cutting lower or you’re leaving your ankles wide open. Severed Achilles’ tendons are not a fun time. Also, having your thumbs facing each other instead of forwards like in some of these is VERY limiting unless you really know what you’re doing.
I love the saberstaff for many reasons, the main one being how rare it is,seriously the only jedi I know that did use a saberstaff are Cal Kestis,Bastila Shan,Satele Shan,Revan and Exar Kun,only some of the most experienced and high level users of the saber can use a saberstaff to great effect,its hilt though is a large target and can be cut in half if the user is unlucky enough, Exar Kun however has rectified that weakness and made the hilt like that of a standard lightsaber so it'll be far more difficult if not impossible to cut
The one where you deflect with one part of the saber then swing the other part over to bop the opponent on the head is pretty martially unsound. You literally already have your blade over his and could just thrust to the body or face with the part you parried with. Exactly at 3:03 you can just thrust and defend with the same blade in the same motion.
Even by watching this i see Qui-Gon died just by giving up his saber as a real idiot. Obi-Wan's choreography was a lot better with awesome positions. The double saber is better for solo movements but uncomfortable for fighting, the time you get to execute those rotations gives your opponent time to put himself on defense. The swing looks faster to execute in a real fight

As soon as you hit once you can immediately hit again with the second Sabre much faster than anyone can with one blade. Also Qui Gon didn’t just give up his Sabre. What are you on about. It was pushed away from the hilt and then immediately got hit in the face and stunned. If you think he just gave up Sabre then you REALLY don’t know much about martial arts. And you think a double bladed lightsaber isn’t comfortable then you either don’t know how to use one or have never heard of staffs which were highly used weapons in fight

I saw many videos about double bladed saber duels and there's a big difference between a real battle and a solo demonstration, but it's definitely the hardest weapon to use for a real fight, this explains why despite its beauty it has been abandoned in the next movies. In martial arts there's no such weapon as a double bladed saber but you have the staff, where you can hold the full weapon without caring about lasers on the two sides.

@@znightowlz6585 The double sided Inquisitor blades are one handed, they're one handed so the user doesn't accidentally chop off his left arm with the automatic spin that's in it. With the single sided Inquisitor blade it's much longer and able to be used as a staff, the double sided is really useful even though its one handed since you can clash and then use your parry to deflect their saber, allowing you to pull back the staff to thrust a blade into their gut, head, or singular knee.

we are like 185 cm tall. For your best experience, if you want to spin the staff a lot, don't make it longer than yourself. Anyway, 32'' blades and 10'' handles are usually the shortest things you can get.

depends how tall you are. Staff shouldn't be longer than you are, so if you are like 180cm (5.9f) 80cm (32inch) blades can already be a bit long to do some tricks like rotating the staff behind you.

Tip: if you want to be better at this go to weapons training at a martial arts school and learn boa staff. It's helped me a lot.

I hope you don't mind me asking but how tall are you and how long are those blades. I'm about to buy a lightsaber staff myself and I would like to know before I get it
we are like 185 cm tall. For your best experience, if you want to spin the staff a lot, don't make it longer than yourself. Anyway, 32'' blades and 10'' handles are usually the shortest things you can get.

depends how tall you are. Staff shouldn't be longer than you are, so if you are like 180cm (5.9f) 80cm (32inch) blades can already be a bit long to do some tricks like rotating the staff behind you.
