I use to be a pest control applicator (technical name in Virginia) and loved spraying Spekoz Evercide from my BG sprayer. Sadly I believe it has been discontinued in the last 10 years but that perimeter spray treatment did its job effectively and never once had a callback after application. I would only apply granules if the customer was complaining about an upsweep in pest sightings. I am no longer a tech but the knowledge I retained on applications to tool usage as well as crack and crevice treatments is priceless. I do my own pest control on my own property (to be clear) and it saves money!

So if your lawn sits partially up on a hill, you can't use the granules in those areas because when it rains it will go downhill?

Aside from bifen granules, do you use a general insect bait around the perimeter? If so, which one do you use for general insect control?

Intice 10. Higher percentage of active ingredient, broader label than Niban and still a "green zone" product. I switched from Niban and will never go back.

I usually spray a non-repellent about 2 feet wide to the foundation and pour granules along the perimeter of the home. If they havent seen ANYTHING for a month or two i switch to a repellent

  • @heavymechanic2

After ants invaded the kitchen, I used some RTU insect spray around the perimeter of the house and followed up with a premium lawn treatment granule. No more ants after 2-3 weeks.. Its not rocket science but requires more than one application to be effective, per label instructions.

I'm a licensed pest control technician and chicken feeding your granules like that never gives you even coverage, always use a bulb duster for spot treating or simply use a spreader.

Granules are not dusty and therefore spray outward from a spreader and not toward the applicator.

I treat a lot of basements in a big city. I wear my respirator anytime i am in a basement because 1. insecticide smell bothers me, and i dont want to get sick in an enclosed space. 2. these basements many times have code violations, asbestos lead etc. 3. i dont want to smell rodent feces or dead rodents in these basements. in apartments i wouldnt normally wear my respirator, but during COVID, i wear a respirator IF i have to do an apartment. As soon as i do my first building, i put it on, and it stays on the whole day for the most part.
