Our rivalry dates back to the 1980s when both of us......Ethiopia and Kenya became great at what we do. it is healthy and because of that, each country has been better because of the other. Obiri won the race and then ran around the track in celebration like she’d just stepped on the track AND she was hardly sweating! Meanwhile those Europeans who finished behind her fell on the ground in pain.😂 Those Kenyans are something else.😂 I
Watching this before I go for my run, I could never run fast like Obiri but she is goalsss!!! So far my best 5k has been 39:50. I’m hoping to top it wish me luck 😀
Unless you're training for high level competition where money is involved, running is one of the worst things you can do for your body and articulations. Don't run 5ks, find something else to do. You'll thank me when you're older
This is the perfect race. The commentary, the athletes, the level of competition, the stadium, the spectators, everything juts melds together to form an entertaining race. No stupid tactics or boring commentators.
In Kenya it's not news when we win big races. It's news when we loose. We are not used to loosing and we don't like loosing. Congratulations Helen..our girl..our pride.
Kenyan athletes are hardworking and wiser in the way they use their income…more generous, loyal, and responsible. So, we too are pleased when they win.

As an Ethiopian, the only time I’m not sad to watch us lose is if we lose to a Kenyan or a Ugandan. Then it’s still feels like our glory. We have a long standing brotherly camaraderie with the good people of Kenya, we love them. I am happy to see in recent years that our Ugandan friends have joined the party.

One of the best things Vivian Cheruiyot did apart from winning multiple Gold medals for Kenya was to nurture Helen Obiri. Janeth Jepkosgei gave us Eunice Sum in 800M, Vivian gave us Obiri. Proudly 🇰🇪
The commentator had probably seen it coming. Obiri has the experience of middle distance running which needs a bit of speed. By keeping up with Ayana's resilience of long distance running, Obiri would definitely outsprint Ayana in the last lap.
I particularly like the closing remarks of the commentators: it was so remarkable, from a distance running fan’s perspective, to see Hellen Obiri and Almaz Ayana being courageous, pushing it from early on and pouring their hearts out in the battle for the win 👍
