If you have L-XL hands go with the PM2, Para 3 for S-M hands. Another benefit of the Para 3 are state laws that require 3 inches or less blade length but I don’t have that problem where I live. I can barely squeeze my hand into XL gloves, and they just awkwardly swallow up the Para 3. The PM2 is perfect for me, you just need to go with whatever suits you!
You nailed it. The only reason the Para 3 exists is the 3" areas.
I just got a para 3 and it's absolutely amazing. Will get the para 2 magnacut when it comes out.
I've never handled a 3 but I have a pm2 in 20cv and it's a favorite in the collection. It's a great knife. Great video 👍
IMO, AWT, and a Lynch clip. Titanium hardware. That should be good. I never got into the titanium scales and backspacers, lanyard plugs but that’s just me. Have fun 👋
For self defence I think para3 is better. It is easier to control and in long run easier to carry on. good vid thought subscribed. you are true knife lover.
Defense id rather have para 2 tanto that is if your lucky enough to get one. They aren’t easy to get.

I had a sizable knife collection for years.
My opinion is that the PM 2 is a nice knife, but the handle ergonomics were way overdone for the blade size and potential, therefore I assumed the P3 was going to be closer to not good than good.
After recently handling a P3 LW I realized I was dead wrong with my assumptions.
The PM2 didn't qualify as a work knife in my former trade.
The Gayle Bradley just beat the PM2 in every way for my needs.
Anyway, the P3 LW felt correct in every way for an EDC and I was a little bewildered to realize that.
I'd take a P3 LW with CTS BD1N any day over a PM2 with titanium scales, a K390 blade and dipped in the blood of Sal's grandchildren.
It's interesting to reflect on what what mattered to me when I had the fever and what matters to me after a whole lot of trial and error.

i started out loving the pm 2 , it's probably spyderco best knife imo. then i went with the para 3 because of size . both great knives. but the winner is the pm 2 all day long... the blade looks so much better and more useful than it's stunted more ugly little brother 👊👊
Can't go wrong with either 🤷
But if I could only pick one it would be the PM2

I like the para 3 with skinny scales. Not that the 2 is bad it’s just large in my pocket.

The Para 3 should have been slimmer to make a difference, towards a Delica perhaps. Now you have a knife just as bulky, broad and heavy but with a shorter blade. Doesn't make sense.
The military should be brought into this convo. Liner lock is a better option rather than compression lock. My opinion.
It depends on use and hand size. I live in a 3” concealed state (I can carry any size openly, in a sheath) and I have med-lrg hands - the P3 really locks into my hand like it was made for it. Don’t get me wrong, I have PM2s and love them. I’m just saying it’s a complicated question, and depends on some personal needs. I don’t think you can really unequivocally say one is “better”.
I have PM3 with G10 ... cpms45vn blade ...

Para 3 and PM2 are both Great knives. Neither is better over the other, Para 3 was created for the user that likes mid size knives, literally just a smaller version of PM2. Just as PM2 was created to be a tad smaller than Military, and added compression lock.
It comes down to Preference, do you want a smaller knife? But not too small Para 3 ( i won’t suggest other spyderco’s as you only shown these two )
Do you like bigger knives? Then PM2.
( also won’t suggest other knives )

I just got the PM2 in Cru-Ware, for smaller lighter ones i have a Bugout 535-3 (the one in carbon fiber and s90v) that i can carry in basketball shorts no problem, but just like you i prefer a bigger knife. I was thinking of even getting the full Military, but they didn't have it in anything, but S30V, and it just seemed too generic, like its by no way a bad steel, but meh...

The pm 3 doesn't look very deep carry even with the after market clip
Para3 fits in my pocket better, I prefer to carry it over my many pm2's. Overall I choose my endura, it fits even better in the pocket than both Para's and its large and has a better lock.
Pm2 for sure is the better knife. It's my favorite knife of every knife I've tried. Can have almost any steel you want, leave it stock or dress it up. I have pm2s that are at the level of my Koenig Airus with rg custom metalworks ti scales and clip, rock scale backspace, and a regrind. It looks as good and performs as good as any other production knife I own. And even stock it just a great knife and that's why the new 15v pm2 sells out in seconds

if I have to choose I’ll choose para2 cause I already own sage 5 which is almost identical to para3 in term of size but man I really love para3 blade thickness it just look mean.

Pm2 is just way to big for me. I have average size hands, and i when i spydie flick the knife open with one hand, I have to shimmy my hand back down the handle to get it to the right spot because of its height
As a lefty, it’s the PM2, by a landslide because I can GET one in a left hand version (unfortunately only in S30V). My preferred knife is the Stretch 2 in K390. It’s about the same size as the PM2 and has about the same blade shape, but has FAR better steel.

Military > PM2 > Para3.
If you want a compression lock model with a ~3” blade; get a Sage5 LW, or a Lil Temperance3 LW. They’re both superior to the Para3.
I prefer the OG Millie, over the “paramilitary” models. It’s more than just a bigger PM2. Ymmv
