    Moisturizer: half rose water, half vitamin E oil in a spray bottle (3-4 times per week). Oiling your scalp: Castor oil (1-2 times a week). Twisting (if you want to): Every 3 months. Washing routine: every 2-3 weeks
    With Dr Bronners Peppermint Castile soap (or if it stanks), other than that... leave your hair the hell alone!

    • @lasoul680
      @lasoul680 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    • @notthe1_orthe2
      @notthe1_orthe2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you wash the entire length of the loc? Or do you just wash the scalp?

    • @puzzlesjay
      @puzzlesjay 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@notthe1_orthe2 I concentrate on the scalp as that is where the dirt accumulates and originates, but I gently squeeze the shampoo throughout the length of my locs as second hand smells can linger in their density.

      That depends on the length and thickness of your hair. My locs have already gotten so thick I can't hold them in one hand. That means I also can't braid them flat to put under a wig or sew-in.

    The time frame varies. I have had my locs for 6months and they have length and signs of locking. I guess because im not always in my hair like that and I've only used natural products since i started. Patience is key though. This journey is not for that faint of heart or lazy folks. Embrace, enjoy it and just love it as you love yourself and the journey will be amazing. Love Peace and Hair grease✌🏾

    Continuous Peace and Blessings to you my beautiful Sister!🙋🏾‍♀️
    Yes, you're talking about me....I have been natural for 6 years now & not only am I really tired of wearing braids in my hair (I have to do little to no manipulation hairstyles or my hair won't grow) but I have also been re-evaluating what is truly important in life and doing my best to reinvent my mind. So with that being said....My decision to loc my hair is very spiritual for me as well. Also I know my locs will look so freaking dope just like so many other Sisters' hair that I have seen!!😉 The only thing I will definitely miss is not being able to rock my Afro!😔
    Talk about a dope hairstyle....especially when it's natural!

    Hi.... Such a good video... One key word is COMMITMENT.... It is a process, but well worth it. I'm 10 years locd and loving my journey, my transformation as to who I am. Started with above my ear length to now waist length. It took a minute to get there but again commitment got me there. Be blessed.

    I loc’d my hair on 10/24/2020! I was natural for 10yrs! I have to say that going loc’d is much more liberating than being natural.... I went to a loctician/locsmith but I let her decide what was the best route I should go based on my hair texture. I believe I have 3C type hair so I went with the comb-coil method... my loctician styled me locs to keep them in place and she suggested I sleep with my locs covered in a du-rag instead of a scarf or bonnet... I plan to go every 3 weeks for my wash and retwist initially and then switch to once a month starting January 2021.... For moisturizing my hair I will use Aloe Vera, “Wild Growth Hair Oil” and from time to time rice water... I am soooooo glad I started my locs, I’m sorry I waited so long.
    Be blessed and be safe!!! BLM ✊🏿✊🏽✊🏾

    I've been flirting with the idea of locing my hair for years. I currently have two-strand twists that look like your hair. However, I'm on covid lockdown and I'm thinking of letting them loc fully. Do you have a video or link detailing the "c" or fish scale parting method? I need a step by step parting tutorial because my twist to part ratio is off since this is self installed. I want them more uniform.

    I started my first set of locs with interlocking at the root and I had to take them down because of holes. Please practice first if you’ll be interlocking your hair. It might not seem hard but when you are trying to do it yourself it can be. Loved the tips.

    I just got my starter locs 😩 she used the comb method. I didn't do my research. I just got tired and went to get my hair locked. I actually want mine to look the way yours look. I like the loose free look. I'm going to see how my hair does in the next 6 weeks before I go back. I'm not mad but a little disappointed at how impulsive I was. Regardless, I like all kinds of dreads, accept freeform. Soooooooooo, wish me luck on this journey. If i don't like it, I'll change it.

    I needed this video. I started with the two strand method. Two weeks later I combed my hair out because i didn't think it would have gone right.
    I'm bout to re-twist my 3b hair in a much neater way and use different hair products.

    According to my family I had my FIRST mid-life crisis at the age of 30, when I dyed my hair neon pink, stretched my earlobes, and obtained 20+ tattoos. Now, at the age of 40 and a new job I've got to give up the pink. I settled for silver/grey, but have come to the decision... It's too tame! I've had dreadlocks on the brain since 2016! Now's the time...

    I've been natural since about 2008, I started my twists this weekend, I've been wanting to lock my hair for YEARS and haven't done it, decided to look up some videos and you were #1 to pop up, I will be following and not sure on washing process nor really products to use that will be the BEST ... I knew I didn't want to do that wax tho! Lol! Big question!.... "Should I wrap my hair at night?" I have many hair types, My hair is thinner around the edges (much like a white girl) and thicker in middle, not super thick but a good medium thick I guess. Lol! I say I have about a 4B hair

    Hello, I’m considering locking my hair I’ve been natural for about 2 years now. My biggest concern is my thin edges as well as my thin soft textured hair. Will this be a good move for me. Not to mention I’m 56 years old should I take that leap honestly. Oh and I really enjoyed your video I had no clue of anything dealing with locs until your video, thanks for putting this info out their.

    I've been transitioning for a year and 7 months and since January 2020 I've been keeping my hair in twists as a protective style (I couldn't book appointments with my braider during this time). I didn't know it was a way to start locs but come to think of it, it would always be matted every time I took them down 🤔😂. Now, with the encouragement of my cousin and a friend, I'm considering getting loc'd but I'm not yet fully convinced if and when I should get it done lol. Thank you for the video ❤

    Hey everyone! I'm in the research phase. I did my big chop in 2013. Been about that 4c fro life ever since. My hair is currently bra strip lenght. I've always admired locs and want to my next hair journey. I'm interested in sisterlocks, mirco, or extra small locs. Any tips not mentioned in this video?

    I’m that girl considering locking my hair. I’ve been contemplating it for some months now. A major problem for me is that I’m mixed and I have biracial 3b/3c hair and it’s hard finding anyone with my hair type to try and figure out what method and parting system that would achieve the look I’m going for.
