I started my journey 3 weeks ago and I'm loving the journey. I am so attentive to my little baby locs and i don't know I just feel sooooo free! Thanks for the video and the comparison line, I so needed that. I found myself looking at other peoples locs seeing how many locs they had etc. Mine are beautiful, this process is beautiful and I will enjoy my journey without interference. God Bless.
Thank you so much for receiving it! Congratulations on your new loc journey! You’ll grow more in love with the growth and evolution of your locs and yourself as time passes. Peace and love ❤️🙏🏾
Ma’am when you said “comparison is truly the thief of joy “ I instantly subscribed! Just got my starter locs done today and so very excited about my journey, thanks for this video ❤️
i’m starting mine on march 27th and my hair is at a good length already so im excited, and i’ve watched a couple of other do’s and donts and NOBODY said not to pull on the ends, thank you so much 🖤

I want to start locs because I don’t really like to do anything with my hair I want to just do a style and go and these are really useful tips. Your locks are beautiful too!

I’m about to begin my lock journey. October 23rd 2021. It’s my birthday gift. From me to me. I’ve been natural for about 7 years. Excited to see what it will look like in a year 😁
🎯🎯🎯My hair is also low density and I NEVER knew that until learning how to install and maintain my own Locs. It was shocking but, I’m still loving my hair and loc’d in for life. 🥰❤️
I just started my loc journey with coils like 2 days ago, i don’t like it😂maybe i’m just an impatient person but i can’t wait for it to lock up so that i can style it🙂
I just want to say thank you for this video bc it was extremely educational. My bf is having some discrimination problems at his work with his natural hair and has asked me to loc his hair for him since I have cosmetology experience and bc we cant afford to go to a professional locktician atm. Unfortunately though my cosmetology experience was also very white-led and we didnt learn much about how to do hair for black people (one of the reasons I left the school I was at) and I found your video and it is going to help so much.
Thank you 🙏🏾 I hate that you and your boyfriend are experiencing these inequalities. I appreciate you for receiving these tips and I wish you great success as you continue to expand your experience with natural hair and cultivating locs 🙏🏾
I’m almost 8 months on my journey and I definitely said that I’m not gonna know how to act when all my locs hit shoulder length. The front of my hair is holding me back. Patience is also the thief of joy and not a virtue of mine. 😁
your locs are beautiful!! and i think that because they will never get really thick like that as they grow they won’t really be heavy and you’ll be able to be a lot more versatile... i’m only 70 days in but that’s just what i think. thanks for the tips!
Thanks for the tips. This is my second time going locs and I do agree with everything your saying. Right now I am rocking a bob with my locs at first I was like how would I wear my hair when I go to work and then I realize a little make up and fluff my hair and I look so damn fine... keep sharing your videos
I am a whole 16 months in and you still taught me something lol, luckily I recently stopped pulling those balls at the end of my locs and got a tool to crochet the hair back in
I just started my loc journey with the two-strand twist method and I am 1week in. I'm feeling a little stressed with the parting system in the front. I have been considering taking them down and starting over. Good luck on your journey.
@@JaeCemma I am using the two strand twist, started over a month ago, but just went a week ago and had my two strand twists done by my long time braider. I wore braids forever and would use extra hair. However, I am excited to not use extra hair added into my natural hair. I feel so free and already see a difference in growth, since I normally have shoulder length hair. My hair was damaged but now I can see a difference in the health of my hair. Thank you for sharing. Your hair is beautiful. Peace and blessings to you 👍💞

Gorgeous !! I love your locs. I definitely have a commitment problem when it comes to locs, but I feel yours are the perfect size for me. And you would rock the middle part. I’m a side part chick too but yours was really cute. Thank you for the inspiration
Right the balls drive me crazy, when I was a loose natural I ALWAYS wore wraps because when I’m bored I keep my hands in my hair. Now that I’ve been loced for a little over 4 months now I still do it and I can’t wrap my hair at work, so now as soon as I get home I have a wrap waiting for me at the door to keep me from messing with my hair
Since I was young, I've always only learned to put natural stuff in my hair. I'm always hunting for oils to use in my hair but I don't really put them in my hair like that, it's just in my room to hang out, that's a habit I need to stop lol.
I've been contemplating on getting locs for a few years now, but after coming across your page I am making the choice to start my journey at the end of this month. I was drawn to your videos/energy. I do have one question. What did you put on your two strands twist when you first started your starter locs? Any curling creams or oils?
@@afrikurl so far, so good! Today makes 7 weeks that I've started my journey. The 3 week mark, my scalp was really itchy. I used vitamin E and peppermint oil to oil my scalp. No major issues since then. In the morning I spray my hair with Rosewater/Vitamin E and head out the door.

Been at decision stage for years now and at last I decided to take the plunge end of this month…wish me luck!!! Gonna loc in 3 weeks!!! Thanks for the video…I’ve learned a lot!
I just subscribed to your channel. I love your hair! I am thinking about starting my loc journey, and have been doing my research 🔬 on it to make sure I just about no all I can before I get started. I am so late to the game but better late than never as they say. My hair is short right now, shaved on the sides and back and I just started letting it grow back so i assume I need to wait alittle while for it to grow back. I’m gonna stalk your channel to learn all I can. I have been watching so many videos and I learned the word, “webbing” from you because I had no idea what that was, so thanks for sharing your journey.
I also liked what you said about don’t compare your hair to others because we all have to have our own journey. I was already doing that with your hair. I had just told my husband that I wanted my hair to be like yours, but like you said your hair is dense and will never have thicker locs. My hair is also dense but may be denser than yours, I won’t no until I get started, so thanks for those suggestions
Starting my journey am twa. So am just doing regular twist and interlock the roots as a starter. I had lock extensions 10 years ago but after giving birth my edges disappear so i had to take it out. Last year i cut my shoulder length hair to try the short hair. Loved it but now i want dreads. I have been deciding between micro locs and medium size. I decided to do medium . Your loc is inspirational New subby ❤️lets go. Thanks for the tips
I love your locs journey. You have nice length and full size locs that will look stunning as they continue to progress. I’m trying to start my journey now but my locs are kind of thin because I don’t have a full set of hair like yours because I kept shaving my hair off, if I did trust the process, I would of been 4 years within the locs journey and would of gotten better results. Anyways, fingers cross this time 😂❤
Take your time with the decision. There’s no rush in getting started and buzz cuts are fly too! Whenever you’re ready to begin the journey it’ll be right there waiting for you! 💕
Thank you for this video. I'm also 17 months in my loc journey and have low density, low porosity hair. I was just considering chopping off my locs because I was dissatisfied with not seeing my hair type in videos and feeling as though something was wrong. I will embrace what I've got and walk the good, bad, and ugly of the journey.
I hope you didn't cut your hair. No two 'loc heads' are the same. I don't think there is a 'wrong way' in cultivating locs in terms of look. Hang in there....
I have 2 weeks & 2days left lol yes I’m counting the days of starting my loc journey.. @LocNation here in Chicago the owner @Claudius Hardrick creates his own products which I plan on using can’t wait til his lady @Miyaa Mariee get her hands in my head 🤣.... I’ve been natural for 5yrs too!!!! & just cut it shoulder length so excited.. & happy that I landed on your channel.. ☺️ new subscriber🙋🏾♀️
Sis!! Thank you for this video! I have watched a bunch of videos and this one was a hit for me. I have similar hair to yours, or as I would explain my texture, you explained yours. . .deceptive LOL. My hair is the same. She can "look" so full. . .buuut . . . Probably sounds small but I truly appreciate this video. I have been at a 98.99% "I'm sure I'm gonna loc", for some time now, but have wanted to do some research, all the research, but I have struggled to find many videos with sistas that have sort of dense hair similar to mine! Love it!! Definitely subscribing!
Thank you for your videos the arw really helping me i am only in week 3 and i am so excited your loc are beautiful and i plan to follow u the rest of my journey😊
I’ve been natural for a long time now but I just finger coiled my hair a couple nights ago however they don’t look even as full as yours which is fine, my main concern is just that it’s a little straighter due to heat damage and the ends aren’t curling up. I cut off the straight ends in hopes they’ll stay coiled as they grow back out. I’m not good at parting my hair so I just kind of free handed it as well so hoping it doesn’t look too crazy.
Thank you for this video. It's very educational. I'm about 2 weeks in and sort of feel like I'm doing it wrong. I know that I'm doing everything I'm supposed to. Maybe over watering? My scalp is very sensitive so I've already washed it so I know I need to find something to really combat the itch that leads to washing.
So much time has passed that I need to update my dos and donts but over saturation or dryness could lead to irritation. I’d try using less moisture to balance everything out.
I going to be seeing if I can start my loc journey on my birthday July 18 .i want to be them because I have way to much hair I have been natural for more than 6 or 7 years .And I am so tired of having to wear my natural hair then a few weeks later get tired of doing it then getting braids anddd then having to take them knots out my hair .I believe I am ready for something different.
That’s awesome and I hope you’re enjoying your journey if you’ve already started. I know Locs were life changing for me and I doubt I ever return to be a loose natural. Ever.
When you stated that you allow your locs to charge, in the sun…Sista, I will follow you forever. Positive vibes only. Thank you! ♥️ #newsubbie I start my loc journey this upcoming Friday, February 4, 2022. In what others may refer to as our “month” of Black History. ✊🏾🤎
I so love your hair! I’m four months in. Mine will have the same amount of volume as yours I predict and that gets me encouraged🙌🏽 Thanks for sharing.. In regards to water it’s pretty much everyday, I have interlocks. My hair feels like a desert without water and I oil twice a week.. Trying to as you said know my hair from before the locs, I was natural for about five years as well.. keep em comin sis ♥️
I have cut my hair twice in the past 4 years because it won’t grow equal and my edges won’t grow so I been thinking about starting lock but my state doesn’t have any shops that do locks other than white hairs which is easier to do than black thicker hair . I need some ideas on how I can start my own locks at home
I started my loc journey 2 days ago Feb 15th. But I am having issues because of the length. Its a little shorter than i expected. I got instant locs. But I am so excited still aboit the journey. I just don't know how long its going to take lol
Congratulations on your new journey! 🍾🎉🎈 Fortunately length comes easily with healthy locs. As long as you keep your hair and scalp healthy, the length will sneak up on you. Believe me 😂
Thanks for this, I started mine about 4 years ago, and had the nerve to have a baby. So my hair thinned out and my front locks looked horrible. I felt so bad and conscientious. Your very first "don't" hit home for me 😀
I have been on the journery 2 years this month. I love my dreads but struggle with keeping them oily and in my town trying to keep a locktician. What is that tool you showed and how do one use it? I really like your manner of presentation . Thank you
Thank you! My 2 year is coming up as well! And I spray oil on my locs every 3-4 days. I think the tool I showed was my interlocking tool which I linked in the description box. The other is a crotchet tool that I haven’t used much throughout my journey. I used it to weave stray hairs back into my locs.
Thanks for sharing. In regards to not putting tension on your hair, does that mean it’s a bad idea to style starter locs to get it out of ones face and in one place. Also leaving it in that style till the 6/8 weeks retouch
Thank you! Starter locs styles are completely fine especially if you’re keeping them in and not manipulating your hair. When I say tension, I mean restyling tight ponytails or buns daily, and apply excess stress on your hair.

Started my loc journey Jan 27, thanks for the tips
Thank you for this video. I'm also 17 months in my loc journey and have low density, low porosity hair. I was just considering chopping off my locs because I was dissatisfied with not seeing my hair type in videos and feeling as though something was wrong. I will embrace what I've got and walk the good, bad, and ugly of the journey.
You’re so welcome! I have yet to see locs that look exactly like mine so it is really all about loving them the way they are.
Thank you so much! Congratulations on your upcoming loc journey 🎉!! I’m so happy you have a your plan on lock because I was out here winging it 🥴
@@JaeCemma winging it or not the look is gorgeous on you.🙂
Exciting!! I’m scheduled for 5/16!!
Keep us updated 🙌🏽🤩
@@itsshayla cool! ☺️ yes the 15th for me . I most certainly will, you too💓
Thank youuu 🙏🏾
Loved this video. I start my journey 4/21/2021(my birthday gift to myself) thanks for the information. Your locs are beautiful
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂🎊 and Congratulations on your new journey! I appreciate you watching and thank you!
Thank you 🙏🏾 I’m so glad you found this helpful!
Officially started my journey as of last Saturday!!!
Thank you for your videos the arw really helping me i am only in week 3 and i am so excited your loc are beautiful and i plan to follow u the rest of my journey😊
I’m so glad you find them helpful and congratulations on your new journey 🎊
I've been pulling out my ends 😫😫😫😫thank you for mentioning this
I’ve been natural for a long time now but I just finger coiled my hair a couple nights ago however they don’t look even as full as yours which is fine, my main concern is just that it’s a little straighter due to heat damage and the ends aren’t curling up. I cut off the straight ends in hopes they’ll stay coiled as they grow back out. I’m not good at parting my hair so I just kind of free handed it as well so hoping it doesn’t look too crazy.
Your finger coils will definitely expand over time. Fullness all depends on loc method and maintenance.
Have you tried clove tea spray or ACV rinse?
Ever.
This was very helpful. I'll be starting my lock journey in April 2021🙂
Congratulations on your upcoming journey! 🎉🤗
Hi I now gonna start my locs journey and I am super excited this video is very helpful
If God blesses me, I'll be getting locked in July. 🙌🏾💚💪🏾✅

New subscriber!!! Great video!
Thank you!
9 mnths in and enjoying my journey for what it is🎉
Congratulations 🍾🎉🎊 I’m so glad your journey is serving you well!
Excited to start my journey soon!!
When you stated that you allow your locs to charge, in the sun…Sista, I will follow you forever. Positive vibes only. Thank you! ♥️ #newsubbie I start my loc journey this upcoming Friday, February 4, 2022. In what others may refer to as our “month” of Black History. ✊🏾🤎
Me and my week-old baby locs are just holding on for dear life, and we hope you're right cuz it's rough out here, lol
I so love your hair! I’m four months in. Mine will have the same amount of volume as yours I predict and that gets me encouraged🙌🏽
Thanks for sharing..
In regards to water it’s pretty much everyday, I have interlocks. My hair feels like a desert without water and I oil twice a week.. Trying to as you said know my hair from before the locs, I was natural for about five years as well.. keep em comin sis ♥️
Thank you so much! Will do 🙏🏾
Thank you for this video, I start my Dreadlock journey in 2 weeks XXX
Your locks are beautiful. Please what informed your lock style and pattern when you started?
How often do you relock?
Thank you. I just wanted locs that fit my head size and I don’t have any pattern at all. My parts are irregular. I retie once every 8 weeks or so.
I'm new to the locs, I don't want mine to be locd all the way down I want them to be loose on the ends
Thanks so much for this video! Honestly, I'm afraid of that latch hook lol, I never understood how people used it 😂.
I have cut my hair twice in the past 4 years because it won’t grow equal and my edges won’t grow so I been thinking about starting lock but my state doesn’t have any shops that do locks other than white hairs which is easier to do than black thicker hair . I need some ideas on how I can start my own locks at home
Btw, your hair is my goals!
Just started my loc journey in September 2020.. watching different tutorials to retwist my own locs
I got to stop pulling the ends.. mental note!
Awesome 👏🏾 congratulations on your new journey!
It's been 2 months since a perm, I started locs yesterday but my ends are straight
thinking of doing locs before the end of the year, and i love yours. is their a specific name?
Thank you so much. I have interlocs that I started with two strand twists. I’ve never retwisted, only interlocked.
What size are your locs and how many do you have
149 and smedium
Hello, I was wondering what was the product you mentioned at 3:55! I would love to get it for my hair! Great video by the way
I linked his website in the description box. Thank you !🙏🏾
@@JaeCemma thank you so much for your reply! What is it called exactly? The green product?
I found the exact product www.daleynaturals.com/product-page/sister-locks-dreadlocks-and-braid-moisturizing-spray
Believe me 😂
Starting my loc journey in April!!!
Me too!😊
What's the oil called again and where can I get one?
Great video! Love your energy!
Thank you! 🙏🏾
I’m almost 3 months into my loc journey and the very back of my locs keep unraveling what can I do to keep them from unraveling
Thanks for this, I started mine about 4 years ago, and had the nerve to have a baby. So my hair thinned out and my front locks looked horrible. I felt so bad and conscientious. Your very first "don't" hit home for me 😀
Lol not “the nerve” 😂 you’re so very welcome. Thank you for receiving it
This made me cut my locs im not into start again
Love your locs. What color and type of lip gloss are you wearing?
Thank you! No clue. Probably NYX cookie butter I think.
Your hair is beautiful. Thanks for the tips 😊
Thank youuu 🙏🏾
Beautiful tips sis, your big fan. New family member
Welcome tribe! Thank you so much ❣️🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing im 7 months in and still learning.
Thank you 🙏🏾
I have been on the journery 2 years this month.
My daughter is just starting to lock and I was told to get her a silk scarf for her hair.
Silk scarves work as well.
Loved it sis!! 👌🏾
Thank you 🙏🏾 ❤️
Excellent advice all around!!!
THANK YOU! 🙏🏾
