- I check out the new Steam demo of the upcoming post-apocalyptic MMO, Once Human. We explore a bit of the world on an RX 7900XTX/Ryzen 5900X PC build at 4K taking in the scenery and crafting our way into a more capable character.

Steam says I have 30 hrs in the Demo. I'm having fun with it. I play it on a 7900XTX and I have a friend who plays on an RX6600. He gets roughly the same frames I get all be it, he is at 1080P. I am at 4K Resolution. An RX580 or 1060 would play this on lower settings 1080P resolution.
I played the first 10 hours I think with no mask because I just didn't want it on her face. Once I actually paid attention I saw all gear slots have a hide option so my character then ran around in her bloomers for an hour. Then I simply removed her helmet and face mask. This Demo is coming to a close. The game launches on the 9th of July. As far as I know it's free with a cosmetic cash shop for revenue.
Looking at my Library for 23 and 24 and knowing how many games were GPU killers, this one will hopefully get some life just on the lower requirements.

@@paranikumarlpk I took a look at the beta 2 months ago and made a video about it similar to this on the 7800X 3D and 4090, looks like the performance has got better for sure but theres still these random millisecond hitches.
Been waiting for a good mmo to sink my teeth in (was a hardcore GW1/GW2 player and played WoW till Wotlk, Warframe, D2) but although I absolutely LOVE Lovecraftian themes there's something that puts me off in this game, can't quite put my finger on it though. Maybe it's the fact that she's wearing pants XD kidding. I'll give the demo a quick try again and see how it does when it releases soon but so far I'm really hyped for ER dlc and Doom DA . But I do hope this is the mmo that finally gets me back into it.
I heard GW3 is in the works but I'm not really hyped for it after the turn GW2 took in terms of pvp balancing (that's subjective ofc, pvp is my go to endgame in mmos) and the shallow storytelling compared to GW1 were every expansion felt like reading a good book.
Anyways thanks for showcasing this again close to release, I completely forgot about it and I do want to see what the full game will offer. Hopefully Netease won't have a say in terms of microtransactions.
From what I've heard the game will be free to play and microtransactions will be cosmetics only which sounds ok. Will that be the case months down the road though? Who knows but if its just cosmetics I'm not bothered by it. I'll run around with ripped jeans all day long lol.

The stutter is UE5 shader comp...every UE game has it. Once you have loaded the game 2-3 times it goes away and the performance evens out. The game is heavy on CPU also, I have a 6950xt and regardless of graphics options I get 100-120 fps. Hopefully they compile shaders on release/have more graphics options. FSR/DLSS/XESS would be nice
It's not UE, it's some custom netease engine they're using but it doesn't change the fact the game needs a bit more polish performance wise.
I looked at this 2 months ago on a 4090/7800X 3D and I think performance has actually improved a bit.
@@TerraWare the performance is the same, i did all cbt and the demo, performance has been identical everytime. might be a custom "netease" engine but most likely just modified UE like most "in house" engines. It has that choppy shader compiling issue like every UE game that clears up with time. If its not that issue , its a carbon copy of it, game needs optimization
@jeremysumpter8939 You're right some of the stutter behavior does resemble shader caching.
Hey, I have the same GPU as you do (7900 XTX Nitro +). I came to the game through this video. In my case the game stutters a lot :(. What OC settings did you configer?
2900mhz max 500mhz min for gpu core, 1080 millivolt undervolt, +15% power limit, 2650mhz fast timings memory. The game does have some stuttering in the beginning. Eventually it gets a bit better but still not perfect.

Oh I can believe it. This game is quite CPU intensive, especially if you have a good gpu to drive FPS north of 60.

Yeah. There a story that's introduced during the tutorial and missions that expand on it. It's lovecraftian stuff, creatures from other dimensions that sort of thing although at its core its an mmo
even as demo it ask for 37gb, oh man, i kind expected way lower for demo and 20-40 as full game, but it looks like fun one tho facial animation is almost non existent
The final game could be the same size for all we know. I think the demo probably goes away soon and game launches July 9th
It is very annoying to see you playing with the stick when you try to take small steps and the character moves abruptly, I hope that doesn't happen with the keyboard and mouse.

All those great graphics and then the same western animation. Poor girl walking/running looks like a line backer. Females should have feminine animations. The rest of the game looks dope though, just wish studio's would figure out some animation common sense.
Haha true although they're probably trying to keep characters travel speed the same, make or female which makes sense.
Still a step up from what we usually see these days.
