One of the scariest laughs in movie history. Even though it was just mimicking one of Dutch's men, it knew that a laugh could be used in a sadistic way: "You may have won, but I'm taking you down with me".

Fun fact: after seeing Rocky Balboa defeat Ivan Drago, people in Hollywood started a joke, since there was nobody left on earth to challenge Rocky, he would have to go up against an alien for the fifth Rocky film.
Two screenwriting brothers had taken this joke to heart and began writing a script based on it.
that script was originally titled as _Hunter_ but would later be re-named as _Predator_

  • @PRAlex13
    @PRAlex13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +718

I love this scene because to me its clear the makers of this film wanted to differentiate this alien from other creatures in science fiction. Up until this point, the predators is a hunter focused on killing and making a trophy out of anyone that he deems worthy of it. His characterization is way too subtle to the point where there is not a lot differentiating him from a movie serial killer (of course his methods of killing are on another planet lol). What terrifies me about this creature for most of the film is how stealthy and incredibly efficient and violent this thing is, if anyone were to meet it in real life they would deduce that this is some kind of mindless killing machine. BUT this scene changes everything and actually had me rooting for the predator. Here he is more than just a monster, he decides not to kill Dutch cause he's seen how crafty and worthy Dutch is, so like any human (or sentient life form that holds human-like qualities) his emotions get the better of him and he decides to go hand to hand against Dutch, making this fight all of a sudden much more fair than it should've been. In this scene we truly see the Yautja as being more than just some mindless alien/monster, and more like a very alien (to us) sentient being not much different from humans, with pride and hubris to boot. Neat concept for a Sci-Fi film of this time.

SHAME AAAAH, takes of his mask(focus their natural heat vision) and plasma blaster, even goes as far to keep the wrist blade sheathed until Dutch seemed almost dead.

I saw this in the theater with my brother and two of my childhood best friends at the time, one of whom passed a few years ago as a result of complications due to sickle cell anemia. We were all under age at the time by about five years on average and weren't accompanied by a parent/guardian, but the people in the theater at that time didn't really care. We were all so excited to see the movie at the time. During various different suspenseful scenes, I would sometimes look back and catch my now passed away friend in the row behind me sometimes hiding behind the seat in front of him peaking up from behind it. I still get chills when the music kicks in and you see Arnold standing there as the helicopter flies in and the smoke clears.

I could sense part of him was saying it was total shit, yet part of him thought it was interesting. In the end he didn't really know what to think, but I could happily conclude he kinda accepted it was still worth staying awake for. A generational win for sure.

The second reason is more practical: destroy every trace of the Predator's technology to prevent it from being retrieved by another species. This movie is considered Arnold's best acting gig. He said that being in the Mismaloyan jungle put real fear into the cast because of the heat, diseases, and animals. The crew was constantly surrounded by Coral Snakes, scorpions, and the Fer-De-Lance snake. He constantly had a stoic but worried look on his face in almost every scene because he was hyper aware of where they were. That, coupled with the premise of a sci-fi alien hunting them, made everything even more serious. John McTiernan kept Kevin Peter Hall away from the cast because he wanted aithentic reactions to the beast. Kevin was 7'2" naturally. With the suit, he reached almost 8' due to the creatur's large head. Arnold's reaction to the Predator taking his mask off is genuine. Arnold didn't need extra acting lessons to pull any of it off because it was real fear. It truly was and is an authentic film.

More importantly, do you know 100% sure you’re going to Heaven, if you you died today? The Bible says you can know. It’s not about being a good person or living a good life. There’s only one thing you’ve got to do.
We’re all condemned to Hell because we’re sinners - “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). The Bible mentions a “second death” in Revelation:
“…and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)🔥
The Bible says all liars deserve to go to Hell. Of course, we’ve all lied before. How many lies do you have to tell to become a liar? Only one.
All of the religions of the world say you have to do good works to go to Heaven. But the Bible makes it clear, it’s got nothing to do with our good works. Salvation is a free gift.
‘For by grace are ye saved through *faith;* and that *not of yourselves:* it is the *gift* of God:
*Not of works,* lest any man should boast.’ (Ephesians 2:8-9)
“And that not of yourselves”. If you’re going to be saved (go to Heaven) , it’s not of yourself. Meaning, you don’t save yourself. You don’t produce your own salvation. Because, “it is the gift of God”.
A gift is not something you pay for, but something you receive for free. Once that gift is given to you, it belongs to you now. E.g. if someone gives you a gift, they don’t have the right to come back later and say, “hey, I need that back”. That wasn’t a gift then.
‘…but the gift of God is *eternal life* through Jesus Christ our Lord.’ (Romans 6:23)
If God gives you the gift of eternal life, it’s going to last forever. So, if God gives you a gift that lasts forever, how many times do you have to get it? Only one time. And once you have it, it’s yours to keep.
People have this idea that in order to go to Heaven, you have to do good works. It’s good to go to church, it’s good to be a baptised, it’s good to repent of your sins etc. - But if I have to do those things to go to Heaven, then it’s not a gift. Because a gift by definition is free.
Once someone puts their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, their sins are forgiven past, present and future. They’ve been given eternal life and is saved forever (from hell).
A saved Christian can never lose their Salvation, even they do something bad (e.g. if they rob a bank and kill someone). God will never take away their Salvation. Those who are saved become a Child of God:
‘For ye are all the children of God by *faith* in Christ Jesus.’ (Galatians 3:26)
What if a Christian keep disobeying God?
God will punish his children. If you do a small sin you’ll get a small punishment, if you do a big sin you’ll get a big punishment, on this earth. But God will NEVER send His child to Hell.
If your son or daughter breaks the rules, you’re going to discipline them. But they’ll always be your child. Even if they begin to doubt that their your child. Even if they begin to hate you. That wouldn’t change their DNA. Once God is your father, once you’re a child of God - you will always be a child of God. But He will discipline you.
‘For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.’ (Hebrews 12:6)
If you believe you can lose your salvation, what you’re basically saying is that you have to DO something to STAY saved. You have to maintain some level of morality (do good works or not do bad things).
The very idea of losing your salvation IS a works-based salvation. They’ll say, “you don’t have to do any works to get saved, but you’ll lose it if you don’t do the work.” You’re still working to get to Heaven at that point. They’ll say, “if you do something bad then God’s going to take it away from you” - basically what their saying is, you have to keep the commandments in order the STAY saved. In Galatians, keeping the commandments is called the works of the law, and we’re not justified by the works of the law. We are justified by the faith in Jesus Christ.
‘Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by *faith* without the deeds of the law.’ (Romans 3:28)
‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath *everlasting life.’* (John 6:47)
He didn’t say you HAD everlasting life, as if you had lost it. Or get everlasting life in the future. If I lost it, it didn’t last forever, it wasn’t everlasting. You can’t have everlasting life temporarily, that’s an oxymoron.
I recommend you watch a Gospel Presentation on TH-cam, it takes about 10 minutes. Because you will find out things you never knew that were in the Bible. Going to Heaven to very simple.
Search, *The Bible Way to Heaven,* on TH-cam
‘And they said, *Believe* on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.’ (Acts 16:31)
‘He that *believeth* on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that *believeth* not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.’ (John 3:38)

Dutch had seen many battlefields, but he was changed forever by his battle with the Predator. The Universe was both, not a lonely place anymore but also a more terrifying one.

I was a kid when this movie came out. I never forget the moment when the predator launched the self-destruction device, and the countdown began. People were screaming by saying, " run Arnold! Run!" People laughed, and the moment felt like forever.
    Miss those days.

Such a badass movie!!! One of my favourite scenes is after like half an hour into the movie, when they bust up Guerilla camp, Billy laughs at Hawkins' joke, and then he starts to get suspicious about something watching him, looks up into the trees and runs the hell outta there scared shitless. Then the camera goes up into the trees, and we spent like 2,3 minutes watching everything from Predator's perspective, but still we don't know what the hell that creature is! That creepy sounds of his thermal vision, those mimics "hahahaha, turn around, turn around, over here", watching the dead Guerillas everywhere, observing, and in the end we see him lifting his hand and taking the dead scorpion.......... "Any time"......... BRRRRR!!!! The stakes just got a lot higher, our boys are clearly in danger!! Such a fucking AWESOME SCENE!!!
