Spencer W Kimball was my Stake President in Morenci AZ. He came to our home when my father was Branch President. He assisted my parents in getting the necessary gasoline stamps for our move to California in 1943. My brother had been born with heart defects. We had been advised by the family doctor of the necessity to move to a lower elevation to extend his life. I will always him as a compassionate 'minister'.

Just seeing Edward reminds me of his father. It seems like just yesterday. Thank you for sharing your story and insight Edward. I enjoyed hearing about your mother as well.
We knew President Kimball loved All of Us because of his love for Jesus. Pres. Kimball was a living example of that love.
We were blessed to have had some of those Indian school children as friends.
I often wonder how they are doing. Fanny Begay was my older sister's classmate. Hello to Fanny.

I loved that he said that his father always kissed him . My father always kissed us too!! Before bed , before departure or separation of any kind. Till the day he died and I was 21 yrs old at that time. There were 8 of us kids . my father was a very loving man and was 6ft 4in tall and 250lbs but not embarrassed to show affection. It's been 20yrs today that my father passed away . what a sweet memory for me to have been reminded of on this day by this video. So glad I watched it . 😊

Interesting that his mother said that he had polio because he caught the germ when my HP group leader, a couple of years ago, refused to give me a blessing of healing because each and every of my medical problems were caused.by my actions. Should have asked him what sin I commuted to warrant being in the hospital at 6 weeks of age with pneumonia. Just for instance.

What emerges from the cases I have cited is that if we divide diseases into those that may, no matter how rarely, recover spontaneously and those that do not, we must place cancer in the "may recover" category. This means that cancer cures, no matter how gratifying to patients who experience them and to their relatives, are not necessarily miraculous. They lie within the boundaries of the natural world.

I was on my mission when the announcement of the Priesthood came I saw it on the doorstep and started calling local leaders and the my Mission President they said they were unaware but it was in the paper. We were baptizing a personal friend of Ezra T, Benson she wanted to call him directly we declined. As we were filling the Baptismal font with warm water we stoped and decided to ask the Lord for His direction. We went to separate Class rooms in a phase one Chapel about 30 minutes south from South Bend , Indiana. We met a few minutes later with tears running down our cheeks. We had our answer. We were bathed in peace, love and light from our Heavenly Father. This witness confirmed what we already knew that our God in Heaven loves and seeks to lift all of His children home ! We never doubted our answer and taught the truth of the revelation before the official printing .

Wow I didn’t know the LDS had the Indian placement program. I know there is a lot of information swirling around about residential schools and the Catholic Church. I know that some reservations have restrictions on missionaries now. I also know the Blackfeet for example, only let members of their tribe adopt children, no outsiders.

I joined the church the latter part of when David O’Mckay was the church president. Then later when Spencer W. Kimball was the prophet he came to my foster parent’s house. I felt i was in the presence of God. He edified and continued to uplift us throughout his presidency. I got into personal progress type of activities. I was not in some kind of cultural genocide as mentioned but yes i took on opportunities available to me. I am a retired teacher and owe the great influences of high school experiences and college. Interracial marriage would have been difficult. I wanted to marry someone who would appreciate my mother, cultural practices and language. My “Indian” 45:48 upbringing is so deeply ingrained that my white partner would be left out totally. The placement program added to my being who i have become. I am very thankful for great foster parents. Love you dearly.

A number of papers discuss possible mechanisms by which spontaneous remission of cancer might occur. The most popular suggestion is some form of immunological reaction, though this is still unproven (Lokich J, 1997; Heim ME, Kobele C, 1995). There seems to be a connection between fever and remission of cancer (Murakawa M et al., 1990); fever in childhood or adulthood may protect against the later onset of cancer and spontaneous remissions are often preceded by feverish infections Kleef R et 2001

Of course one cannot prove miracles do not exist, but apart from the well known difficulty of proving a negative one does not have that burden, which is actually on the claimant. Invariably, when we subtract the cases which have been clearly disproved, or which have plausible counter- explanations, or that are inadmissible because they cannot be substantiated, there seems insufficient grounds for invoking a miracle.

The case of remission following myxoedema coma (Hercbergs A 1999) suggests that hypothyroidism may trigger apoptosis (cell death) in tumours Yet another idea is that DNA methylation, which is involved in cell differentiation, may play a part (Sugimura T Ushijama T, 2000). And there is a long-standing impression that psychological influences are important (Heim M. Schwarz R 2000 Heim ME, Kobele C, 1995); certainly it is known that the nervous system influences the functioning of the immune system

1 John 5:9 "If we receive the witness of men (the Book of Mormon), the witness of God (the Bible) is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son." The witness of God is His Bible that He keeps reliable...the witness of men is the Book of Mormon, not sanctioned by John or God but makes "claims" to be "another testimony of Jesus Christ". God has already spoken through John in the Bible, no second false witness need insert itself over the Word of God. You are asking to be burned in hell-fire for eternity.

I was one of Edward Kimball's teaching assistants years ago, and I am a former member of the Mormon Church.
Re President Spencer W. Kimball's correct decision to overturn the Mormon Church's discrimination against blacks:
I do not fault the LDS members. Nor do I fault Joseph Smith, who had no such view of blacks, or the Book of Mormon, which teaches that all, black and white, are children of God. I fault the Mormon Church's leadership, since Joseph Smith.
While this video is interesting, it does not address the real questions. Here are the real questions:
What did Joseph Smith mean when, speaking to the LDS people, he said, "You don’t know me; you never knew my heart. No man knows my history. I cannot tell it: I shall never undertake it."
What did Joseph Smith know that would have got him killed by his brethren, the Mormon leadership, allegedly "under" Joseph Smith? "Brethren, if I were to tell you all I know of the kingdom of God, I do know that you would rise up and kill me."
What revelations could the Latter-Day Saints not bear? "If I was to show the Latter Day Saints all the revelations that the Lord has shown unto me, there is scarce a man that would stay with me, they could not bear it"
Who was Joseph and what did he know that would have caused his brethren to take his life? "“Would to God, brethren, I could tell you WHO I am! Would to God I could tell you WHAT I know! But you would call it blasphemy and want to take my life!"
If one can answer these questions for the world, including the current membership of the Mormon Church, then that person will doing a service for your fellow men. Until then, I fear you will make the mistake that millions of Mormons make: assuming that if Joseph Smith was a true prophet and the Book of Mormon is the word of God, then the Mormon Church must be true. But Joseph NEVER wanted to organize a church around his message; he suffered it because the members wanted it; "God hath taken away his plainness from them, and delivered unto them many things which they cannot understand, because they desired it. And because they desired it God hath done it, that they may stumble” (Jacob 4:14). Joseph Smith NEVER wanted to call the initial Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The Three Witnesses chose the Twelve. Joseph Smith was a true prophet. The Book of Mormon is true. But the Mormon Church and the Mormon leadership since Joseph Smith are FALSE.

+John Lee Thank you, dear BROTHER John, for your response. I am one of the weak and unstable, confused and vulnerable people who left the Mormon Church. But I left after 30 years, and ONLY after I learned for myself that the Mormon leaders are NOT prophets, seers and revelators, following the death of our prophet Joseph Smith. I have filled most ward and stake assignments for the Mormon Church, which Joseph never wanted his brethren to set up and embrace. It is difficult to live the Mormon lifestyle because the lifestyle is ordered by the commandments of men. Yes, it is a religion that demands active participation, but as the Son of God told Joseph Smith, ALL religions are corrupt, whether or not they attempt to organize around some of the principles Joseph Smith taught. I am glad you are OK that we leave. I do not bash FAITH; I bash the men in leadership who claim to have the priesthood of God, the same priesthood that Joseph wanted women as well as men to possess (notice both men and women are clothed in the robes of the PRIESTHOOD in the temple.) I will leave the Church alone; but I will not leave behind the VERY QUESTIONS that I have asked about what Joseph meant concerning his brethren and the LDS Church. Judge not, dear brother, which will cause you to be judged by the same measure you judge. Unless you can answer the specific questions I have raised, no one here needs to know of your judgments towards your fellow men and women.

"I fault the Mormon Church's leadership, since Joseph Smith." For what? Being men of their time? The Church was fighting just to survive during the 19th century. The 20th was better but still a time of persecution, rejection, ridicule, and lies about the Church. The Church was still small for most of the 20th century as it slowly grew outside of the Intermountain West. Blacks were not banging on the doors to get in. So I can see where the issue of Blacks and the PH was not a high priority demanding their attention. Can you honestly say that you would have acted any differently had you grown up in their time and in the prevailing American culture, stripped of your 21st century self-righteous attitudes and predilections about race? Certainly the Mormon Church's history vis-a-vis racism is no worse than other American churches and institutions.

Joseph Smith claims to have talked with God face to face. I would expect both he and Brigham Young would not just not be men of their time. The worst part of the priesthood ban was there was no revelation from God. Brigham Young just instituted the ban in 1949 based on the false doctrine of connecting the curse of Cain to African blacks. Some say the ban was in place since Cain, yet the bible does not link the curse to African blacks. It only states that Cain was marked. It does not even say specifically what the mark was. Joseph Smith in the book of Moses defined the mark as a black skin. However, he said nothing about African blacks. There are black or dark people that are not African. I no longer believe in the Book of Moses or the Book of Abraham. But regardless, even those scriptures do not apply the curse specifically to African blacks. It only references a black/dark skin. And if the curse remained in place from the beginning, then Joseph Smith screwed up by ordaining several black men to the priesthood. But I believe it was Brother Brigham that screwed up. He was a product of his time and he falsely and wrongly connected the curse of Cain through the curse of Ham to justify his action. There are many public statements made by Brigham Young regarding this subject. Oddly, the curse of Ham has nothing to do with the curse of Cain. Noah cursed Ham, not God. But that is a side note. And the fact remains that there was no revelation rebuking Joseph Smith for ordaining black men to the priest and then forbidding further ordination. Brother Brigham instituted the Priesthood ban all on his own. No matter how you spin it, it was a mistake and the Church essays and other official statements condemn the fact that it ever happened.

This was my biggest problem with the church. Racism first off, why is god racist? Science knows why skin color is the was it is. Why wouldn’t the all knowing god explain this simple fact to Jesus or one of his many prophets? Would have taken 10 seconds. Nope. Not important enough? And what a coincidence that it was “revealed” during the civil rights movement. If that movement didn’t happen the “revelation” would have never come. I found out about this 6-8 months in and was out a month later. When men want to be as powerful as (the concept of) a god. Imo gods were created to answer the unknown. Some humans need the answer about everything. I’m fine with saying I don’t know. It’s the truth for everyone yet some still need the answer.
What a kind and intelligent man. A great resource for the LDS and everyone who’s interested in church history. I didn’t choose to be interested but I am. 😂🍻

The second is not being Biblical. Heretical teachings and denying who Jesus is makes it a heathen religion.
