This is amazing content - obviously really funny, but also a really unique way to gain day to day insights about the zoo and everyone who works there! Love this series - could also translate beautifully to TH-cam shorts and TikTok if you wanted to!
I used to think the same, but now I often enjoy TH-cam Shorts when I have few spare minutes. Add well as some of the channels I normally watch I've found a few new ones. Shorts is a good way for channel owners to keep fans interested between posting full length videos.
I cannot stand people who actually encourage other platforms to turn into whatever the hell tiktok is. Because now that's all they're going to focus on, but please go ahead and get advocating for it guys! ♡
Love this! It’s honestly refreshing to see that not everything goes “perfectly”, and that even you have escapees. I have always beat myself up after my Mexican Black Kingsnake got out and I never saw her again.
@Call to arms You don't know the facility and their knowledge of handling them like they do so I don't think you can make the calls here. Especially since these videos and most videos are just highlights. Not the whole entire day of what's going on.
I'm just a random drop in here, but I love that the snakes and the lizards, which aren't super fast and the turtle that's downright slow are so determined to have little adventures and find new hiding places. Love to hear some commentary about what inspires their wanderlust, how they feel in their time away, and why they pick the places they do to settle down again.
This was so funny and a great way to learn more about your employees. I specifically love the intro where the one decided that Doug (or Jupiter. Not sure which one) was the perfect weight to workout with😂
definitely continue this series, i love seeing the behind the scenes of the zoo, and all the mayhem the reptiles cause also hope that monitor bite is okay emily, that looked painful, you're amazing at keeping your cool
That was fascinating. Also, make some bits of wood that slot into the holes in the pallet sides that fit into place tightly so animals don't go under there, and perhaps setup a few "ideal hides" which animals might be preferentially attracted to, might give you an easier time of finding them when they do get lose.
Hi Emily, Ed and SD crew! Would you guys ever be able to do a video on "weird, but benign" reptile behaviours?? If I ever saw my snake trying to mate with itself, I would immediately assume there is something neurologically wrong, and run to the vet. Maybe not a "weird, but benign" vid (as every behaviour relies on context and the animal itself), but possibly a video on some odd behaviours you have seen from your reptiles. Can be either common "odd" behaviours or random ones specific to an individual reptile. I think it would be helpful as A) these actions could be documenting patterns/ behaviours we have yet to learn about in certain species. and B) as a new reptile owner I am constantly overly worried about my pets health and wellbeing and maybe a behaviour new owners may interpret as odd or worrisome could be something that is most likely a harmless quirk! Maybe you could just add them into these vids!
I don't think trying to mate with itself is indicative of a neurological issue (plus, if it was, Emily probably would have said) I think it's just because snakes are pretty stupid. My snake once latched onto a pair of tweezer tongs for 2 hours trying to eat them lol
@@lemolea9571 that's what they're saying - they would've initially panicked over that behaviour however clearly its not a big deal and are there any other things that might seem concerning that actually reptiles do commonly. The hognose twitch is one I can think of, although if you're getting as far as putting two hognoses together and don't know about the twitch then maybe you shouldn't be putting the two hognoses together. But there must be a fair few examples
Love the new series: the snakeanigans. Just seeing some background chaos is always fun. You should also make a map of all of chloe's hiding spots, just for funsies!

I really enjoyed this. Long before it was illegal to do so, my dad used to rescue wood turtles from the road and bring them home. We'd keep them for a few weeks on an enclosed porch before releasing them. They all had distinct personalities & food preferences - one ate nothing but strawberries, another loved bananas. One liked raw hamburger, one liked blueberries. We hosted one who took to climbing up the screen walls of the porch. They all acclimated to being handled, letting their legs & tail tangle when picked up - they almost seemed to enjoy the view. My dad's long gone now, but I still rescue them from the road when I see them, delivering them to whichever side they seem to be aiming for.
The hognose going in figure eights was so satisfying to watch... even after you revealed the real reason. 😂 But seriously if someone loop gif-ed that, I'd watch it forever!
I think I need more, NOW!!! Seriously though, I really need more of these, this video was amazing, keep up the good work! (I'm talking about the whole team, keep up the good work!)
Love this new series! For biting reptiles, I have always used Listerine mouthwash. It doesn't hurt the animals, but they will let go pretty quick! I use the yellow one. It T's always been very successful for me.
They did recommend either Listerine or vodka for their snake bite video. Emily said they prefer to use vodka because vodka involves fewer chemicals. They tried the vodka on the ackie and it didn’t work.
1000% love this format... not super stoked about ya getting bit.. that looks like its gunna leave a mark Oooof.... Love ya'lls content.. Plz keep going!!!!
This series is perfect!! This is what I loved about the facility updates. There was progress and learning, but the shenanigans are what made those videos come to life on TH-cam. Lmao I don't think it's escaping at this point 😂 more like Chloe's weekly walk
🤣🤣🤣🤣 FACTS
Her constitutional
Love the format! Was especially entertained by the dude chasing himself (him doing the endless figure-8 was also weirdly calming to watch).
Emily now has the cutest little extremely painful wound though, and I'm envious of her future tiny dinosaur bite scar.
This is GREAT!!! I love this format.
0:12 idk her name but one of the workers just in the background working out with a snake and Emily’s doesn’t care like I’m dying😭 thanks for 15 likes yall
Hey! Just to be clear that is Kim!
16 actually
Does Chloe maybe need a bigger (possibly covered...) tub? Thanks for the awesome videos! Really enjoyed the Shenanigans!! :)
I thought they mentioned in another video a while back that they were going to give Rex's last tub she had at home to Chloe... maybe it is too big for the office area though?
Was thinking the same, maybe they could just add a dry nook onto her tub where she can hide? She's so brave and adventurous 💕
Or maybe move the board that looks to be a ramp?
Probably haven't had the time. They're crazy busy
Yeah, it was silly at 1st, but obviously Chloe isn't happy in her current enclosure, and it's honestly pretty small for her size; I'd want out, too. I'm really hoping they upgrade her soon, or pay someone to if they're too busy. I absolutely love this channel, but it is kinda sad to see Chloe in such a small enclosure. 😢
I love this video and I desperately hope everyone else does too so we can watch more shenanigans!
I do have a suggestion. Maybe since Chloe loves exploring so much she should get an enclosure and enrichment upgrade? She a looking a little small for that enclosure recently
According to other replies that is quite an old video. She is in a enclosure built for the zoo now.
It was only temporary till the big turtle pond was put together
Ah! That’s good to hear then! I wasn’t aware, honestly.
@@itz_elioftw she's still in the small tub. they confirmed in a different comment.
I love this series. I'd love for it to return! I loved when the tri color tried to breed with itself. Also your comments make it even funnier!
It also shows that nothing is perfect but it works out eventually!
8:53 that casual “oh hi” just killed me I was not expecting that
Love the concept even if it's a hassle lol
The Oroburus trying to mate with himself has now a special place in my heart ❤️
Love the future tadpoles already!
As someone who works at a pet store with live animals, there are Always some shenanigans going on, this series really soothes my soul to see ya’ll going thru similar situations lmao
I love these! The best sort of 'naughty' animals, where none of them actually get hurt and are otherwise taken care of
I love that!
That was funny 😂 but your right about Chloe’s new hiding place
I think Chloe needs a bigger enclosure with a lockable lid, could that be the reason she is always escaping?
This episode was awesome.
I agree
Oh yeah she 100% needs a bigger enclosure. I wish they had a nicer set up for her. I'm sure she'd be much happier and less prone to escaping.
That and maybe a cave and basking spot. I'm only mentioning the cave because the majority of the time they found her Under things.
@[ Toaster Strudel ] Thank you for reminding people of this. Too many people are ready to throw ya under the bus without even knowing the full story. 🧸👑
@[ Toaster Strudel ] It's been like a year now though, no?
Exactly what I needed to perk up my week, thanks guys 😂😂💕💕
I love these please continue. Also question I've had since Chloe's introduction to the facility......why no barrier if she keeps escaping?
i believe thats older footage with Chloe having her own enclosure now if i'm not mistaken
They commenter on another comment that things are in the works but they haven't announced anything for it yet.
Chole the adventurer. She really gets around for someone so slow.
This is amazing content - obviously really funny, but also a really unique way to gain day to day insights about the zoo and everyone who works there! Love this series - could also translate beautifully to TH-cam shorts and TikTok if you wanted to!
Literally nobody wants youtube shorts or tik tok but okay!
@@lemonpaperplanes that’s..kind of mean
I used to think the same, but now I often enjoy TH-cam Shorts when I have few spare minutes. Add well as some of the channels I normally watch I've found a few new ones. Shorts is a good way for channel owners to keep fans interested between posting full length videos.
One of the employees, the one that filmed rhe snake eating the leaf, has shared several videos through her Tik Tok about the animals in the zoo.
I cannot stand people who actually encourage other platforms to turn into whatever the hell tiktok is. Because now that's all they're going to focus on, but please go ahead and get advocating for it guys! ♡
"That's not food."
Reptiles are two-year-olds, confirmed.
I'd love for there to be more episodes of this. Perhaps a monthly series?
yep exectly!
yes it would be so ffunny

Yessssssss
Im so impressed how you managed to stay so calm with a lizard digging into your skin!
The face told me it really, really had to hurt
6:14 “roach roach roach your boat” got me dying
Love this! It’s honestly refreshing to see that not everything goes “perfectly”, and that even you have escapees. I have always beat myself up after my Mexican Black Kingsnake got out and I never saw her again.
Yeah. I believe the same thing happened to them with a milk snake Candy Cane. So it happens to even the best, no need to beat yourself up over it
@@hannahhenderson1113 I didn't know Candy Cane escaped. Aw. That's sad. She was so pretty.
@Call to arms Well thats not the attitude we like to have around here
@Call to arms I'm pretty sure they are 100x more careful with the dangerous ones. Neither Ed nor Emily are stupid or careless.
This was so fun to watch! Emily is far more calm than I’d ever be with a lizard clamped on my arm
I know
Please keep posting these videos! This is so fun y
This was so funny and a great way to learn more about your employees. I specifically love the intro where the one decided that Doug (or Jupiter. Not sure which one) was the perfect weight to workout with😂
definitely continue this series, i love seeing the behind the scenes of the zoo, and all the mayhem the reptiles cause
also hope that monitor bite is okay emily, that looked painful, you're amazing at keeping your cool
That was fascinating. Also, make some bits of wood that slot into the holes in the pallet sides that fit into place tightly so animals don't go under there, and perhaps setup a few "ideal hides" which animals might be preferentially attracted to, might give you an easier time of finding them when they do get lose.
More!! Watched 1 and 2, can't get enough 😄
I loved this! The part that actually get me laughing out loud was when Emily said, " Oh your a jerk." 😂
I love this! more casual content, it's always fun to see animals being animals!! also gives us an idea of your daily zoo life
Love Shenanigans!! Please keep them coming!
Love the new series: the snakeanigans. Just seeing some background chaos is always fun.
You should also make a map of all of chloe's hiding spots, just for funsies!
and have a counter for how many times shes been found in the same spot 😂
@@rosatopia5256 yes that’d be great
I think this is Chloe's way of saying she wants a new place to live lol. Hopefully she gets a more secure enclosure, especially with those mouse traps that were by the pallets. Not sure how tough turtles are but I'm sure a mouse trap still wouldn't feel good lmao.
Yeah that enclosure is shameful honestly. didnt expect that from this channel
@@tylerpistachio6927 I think they said they planned on moving her into Rex's old pool? But it's been a while, hopefully it happens soon.
I was thinking the same along with, does she escape during open hours and is _that_ even safe?
@@tylerpistachio6927 That's her temporary holding tank while they work on turtle-proofing her enclosure. That video clip was actually taken a long time ago even though they just now put it in this compilation so they may have her enclosure finished by now.
@@Britttanyy She has an enclosure but that's her holding tank it's perfectly safe
I can’t wait to see more! I love all the shenanigans the reptiles got up to! Also I lost it just a little when Emily said “Jerk” I’m a long time subscriber and have never seen Emily say anything toward the animals, it was quite funny. And a quick Thank you to Ed, Emily and the staff at Snake Discovery for the lovely videos, clips and content for us to enjoy 😊
Emily is adorable. Her calm and class under the worst circumstances... just one of the most charasmatic youtubers. Great show you guys put on.
7:28 so glad to see this is an universal experience for anyone who interacts with animals regularly.
I can't tell you how many times I have had to pull non food objects out of the mouths of my reptiles
i cant tell you how many times i have had the "that is not food" conversation with animals and children
what about Lunar?
6:12 did not expect it to get funnier till the "roach roach roach your boat" came in 🤣 that is a good one🤣
Who knew I wasn't the only one using my snakes as free weights. Awesome.
Not many people are talking about the girl using the snake as a weight and thank god I found one I just didnt want to be alone with it
I do the same thing with my 10 month old. If I didn't, he'd quickly outpace how much I can pick up and sling around.
He's already 20 lbs. Add in carseat, diaper bag, and my own purse, and... 😭
This was amazing! Thank you so much for sharing these!!!
My 9-year-old daughter loves these videos and has learned so much. A friend's son was going to college and needed a home for his ball python....thanks to your videos...she is taking amazing care of him (with help).
LOVE THESE!! This is so entertaining but also informational! Everything doesn't always go so smooth and you use these moments as an opportunity to teach us! Thanks and keep these coming!
I LOVE THIS SERIES I have watched this multiple times already and I LOVE how your employees enjoy filming stuff for you guys to share as well! They love and respect your channel as much as we do!!!!
Good to know that I am not the only one coming back for the laughs🥰

We need more AVA!
Emily’s love for these animals is so infectious! She comes across as a really fun person. I bet Snake Discovery is an amazing place to visit.
My favorite line from snake discovery “ do dot we’re going back home”
😂😂
This is so open ended you could just leave it as a blooper/vlog series, you could create running themes or games, or you could choose to incorporate some educational aspects. I promise, we'll eat this stuff up no matter which way you run with it!
Props to Emily for educating us while being bitten by an Ackie
adorable series! name you new ball "Julius Squeezer"! good luck with the facility!
@Trinity Trottier 🤣 Omgosh "Julius Squeezer", so clever & goofy. I literally LOL'ed 💕
COOL name
I love how excited Emily gets when opening and holding and playing with the babies...I love all these babies...so stinking cute..😊😊😊😊😊😊
