    Thanks to everyone who has pointed out to me that K18 stated in their FAQ page that you can, in fact, use a deep conditioner or rinse out after the 4 minute treatment is complete! If I try this treatment again in the future, I will be trying this out. Definitely wish they would have written that info on the instruction card I got with my purchase!

    On their website in the FAQ’s they do say you can use conditioner after the 4 minutes. I also use Olaplex and will continue to use both since it seems both products benefit the hair in different ways.

      Thanks for watching and sharing this along with others in the comments. I think they should have made this a lot clearer and put the option for conditioner use on the info packet that they send with the product. I don’t think it’s helpful at all to find different information on use when using their provided information vs their FAQ page. If I do try this again in the future, I’ll use it on my whole head and condition after. That would make it a lot easier for me.

      Very true, Olaplex is temporary and strengthens the cortex but K18 is permanent and strengthens the very core of your hair.

    Great video. I never got into deep conditioners, so for me finding a product that might give me the strengthening, elasticity and softness I would use a dc for 30 mins to get without applying heat and in 4 minutes, sold!
    If I do decide to do a dc while in the initial 4 weeks, I'll do it after the 4 mins. I have a lot of sun damage just on the top of my head (from wearing a sun visor instead of a hat for years), so don't need to cover my entire head, so I think it will be a cost effective investment in repairing those areas.

    I enjoyed the watch! I have some relatively severe heat damage all over my head after an unfortunate silk press, but I didn't want to cut it off after hearing so much about bond-building/repair products over the last few months. and K18 is at the top of my list to try. The rule to not use deep conditioner will be a pretty hard change for me tho. I have not even bothered with rinse-out conditioners anymore, as I've always preferred the results I got from deep conditioning (tho occasionally if I'm in a rush, I might treat my deep conditioner as a rinse-out).... But I think I will still go out of my way and buy K18 just to see how it works for me when Black Friday and Christmas sales roll around, and even then, I think I'd only get the small kit (that has minis of the shampoo, oil, and k18) or just the singular k18 mini, because it's just so much....
    I've also been looking at the product Living Proof's Triple Bond Complex, but I'm not sure it would be strong enough on my poor heat-damage strands. it's $45-ish, so I may just consider it as a maintenance treatment after my k18 purchase runs out, since it's less expensive, or maybe even investing in redken's bonding acidic treatment
    I see you haven't posted in a while and i haven't seen your part 1 (yet) so maybe you address it there, but I'm curious if Olaplex and/or Curlsmith aided at all in fixing your heat damage? K18 is quite expensive, so I wouldn't mind saving some money with either of these instead of k18.

    I enjoyed just washing and styling. Just used it once but took 25% of the time I used to take to wash the hair.

    You can use a rinse out conditioner afterwards. Just make sure you allow the k18 sit for at least 4 minutes. After 4 minutes you can continue your regular routine.

      Thanks for sharing this info! A few other people have pointed this out to me already. If I try this treatment again in the future, I will be doing this. I was just following the instructions listed on the card that came with my purchase. I wish they would have added this option to those instructions instead of just having it on their FAQ page. Again, thanks for sharing and watching!

      Thank you so much for watching!! If you do purchase and want to try it out on your whole head (as I probably should have lol), consider purchasing the 5oz hair mask from Walmart’s website. I learned way later that it is sold there for the same price as the 1.7oz. Still pricy, but more bang for your buck.

    I appreciate you putting this up. I just used it for the 3rd time and I can tell a difference in the moisture level of my hair. And weirdly enough, I'm enjoying the break from using a DC or rinse out conditioner (that's the most time consuming step in my wash routine).
    Also, how do you think the Curlsmith Bond Curl compares to Olaplex? I started Olaplex before K18, but keep seeing people talk about the Bond Curl. So I'm super intrigued.

    • @Itsamestefanie
      @Itsamestefanie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Glad K18 is working well with your routine! If I had to choose between Curlsmith and Olaplex, I'd pick Olaplex. I noticed a huge difference with my heat damage while using the Olaplex 0 and 3. It's also marketed as a bond repair product. With Curlsmith, there aren't any claims of "repairing bonds" and I didn't notice it helping significantly with my heat damage. It felt like a really good protein treatment to me but didn't dry out my hair or make it hard. I enjoy it but if you have actual damage you are trying to repair, I'd go with Olaplex. If you just feel like your hair needs a boost of strength and elasticity, go with the Curlsmith. I think K18 and Olaplex are much more comparable.

    • @Latriise
      @Latriise 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Itsamestefanie Thank you for such a thorough reply. If the Bond Curl is mostly a protein treatment then I'll skip it. I already have a fave protein tx (Botanika The Meander).
      Once I get through my six washes with K18, I'm going to start back incorporating my Olaplex (0, 3, 4, 5 and 7, but mostly 0 and 3). But I wanted to see what K18 does on its own first.

    You can use rinse out conditioner or mask after 4 min has passed from applying k18, that’s what k18 says anyway 😀

    • @Itsamestefanie
      @Itsamestefanie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting! On the instruction card and the website it specifically says not to rinse the product out but you can top it with other leave-in products or stylers after the initial 4 minutes have passed. I didn’t see anything about being able to follow up with a product that you would ultimately have to rinse out. If you did that, I assumed you would be rinsing out some of the k18 leave-in you just applied. That would have made this process a lot less difficult for me if that was the case! If they do allow that, they should definitely update their info.

    Chile I am on my first week of trying K18 and not using deep conditioning or rinse out conditioner makes me feel weird. I think after 4-minutes I’m going to use a rinse out. Just to see. Now, I must say, I did feel Ike combing it out, I didn’t have a lot of of hair in the comb/brush. And, I needed to use much more than the amount suggested.

    • @Itsamestefanie
      @Itsamestefanie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isn’t it such a odd feeling?? But yes, if I could do it all over again, I’d use a rinse out or deep conditioner after the 4 min since the company says you can do that. And I’ve seen someone with super dense hair use this all over her head and she had to use much more than the recommended amount as well. I actually ended up just cutting the majority of the stringy ends in the front of my hair since it was annoying me. Who knows, if I used this treatment for a longer period of time, I may not have had to cut them
