Woke up this mornin’,
Clocks were all wrong.
Tossed thru the thunder,
All the night long.
You were done leavin’,
Like you’d always been gone.
Heavy skies grievin’,
To a three-quarter song.
The truth stirs the water,
It’s secrets to hide.
How it shimmers and sparkles,
So as not to abide.
The moon lights the evenin’,
The waves hide the truth.
The truth stirs the water,
Reflection’s proof.
Warm yesterday’s coffee,
That same old ground.
Cool it with whiskey,
Try to keep it all down.
As the sunrise trembles,
Make a truce with myself.
Try and drink thru these memories,
In the time I got left.
