My Powerbuilt tool came in today. It worked with a lot of prayer and patience. The cylinder 3 plug was cross threaded. After several passes I thought about giving up. One last try, and I was successful.
@@JohnMastersDOESitALL It was indeed. We think that since it was the factory original plugs that maybe they were cross threaded at the factory. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter when it happened but that it happened. I'm keeping my eye on it. The cylinder 3 plug hasn't been loosened from driving whatsoever. I've checked it two or three times after a good bit of driving though.
All my life I have never crossthreaded a plug until today. I can't wait for my back tap to arrive. The only bummer is the 10mm is more expensive. Oh well if it works it will better than removing a motor and head for repairs. Fingers crossed! Thanks for sharing your video...
@@JohnMastersDOESitALL I end up not needing it but I'm sure it would have worked... I put in my toolbox in case I need it in the future... Hopefully not though
I think the reason that you didn't see any metal shavings on the tool after you removed it is because they recommend using a little grease on the threads of the Powerbuilt. Mine should arrive today. I'll try and come back and let you know. We think the #3 cylinder on our '09 Pontiac G8 GT was cross threaded at the factory because I removed the original plugs. I just happened to be the first lucky person to put new plugs in. After replacing the originals and firing it up, I could immediately hear that #3 wasn't seated properly. Wish me luck.
Used one today. Tools aren't spont on accurate to the millimetre. Unfortunately the one I got made the threads 0.17mm to large, plug catches and half screws in but cant tighten + sits loosely. Now need to heli coil 💩
That Totally Sucks! I guess I got lucky. I wonder if you could use the little trick sometimes used on loose screws where a tiny strand of brass wire, pulled from a speaker wire) is wrapped up the threads causing the gap to be filled as tightened?

So what happened that you ended up “not needing “? Please share, just did this
@@mayken6661 The hole was not stripped... I was working on a R6 motor in the frame... It was just very difficult to get the last plug lined up...

Would that work for 2010 jeep wrangler
Where can I finds one of them tools at
Im pretty sure i got it on spamazon
What size do i need?
Im not totally sure. :(
Every car has there size ask Google the year of your car make and model it should tell what size
So looks like it wouldn’t work for a hard to reach horizontal type plug
Im not sure but it was a lifesaver for my xterra vg33.
You forgot to LUBE/GREASE up to catch shavings😢
I never forget to Lube up!
