  • From Phoenix to Flagstaff there's a huge change in landscape, going from dry desert, through muddy plateaus, to the cinder hills of the San Francisco Peaks. Join me as I make this unplanned overland trip through Arizona via the Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route.

    Thank you. I didn't know this back country trail existed. I think I can manage it in my Suboverland. Too bad the reservation land is closed for no good reason...

    Enjoy all your trips but the views on this one are especially amazing. Not to mention the spider (tarantula?) and snake--thank goodness you spotted them. Some of the roads look so endless from the drone--do you ever wish sometimes you couldn't see how far you have to go?

      Thanks you! I can’t really tell on the drone since I fly through a small screen. I can tell when I look at the map and see just how little ground I’ve covered though! There are some times when the trail gets a little long and repetitive, like the rocky/muddy areas before heading down to the Flagstaff area.

If you remember, I missed you by one day last winter on the run up to Pinal Peak outside of Globe and then missed you by about a month on Section 7 (was there last week). The AZBDR is awesome. Heading up on Thursday to do the final section into Utah. As always, fantastic cinematography. Keep up the good work! See ya soon, lol.

  • @brucemartin492

    Question, I know you hit mud in areas but are you primarily driving in 2wd or 4 high when driving these roads?

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mostly 4 high. Apparently it helps reduce washboard formation on hill climbs, gives more control on the rough climbs, and saves me having to quickly switch if there’s unexpected mud.

    OnX vs Gaiagps?

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Both? At the moment they’re two different things. OnX is great for finding cool trails, and Gaia is pretty terrible for it. Gaia is much better for route planning and navigation though. I’ll do a full video comparing the two at some point!

    Do you think most of the AZ BDR can be done in a 2WD? Specifically a Ford E350 Extended Body with decent A/T tires? I won't be doing it in the wet season so besides the mud, possible?

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of what I’ve done can be done in 2WD except the southern sandy sections and the muddy parts (I assume they dry up!). You’d probably be best off continuing around the main Mogollon Rim to Rt 87 and taking Lake Mary Rd rather than following the AZBDR across the muddy section north. The trail gets tight after passing Long Lake.
