What you've described in the last few minutes of the video has been my experience in the last few weeks. A constant fluctuation between isness and selfing. There also isn't much reactivity here which means I'm not really opposed to selfing happening anymore. This fluctuation just feels natural at the moment. What is sometimes here though is a very very subtle sense of waiting for the selfing to drop entirely (that waiting is obviously also selfing). My current "practice" is therefore to just notice the fluctuation and the sense of "waiting for nirvana" and be at peace with it all. I actually wouldn't mind just living like this for the rest of this life, this is already so much more peaceful and enjoyable in comparison to a few years ago or even just a few months ago. Just hearing birds outside or looking at trees in silence is a deep deep joy that I wouldn't trade for anything. Trees and birds are my gateway into suchness - they are so direct and alive. But I've been feeling Anatta knocking on the door for months now and it's knocking very often now. I'm so grateful that this is actually available and you've made this very clear to me. Before I came across your work I was slowly getting a sense that the realization of Anatta is possible in this life but I was still skeptical and thought that I would have to meditate many hours a week and live very much like a monk. After watching a few of your videos several months ago a deep intuition (that has actually always been there) revealed itself and guided me through this process. A deep trust developed and it's here now more than ever. I'm writing all of this out of gratefulness - for you Angelo but also for many other teachers and most importantly life itself.
Glad to hear you can relate so deeply! I guess it's because this isn't a personal thing, it's way beyond that and in the impersonal we aren't separate beings. Much love@@indef93
This is exxxxxactly where i've been for the last ~6 months. Like a radio switching btw 2 channels many times a day...pure inseparable nowness which has no movement to self-reference and then the filter of a somatic sense of self arises like a fog...back and forth. I even sent you a message about this very question! It was seen early on in this cycle that the sense of a "struggler" that arises with the filter is an illusion, which was very helpful, but the fog still comes in. I will try just really watching it without trying to get out of it and see what is seen...thanks!
Thank you so much! Much of this talk applies to my experience. I used to wake up in the morning with an overwhelming sense of self ;obligated, behind schedule, either good enough or not good enough, resentful or hopeful, etc. Nowadays, in the middle of the night, I wake up with a bright rested awareness, easily able to experience my body as thought-free as ever, until I drift off to sleep again with the slow reorganization of selfing. It's totally fine. Now, in the morning, I can calmly witness the "selfing" slowly recurring, not hysterical like before, and sometimes even the "selfing" gets lazy and forgets to reorganize itself. It feels very spacious. For now. 😉
Really important and beautiful topic. In my case when thougths are believed a self that has beliefs appears and then some resistance and struggle appears. Thanks for this Angelo!!
I have clearly noticed that "selfing" to "not selfing" before, my reaction to that has generally been an avoidant one, as if something is wrong with noticing it. Good pointers
Your description is so so clear Angelo - the precision of your work is a boon for all of us. Only after the "selfing" mechanism fell away was it so obvious it had been mediating all experience all along. And that the initial awakening, as profound as it was, was still being experienced through a lens. The "relaxation" since the cessation of this "selfing" has been unmistakable.
Sometimes I put a patch over my left eye because it feels so. I noticed that if I stared at an object it slowly dissolves and can disappear. When it disappears I think the right hand side of my brain's looking reference. Jill bolte. When I think about this perception, the object returns. What you were talking about makes me think almost of the wobble between the left and the right hand side of the brain working. Yes the wobble is good. We are human. Just a thought. Thank you.
I don't think I ever heard the term "final filter", but it seems there was an instant recognition of what was going to be discussed before I clicked the video. What it feels like is just something "sticky" that isn't precisely locatable... something "off" - and it's frequently apparent even when seeping in presence. And there's this sense of control somehow being in the body even though it's often not clear exactly what the "body" is relationally. But this filter seems to have different subtle tones at different times. Also, there's a lot of confusion about if I experience full non-dual realization or not. When explored, it's clear that there are no boundaries between the senses, and they're all part of a singular whole. It can sometimes feel like all the senses are happening exactly where "I" am looking. The visual field can also be very vibrant and intimate, and spatially ambiguous. I guess I just don't seem to completely resonate with phrases like "I am everything" or "everything is awareness". I wonder if this is non-dual realization, but I'm just picking up on the "pulling back" of this final filter. I doubt it's worth fixating over because everything seems to reveal itself naturally through spontaneous exploration, but I am very curious at this point because this "final filter" just seems so obvious despite being difficult to pin down. EDIT: Okay I can’t help but ask, Angelo: how do you remember what this final filter feels like? You seem to describe it really well, and yet it feels rather subtle. If whatever this is goes away, it’s hard to imagine remembering what it was “like” 😂
I can relate. I would say don't compare your experience with other peoples descriptions like "I am everything" of non-dual realization. It's all a mind game if you buy into thoughts that philosophize about that and I've had that happen often in my case for a few months. For me the non-dual stage (fetters 6 and 7) is quite ordinary in a way, it doesn't feel that "infinite" to me. It does feel boundless though and I would describe my experience as rather holographic. It's like it's obvious that what most people call reality or physical reality isn't what it seems to be. But to say that it feels holographic might also not resonate with you. I guess everyone associates different words with different experiences and what some might interpret as infinite awareness might be interpreted as a boundless hologram by others. And for others maybe no term really resonates but they still have this realization. And I would also add that one doesn't necessarily have to identify one's current stage. Intuition will carry you through this if you trust it and let it you.
Thank you Angelo for this clear description of discrimination around selfing. I just keep listening to it, and it becomes more clear. The reaction piece seems so important too, to work with that first. Ahh now I can take a look and stay with what ever this is. You say these pointings in so many different ways, I am so very grateful. Thank you.
As unclear as this pointing seams or could be, it is profoundly clear(or is it). The feeling sense of the presence of a lens the distortion and disphoria while being pulled to look there even while a clarity seems to exist in the background/forground/steady all around. The ultrasound example is perfect also those autostereogram pictures that urge one to look hard to find the image, but not at all helpful to use the familiar looking lens strategy. The sense of someone struggling to grasp seeing and the sense of no one trying to see, do, be anything zooming in and out in pure innocence. Speaking of addiction and distraction, is the urge to consume this channel and anything in this realm an addiction? It can have that flavor sometimes, but then truer a subtle guidance through this territory known and unknown. To be or not to be a selfie. In gratitude for your guidance Angelo
9:48 I had a realisation at one point that, the sense of being a subject was nothing but a thought, it had no locatable physical, sensation, and it was an idea being perpetuated very deeply and fundamentally, which seemed to created some kind of internal tension around which the sense of self hangs. Like a tiny nucleation point upon which the self crystallises the mixture of the mind, all of its aggregates, without that initial nucleation point, the mixture of the mind remains clear and vivid. This nucleation point uses time as a means of creating that tension. Time creates the sense of a future, and as such a future is imagined, and that imagined future invokes that internal tension or nucleation point. Would you agree Angelo, that time is a crucial factor in this? To be completely timeless, that to me seems like a doorway. Not even presence can get you there, because presence presupposes a now upon which all events pass through, and therefore presupposes that nucleation point of self. But to be timeless, letting all things be as they are, letting the body do what it already knows how to do, letting the future, the past, and even the present go.
Thanks for answering a question that I sent to you via email some days ago in the early part of this video, where you addressed it directly...that the early realization can be an impediment to the no-self/8th fetter dissolving. The idea that there is a filter is a brilliant pointing out. I listened to this once and though I couldn't remember all the details of what you said, I could identify the pulling back/away form and then the letting go into. It's as if the sense of a 'self' is that something wants to see things from this subjective point of view, with the subjective being in the foreground. The 'no self' is as if the objective is everywhere and the subjective has just become a part of the overall whole...which is what Advaita means, actually. However the experience of it is finally palpable thanks to your pointing out of the 'no self' state. Also there is still the subtle attempt at contraction into a subject, rather than being part of the form/emptiness arising almost as if it's a vast hallucination. Those moments are really gorgeous. The 'pointing out' that one can feel the filter, allowed the filter to be felt, and now allows the filter to be dissolved. Brilliant. Wonderful. Enthralling. LOTS OF GRATITUDE TO YOU! Love, Jon
Ever since commencing the awakening journey, I can no longer use medicinal cannabis as I experience this contraction of everything very intensely. It manifests as derealisation/depersonalisation & naturally, is extremely dysphoric. Thank you for explaining this experience so eloquently and for pointing my attention back in the right direction 🙏. It certainly takes a lot of practice to maintain 😅.
Thanks Angelo! Super helpful. Been listening to this quite frequently over the last few days, and it's certainly been extremely helpful. Very clear. I can finally say it (feels like it) is going well!
So.. Let me see if I can put this in words🤣😂. It is seen here in direct experience that every movement of attention corresponds to a movement in the field that arises and falls back simultaneously without trace.. In other terms attention is awareness in motion. It's made from the same "fabric" as emotions, thoughts etc. Somehow the "impersonal" watching is flowing freely as the field, it's not arising from the field. 😂 Sorry, I can't express it better.. In the end, in direct wiev all is made from the same "fabric", with lens it has a complete different display and texture. Question : Even if it's uncomfortable, this means that from the Absolute point of wiev contractions and expansions are two sides of the same coin?! Looking at it impersonally, because they derive from the same source, dismiss both. 😮😐🤨 Thank you. 🤗🙏❤️ Much love.
Wow, that was really well described. I feel I’ve glimpsed attention in this way a couple of times… it can also seem like attention is the act of dilating certain parts of experience like an magnifying glass. Yeah that transmitted really well, have you glimpsed that description of fabric/attention before? Just curious. EDIT: Oh you said that was seen by you, okay never mind, no wonder. Yeah, “fabric” is a really nice word for what feels like an ocean of non-dual textures. Lovely ❤❤❤
@@qualqualie1518 Well.. I some way yes.. Attention dilates bigger and bigger and covers a larger "area", if it's possible to put this in words. 😂🤣 Relaxing completely in the field makes possible the dissolving of "clumps", energy is moving and morphing, and watching from where the attention arises dilates the field and even gave the headless experience. 😐😬 It's so frustrating because nobody talks about these things. Shinzen Young said that in this "phase" it's required intense zooming in and zooming out, alternating the movements of dilation and contraction. Or the Frank Yang method.. Intense vipassana body scanning, alternated with zazen, relaxed just sitting meditation.. Thank you so much dear for the pointing, have a wonderful blessed day, much love. 🙏❤️🌹💗💕
@@qualqualie1518 I was contemplating today to give you dear a more "precise" answer.. You can inquire the dream state. 😊🔥😅 In the dream eyes are closed, still "something" watches and observe the dream land.. Attention moves in the dream.. From where?! If there are no eyes, what sees and observe?! Does that attention require a body?! 🤔😳 What is the exact place of the movement?! Where is the feeling of a person in the dream?! What projects the dream and the personal feeling and from where?! Is attention moving horizontally, vertically?! 🤣😉😂 My husband says I'm a freak, an E.T because the character here has still a child's heart and curiosity.. 😊🔥Hope this helps. 😉☺️🤗 Have a magical day. Much love. ❤️💕
As i go through this path, i think the freakiest thing about this work is that self realization will unfold uniquely for us all, theres no one way guarantee that "this way" will work or not work. But at the same time its the greatest thing about it, because i (ironically) believe in my heart that as long as our hearts are fully into this process, No Self is inevitable. Although i have yet to "experience" this No Self unfoldment, the Non Dual is unemdeniable. It feels like complete intimacy, a delicious feeling of fullness and wholeness. But i notice how the selfing mechanism sets up these thoughts and almost creates this fullness/wholeness/non dual self.
You guided me through this experience to realize it, nice, it feels like there is the self (the body) and a second after ,,nah, this is just illusion, don't care too much" that's what I'm getting
In some sense, thoughts think they are you, believe they are you even. So without seeing thoughts as thoughts there's just pure ego - not even recognizing thoughts are not facts. But then this illusion can be seen through deeper. Thoughts (as mental images/words/concepts) think they are you when attention is stuck to them, or attention is contracted into them. But as this process unfolds, that "contraction" relaxed, it is seen that not only are the "voice in the head" thoughts not separate, not us, but the conceptual experiences that don't fit the other 5 senses are illusory as well - separation, time, the lens of attention itself - after all, if there's no self there, who could possibly be narrowing in attention on the birdsong. No, the birdsong hears itself. You aren't IN the matrix. You ARE the matrix. The whole damn thing experiencing itself, and nothingness, both and neither, in all permutations simultaneously.
I decided to approach this slightly differently after playing with it and instead inquired “where is the gap between this sense of ‘me-ness’ and ‘this’”. Just a non-dual inquiry. What happened yesterday and still seems to be happening today is a sort of merging of the moving body/being-ness with “this”, and the "person" is looking more and more like a "character" in this "happening". And the “being-ness” quality to experience is (in a very hard to describe way) a part of this “happening”. But it feels like something unseeable/undefinable has taken a step back and is viewing all of this, but it isn’t actually referenceable, because that would make it just a sort of “me-ness” in this “happening”. It might be the mind assuming that there has to be “something” for being-ness to be seen… Sorry if I’m making this confusing. But it's really fucking bizarre, energetically charged, and quite uncomfortable. I don’t know what to do with it 😂😂😂
I started a job as a charity fundraiser and we have targets etc. is a weird experience at times. Without the added sense of will I can see how useful things like targets are in the relative sense. If there was no target and nobody checking in to stay on target I would literally have no motivation and just be saying hello to people lol
Hi Angelo. Can you relate to emotions being like flashes after awakening? They are more direct than ever, yet they seem to be automatically let go of within milliseconds or seconds at a time. Maybe it is due to over a decade of pre-work/shadow work on trauma? Either way, it seems that everyone's awakening truly does happen differently.❤
MMmmm... In my experience, it's often a phantom face or a phantom body that appears and disapears out of nothingness. It's been like that for a while. That was a perfect video! Thank you!
I'm in a weird place. It feels like I've had an awakening and even what you say here isn't terribly confusing. There's no doubt that what "I am" isn't in a place or time. But also, all the thoughts that crop up watching this are doubt-y. In conjunction with wishful thinking (e.g. me as a universal god-consciousness that thinks its way into making the world as the mind sees fit) that kind of tries to stand in opposition to simple presence, conclusion-like thoughts arise that ask "where even is the distinction between thought and reality?" and "am I really getting this? there's something here, I have some feeling for what you say about the selfing-mechanism, but how would I even know whether I'm just subtly conceptualizing without verbalizing, or actually seeing clearly?" Keeps my mind going on and on, this doubtful talk about insight and non-verbal conceptualizing... Any advice?
Just do the spiritual search with your attention and awareness and not your mind/intellect. You don't have to do anything other than just be with what is. The states preceding thoughts/mind bring the wisdom and truth effortlessly. The obstacle is your mind trying to figure it out and rationalize it with these questions, perpetuating itself. Search Angelo's instruction with your attention instead of your intellect.
Not sure how much demand there is but I’d personally really like to see more videos like this that are targeted for “late stage/post-SE” practice! Like I’ve had progressively deepened access to “this” in real-time as a baseline for 3 years now, but there’s always a “glitch” that keeps evading me, and every trick “I” try just moves the glitch somewhere else lol
Dr Angelo. You have a brilliant gift 🎉 of making the ineffable, a little less ineffable. Now there is a paradox. And seriously you dig a little bit deeper and explain clearly the tiny moments that are the gap, and you dissect the gap.. Going through some crazy stuff right now, have sent you an email through website. ❤ I like propofol and i Love 💟 YOU, Namaste. Grant
That's how it is here, although you mentioned a first awakening and I would argue that nothing actually happened. Looking from the perspective of the witness didn't seem to change anything so I dismissed it for years as it just seemed to take energy to stay there, although that energy really was just resistance. Now there is just resistance, deep inside the body, and all throughout. I had concluded that this was the self but didn't realise that the perceiver came with it as I thought that it was deeper. Right now it's not obvious what's going on. Everything's just turned to mush after that video. Haha. It seems to be the perceiver. There is still clear tension but the perceiver has kind of scrambled and it's not so obvious what's going on anymore. Nothing to reference to. I don't think it's fully gone though.
So if the selfing process stops and there is full liberation. What is speaking through this body. There is still experience. Perhaps for no one but it is there. Awareness is required for experience to be. It seems as if complete dissolution of any conscious structure would result in loss of connection to any body-mind yet clearly the Angelo body-mind still has a strong connection to a conceptual framework and access to linguistic communication and interpretation. In other words, what is speaking through and as Angelo if Angelo has been dissolved? Where do Angelo's memories live? Is this liberation something that can be turned off or ignored when English communication needs to happen or the body Angelo needs to drive somewhere? Clearly I'm missing something. You speak of all these stages and layers and dropping of the conceptual framework and self and no separation etc. The result of that cannot be a fully functional human being unless it is very subtle or intermittent. Or .... I'm missing a shitload of understanding.
Self refers to the same spontaneous indescribable as Buddha Nature or Brahman. Isn't a cosmic being. Its like the bubbles analogy but every bubble is the first and last bubble. Like a TV flipping channels by itself Sorta the "On"ness (on not one) phasing in & out as the 6 senses presenting experiencing themselves. Clear as mud. 😂
Might b unrelated but i feel like everything is speaking to me, like if i hold something its like the feeling of it in my hand is saying hey, this is me, im right here

Much love. ❤️💕
I am so happy i was directed to your channel as dissociation and coming home has been the journey ❤❤❤❤ so relateable WOW much love
You are so welcome
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake thank you coming home and out of the personal / ego is pure peace. What an opportunity
Thanks, this is a great description of it.
fantastic pointing
Amazing. Thank you.
Awesome. Thank you Angelo 🤍
Wow. You explain these things so well! Thank you!
Angelo thank you for everything you do 🙏🏽❤
Whats the difference between insight and understanding?
Maybe in a future video :)
Greatly appreciate 🙏 very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
6:31 7:02 thank you 🙏🏾
I decided to approach this slightly differently after playing with it and instead inquired “where is the gap between this sense of ‘me-ness’ and ‘this’”.
I felt similar and it was like old habits and patterns getting triggered but now you can see through it so it's let go pretty fast.
MMmmm... In my experience, it's often a phantom face or a phantom body that appears and disapears out of nothingness. It's been like that for a while. That was a perfect video! Thank you!
The more i seem to get closer to awakening the more i drink. What the hell is happening
Addiction to avoidance?
I love the colors in this video image!
I can't make heads or tails of your videos but I can tell they're transmitting anyway. I don't know how but I like them anyway😊
Tha nku angelo..deep deep tha ks
7:23 yes 🙏💓
Hello Angelo, what part does compassion for our fellow brothers and sisters play in waking up?
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏 Is there a relationship between the self-sense and self-referential thought?
You are so helpful to me ❤
The more people listen to a teacher they resonate with the more "they" dissolve.
I'm in a weird place. It feels like I've had an awakening and even what you say here isn't terribly confusing. There's no doubt that what "I am" isn't in a place or time. But also, all the thoughts that crop up watching this are doubt-y. In conjunction with wishful thinking (e.g. me as a universal god-consciousness that thinks its way into making the world as the mind sees fit) that kind of tries to stand in opposition to simple presence, conclusion-like thoughts arise that ask "where even is the distinction between thought and reality?" and "am I really getting this? there's something here, I have some feeling for what you say about the selfing-mechanism, but how would I even know whether I'm just subtly conceptualizing without verbalizing, or actually seeing clearly?"
Keeps my mind going on and on, this doubtful talk about insight and non-verbal conceptualizing...
Like I’ve had progressively deepened access to “this” in real-time as a baseline for 3 years now, but there’s always a “glitch” that keeps evading me, and every trick “I” try just moves the glitch somewhere else lol
great vid angelo :)
We notice it because we are aware of it
I like propofol and i Love 💟 YOU, Namaste.

I can’t decide…work or soooo much fun!! Lol
Are you saying porn and video games aren't healthy addictions ? Just jerkin your chain. Thanks for the love to help us wakey wakey😁
Neither healthy nor unhealthy, just distracting
What do you think is happening in the brain which allows some to experience this and others not?
❤️❤️❤️
How do you get rid of the contractoon
Unbelievable
🔥💀💨
Or .... I'm missing a shitload of understanding.
what is the music?
🙏🙏🙏
❤
Self refers to the same spontaneous indescribable as Buddha Nature or Brahman. Isn't a cosmic being.
Its like the bubbles analogy but every bubble is the first and last bubble. Like a TV flipping channels by itself
Sorta the "On"ness (on not one) phasing in & out as the 6 senses presenting experiencing themselves.
Clear as mud. 😂
Nope, not watching that
Yup, 2 beers please lol
SHANZEN BLIJF DE LION DE LARISA!!!
😂😂😂😂
Might b unrelated but i feel like everything is speaking to me, like if i hold something its like the feeling of it in my hand is saying hey, this is me, im right here
