    One of many Astros fans on here that wants to show Philly some love. A good team and a passionate fanbase always makes these postseason series thrilling and memorable. Schwarber has continued to terrorize the Astros in the playoffs since last year when he was with the Red Sox and Harper was always a scary at bat. Congrats.

I want Harper to feel that champion feeling. Improving the pitching (and bullpen) is a imperative must-do! Schwarbs gave us a lead! But I already knew the pitching would let us down Again. It's pretty tough to try beating the Astros 1- 0 in Houston. The Phillies scored a total of 3 runs in the final three games. That is why they lost. Thompson's hooking of Suarez, Nola and Wheeler very early, was a huge error in judgement. Playing the infield in with Altuve on third with no outs in the first inning of game #5, was crazy. The Astros were the better team, but Thompson made it easier for them to win, by dint of his strategy.

    Astros fan here. Phillies fans have nothing to hang their heads about. Your team went toe-to-toe with the two-time defending AL champions and gave them all they wanted and then some. What the Phillies really lacked relative to the Astros was post-season experience. There’s no substitute for experience on the biggest stage; and now that the Phillies have earned some, they will be so much harder to knock out the next time around. Congrats to the Phillies for a great season.

Altuve then hit into a force play on a grounder to third. Pena hit a hard ground ball single up the middle. That left first and third and one out in the sixth. Wheeler had given up two singles in 5 1/3 innings to that point. He is one of the five best starting pitchers in the National League. I never second guess. The move was wrong, whether or not it worked. As John Smoltz said, " you are doing the opposing team a favor taking out a pitcher that is dominating". Wheeler should have finished the 6th, and the 7th. If the Phillies didn't score at least one more, it is very unlikely that they would have won 1-0.

    The Astros were the better team, the more talented team. Other than game 3, Houston took care of business outside of the late-game rally the Phillies threw together in game one. They won the series.
    However, it needs to be said that what the Phillies did was remarkable considering where they "came from." They weren't expected to get past the first matchup, let alone the NLCS. They got into the playoffs, they got hot and they rode it. They did what they had to do, what they were asked to do in each series prior to the WS, and if that catch isn't made in deep center field two nights ago, we just might be talking about game 7 tomorrow. Only twice was Philly outclassed in this series; they hung with the best franchise in baseball and they should absolutely be proud of what they accomplished.

    Major props to the Phillies for a stirring postseason run, but to say that the Phillies were just two games away from winning the World Series (which is technically true, I suppose), the impression that I got from the last three games was that the Phillies were NOT going to win any more games against the Astros in this Series, no matter how many more games they played. . .

  • @JR-to8sn
    @JR-to8sn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It would have been a miracle for the Phils to win the WS. They don't play small ball very well and swing for the fences on every at bat, you can't win that way. And their two guys Wheeler and Nola didn't have a good WS. Wheeler pitched better tonight but it was too late. I'm happy they made it this far and NOW they know what it feels like and I think the team will be better next year. But some players NEED to go and if they can shore up their defense and get a another good hitter, I think we'll see them again in the WS soon.

    I think Phillies fans should be proud of their team first and then start bashing them for the loss(as a fan you have the right). I think next year is going to be really important for the Phillies to repeat this and win it all.

Sorry Thompson yanking your pitchers too early finally caught up with you... I'm sticking with my ace to get out of that inning... A strikeout or a double play and the inning is pretty much over.. he didn't really have any high leverage innings.. made absolutely no sense to me to pull him there.. especially when Alvarado came in last time and totally failed in that high pressure situation... It’s funny how you guys crapped on this team for most of the season but now you are singing their praises. Phillies had a remarkable playoff run and just ran into a better opponent in the World Series. Nothing to hang your heads about. This is coming from a Mets fan whose team won 101 games in the regular season and disappeared quickly in the first round. See you next season.

    • @NereoSal
      @NereoSal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And rightfully so since for the most part of the regular season the Phillies were only excellent at providing their fans with heart attacks and excruciating losses.
      They even tested our mental stability in the form of Jeurys Familia and Odubel Herrera.

    • @johnkearney2513
      @johnkearney2513 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NereoSal The regular season is overrated when three teams win over 100 games and are gone from the playoffs in a blink of an eye. The post season is what counts and the Phillies went to the WS out of the sixth seed. The Mets, Braves and Dodgers have a lot to work on.

    • @87Khein
      @87Khein 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The postseason is about getting hot at the right time. The Braves won the World Series without facing elimination a single game for the entire postseason as an 88-win team and lost in the NLDS as a 101-win team. They don’t “have a lot to work on.” They just need to play their best baseball at the right time.

    • @johnkearney2513
      @johnkearney2513 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@87Khein I would argue playing well when it counts is work. In the case of the Mets they also have to resign players who are worth keeping and replace ones that didn’t perform up to expectations. That won’t happen by itself. Hence, the term work.

    • @87Khein
      @87Khein 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pitching and better defensive play is what separated the two teams. Astros made a lot of huge defensive plays. McCullers had a melt down and so did Verlander in the first game other than Astros pitchers slam the door of Phillies hitters.
