Thanks for this. There has been a bit of discussion on these in the miniature figure painting community and it's good to have a review from another perspective. At least with wet palletes there won't be an issue with speading out and drying.

Thank you, Debora! These were a bit expensive, but they are very pigmented so I understand why. I was so mad at myself though, when I realized I had bought a duplicate of the black paint! I always try not to buy more paint than I think I will use at one time. I live 3 hours away from the nearest Blick, so it doesn't make sense to return it now. I think Golden paints are really great when you are ready to try the nicer paints. Liquitex is also really good; I have a hard time finding much of a difference in terms of paint quality and price. What really sold me on Golden over Liquitex was the paint tubes; they are so much sturdier and easier to open! It definitely would be amazing if I could work with Golden! Maybe if my channel grows a bit more... :)

I've been using these for a year now. Just like any new medium, taking time to learn them and their properties should always be the first thing to think about. Otherwise, I'm glad that you continued to try to use them and learn how they work best. They can be thinned properly with your standard thinners and extenders. I use mine on a wet palette and easily mix them with each other and with other paints from Golden.
I agree! They are wonderful paints, and I like using them. My first impressions are not always accurate; it does take awhile to get to know a new paint. There are many things about this video that I wish I could change. I will probably do a follow-up video at some point now that I have a better understanding of the paints. wow that was a fantastic review! You were very throughout and I like how you stated all of your biases while you were using the paints so we could take that into account. I like how you did swatches and color wheels as well as painted with it several times! Also, I am living for some of the artsy b-roll shots you got like rinsing the brush in the water!
Thank you, Sierra! I really liked those brush washing shots too! The way the SoFlat dispersed through the water was extra pretty, more so than my regular paints! It reminded me of clouds!
Great review video! I use a DIY stay wet palette that works really well for paints similar to these that dry out quickly, you just put a wet paper towel on your palette and then place parchment paper on top.
