Ashley Sheekey is an artist with a keen focus on the built environment. Intrigued by the intersection of public and private space, her ceramic works draw inspiration from the nuanced details observed during walks around Brighton & Hove. Currently residing there, Ashley finds inspiration in the city's paint-laden ironwork railings and ornate street furniture. Her creations capture specific moments, generously adorned, painted, and trailed with slips to emphasise textures and details under glazes. This results in ceramics that magnify thrown silhouettes, providing a unique perspective on the surroundings.
