I picked up this exact Boombox today at a local thrift store for $5.99 CDN. It works great except the fast forwarding doesn't move as fast a it should. It starts barely moving, then it seems just the left circle spins but not as fast as when it rewinds. Thanks for posting this video. Hopefully I can get it working 100% properly.
Found a teal coloured one at my local value village for $15 Canadian! The vid helped out a ton and is great for future reference!! I have no clue if the teal one is extremely rare, because I can’t find any pictures of one! it has a sticker on the front that says “glow series” 😚😚
Thank you so much for uploading this, I have the exact same boombox and it has been playing my tapes slow going to start with the belt and hope that'll do it. Peace and Love from NY.
Wow buddy you did more than I've ever done anything in my life and it works congratulations I've never heard of music search before at least the tapes and curious to see what that is
The music search is supposed to mute the output and scan the tape for blank spots and then kick the solenoid to drop it back into play mode when it gets to the right number of skipped tracks. I think that solenoid is fried on this guy... it does count the tracks so the circuit works, but it has no way of dropping back into play mode anymore. I have a number of other cassette decks that do the same thing.
Really impressive repair!! Maybe you could help me with my radio. I have the same radio, but after using it for a couple of times it won't turn on anymore. I figured it happened because it wasn't used for years, A friend told me it was probably the capacitors because of that reason, but I'm still clueless because I did not find any manual or schematics for this radio. You got any idea what to look for first or what is the probable cause?

I got a 1984 Sanyo C30 boombox fire band equalizer is got special features for the tape deck detachable speakers. It’s pretty good size.

You can bypass the belt issue with a cassette converter to a 3.5 mm and then connect it to your mp3 player.

Could be a few things. I'd check the switch first and go from there to see how far power is making it into the circuitry.
@@Oklawolf Thank you very much!
