    Driving Downtown Streets - Park Avenue - New York City New York USA - Episode 1.
    Starting Point: Park Avenue - goo.gl/maps/56... .
    Park Avenue is a wide New York City boulevard[4] which carries north and southbound traffic in the borough of Manhattan, and is also a wide one-way pair in the Bronx. For most of the road's length in Manhattan, it runs parallel to Madison Avenue to the west and Lexington Avenue to the east. Park Avenue's entire length was formerly called Fourth Avenue; the title still applies below 14th Street.[5] Meanwhile, the section between 14th and 17th Street is called Union Square East, and between 17th and 32nd Streets, the name Park Avenue South is used. In the Bronx, Park Avenue runs in several segments between the Major Deegan Expressway and Fordham Road.[6]
    Route
    The road that becomes Park Avenue originates as the Bowery. From Cooper Square at 8th Street to Union Square at 14th Street, it is known as Fourth Avenue, a 70-foot-wide (21 m) road carrying northbound traffic. At 14th Street, it turns slightly northeast to align with other avenues drawn up in the Commissioners' Plan of 1811. From 14th Street to 17th Street, it forms the eastern boundary of Union Square and is known as Union Square East; its southbound lanes merge with Broadway south of 15th Street, and the thoroughfare divides into two distinct portions in the one-block section between 14th and 15th Streets. From 17th Street to 32nd Street, it is known as Park Avenue South. Above 32nd Street, for the remainder of its distance, it is known as Park Avenue, a 140-foot-wide boulevard.
    In popular culture
    Will Smith, as a policeman, pursues a criminal by jumping off the Park Avenue Viaduct in the 1997 film Men in Black.
    In the 2007 film I Am Legend, Will Smith again appears on the Park Avenue Viaduct, where his character is captured by a vampire's snare.
    In the 2012 film The Avengers, the climax takes place on the Park Avenue Viaduct.
    On the TV series The Odd Couple, Felix Unger and Oscar Madison live at 1049 Park Avenue.
    On the TV series Diff'rent Strokes, Phillip Drummond, with his daughter, Kimberly and adopted sons, Willis and Arnold Jackson live at 697 Park Avenue.
    The PBS documentary Park Avenue: Money, Power and the American Dream sheds light on gap between the impoverished people living on Park Avenue in the South Bronx and the extremely wealthy living at 740 Park Avenue in Manhattan.
    In the song "Youth Gone Wild" by American band Skid Row, Park Avenue is mentioned in the lyrics: "I said 'Hey man, there's something that you oughta know. / I tell ya Park Avenue leads to Skid Row.'"
    The stage and film musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying takes place in the fictional "Park Avenue office building of World Wide Wicket Company, Inc."
    The street lent its name to the Buick Park Avenue, a large luxury sedan that was produced from 1977 to 2005.[citation needed]
    In the intro to the late 1960s - early 1970s TV show Green Acres, Zsa Zsa Gabor's character sings "Darling I love but give me Park Avenue!", where she lived before moving to rural Hooterville with her husband, the lawyer-turned-farmer.[18]
    The City of New York, often called New York City or simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States.[9] Located at the southern tip of the State of New York, the city is the center of the New York metropolitan area, one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world.[10][11] A global power city,[12] New York City exerts a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace[13] defining the term New York minute.[14] Home to the headquarters of the United Nations,[15] New York is an important center for international diplomacy[16] and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world.

    あと、国産車(アメ車)よりも外車(トヨタ、メルセデス、BMWetc.)が多いようにも感じるよね。
    それから日本と違って、信号が黄色から赤に変わるようなタイミングで強引に突っ込んでいく車が全然いないのは感心した。日本がおかしいのかな😅

    who owns those cars and where can they park them at night?? do these old apartments have basement garage or something like that??

    • @alexfoster9753
      @alexfoster9753 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Newer apartment buildings sometimes have underground garages, older ones not so much. There's also public parking garages where you can rent a spot monthly or by the hour. Most people that live downtown don't have cars and if they do they don't drive every day (just for out of town trips, when moving something big etc) and take public transportation instead (parking is expensive and traffic makes driving slow). Lots of people drive to work from the surrounding suburbs/neighborhoods that don't have as much public transportation. You can also park on the street (if you find a spot).

    it's funny when people say the wish the could visit NYC cause to me I live in at the bottom of CT no more than 45 mins away and I come all the time. The metro north trains come through every hour to bring people to Nyc or new Jersey cause were the tri state area

    • @tjjefferson3410
      @tjjefferson3410 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jennie O it ain't all sunshine and rainbows lol. since I live close there's people who live here in CT and go work in nyc and people who live in new York and come work in CT and theres literally stop and go traffic that starts at 7:00 a.m all week mon-fri going south towards Ny and the traffic ends at like 10 and then starts back up at 2 p.m coming back to CT and the traffic starts in the bronxs which is like 30 mins from where I live in CT. so just imagine how much time is wasted in traffic lol 😑😑

    • @JO-so1dk
      @JO-so1dk 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tj jefferson yes. Its very crowded there. I live 25 miles south of boston. It takes me about 3.5 hours to drive to manhattan. I only visit ny once in a while but i plan to make the trip a few times a year now. NY is an amazing city!

    • @tjjefferson3410

      Jennie O yeah it's nice I went yesterday. I drove but I should have took the train even tho it takes 30 mins more to get there if I would of drove which makes no sense cause there's no traffic on train tracks😂

    A wide variety of things can be done to reduce traffic congestion.
    As always, the regular public transport such as trains and buses always helps.
    Park and ride services are good too and should be heavily promoted to remind people such services exist.

    Keep it up (: Consider this idea, i am going to suscribe for future videos. I'm very interested

    Wow, Americans are driving such a huge cars and vans, some of them even twice the size of cars in Europe. If those were driven in European cities there would be a total collapse in traffic. :)

    I can't believe how long the highrises stretch! Also, since when is blue the standard colour for dress shirts? At one time most people wore white. And why doesn't anyone yield when people are trying to make a lane change? Isn't it an improper driving practice if someone ahead of you puts on the signal lights to change lanes and you just keep on going forcing them to sit there and wait?

    • @Nouvellecosse
      @Nouvellecosse 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Neeks Clemente I don't but the argument that this is just some universal aspect of large cities. This is a specific cities thing as there are other major cities that Utah has posted drives in that are different and I've driven in some myself where people don't do that.

    • @brithgob1620
      @brithgob1620 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This is a video of Park Avenue. Trump Tower is on Fifth Avenue. Since both roads run parallel to each other you won't see Trump Tower on this video. However, Mr. Utah has made a video titled "Driving Downtown - Fifth Avenue - New York City NY USA" where Trump Tower is visible at about 20 seconds in. Look for the clock.
      If you were driving on Park Avenue in Manhattan, you would drive up to 57th Street (at 18:38), turn left, and drive two blocks to Fifth Avenue. Tiffany & Co is on the corner of 57th and Fifth, and Trump Tower is next door.

    Good video...Love these driving formats..I'm a Brooklyn resident for 52 years...(new Yorker for life!)...But the city is just too congested for me.... Haven't been in the city In a couple of years...Yet this video brings me back to the electric ,hectic vibe that is constant... Like I always say,'if you can drive in NYC, you can drive anywhere'..Thanks for posting....Maybe In future you can venture into parts of Brooklyn....By coney island, Williamsburg,etc.... You can find every ethnic group in Brooklyn Just by driving across the borough...Historical too...Safe driving,!!!👍🚌🚐🚕🚗🚘🚦🚧🚙
