I'm an Australian ex Mormon who left the church ten years ago because I no longer subscribed to their beliefs. I joined the church as an adult because I was vulnerable and looking for answers to the meaning of life.
Many plain and precious truths have been taken from the gospel. THESE are the SIXTEEN verses removed from the KJV by the publishers of the NIV. Matt. 17:21 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Matt. 18:11 11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. Matt. 23: 14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Mark 7:16 16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. Mark 9: 44, 46 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 11:26 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 15:28 28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. Luke 23:17 17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.) John 5:4 4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. Acts 8:37 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Acts 15:34 34 Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still. Acts 24:7 7 But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands, Acts 28:29 29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves. Romans 16:24 24 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Davey Jones As an apostate, you will ROT away, like the Laws and her satanic allies. I wonder how you fell full of Satan and were drowned in Davey Jones' locker.
Welcome to a world where you sit around all day and bad mouth God's people all day trying to make yourself feel better. What a future. Take God away from.people and in a few years all you have left is a bunch of fornicaters and burned out drunks. I've seen it all my life.
@@richlopez4466 Escape from what, yourself? You can never run away from you. The only freedom that exists is living God's commandments. Any other path leads to captivity for eternity.
People may see these videos as spiteful or vengeful, but as a born-and-raised member of the LDS church, I am so grateful for these individuals and their messages. Only a member of the church can truly understand the pressures, the shaming, and the baseless guilt that comes from others as you embark on a path of reinvention and discovery. The heartache and worthlessness that I feel as I watch my parents, siblings and loved ones desperately scramble to keep me on what they believe is the one and only true path to happiness is, at times, unbearable. Knowing that I am not alone, and that others have felt the same hopelessness that I have felt is comforting. Liberating. And I thank you for that.
Jacob Warner Right on, brother. I have the same thing with my mother, as I am no longer a Christian. She raised me non-denominational, so the pressure is not quite as bad. However, I know that she worries about my "salvation." It's got to be a terrible feeling to think that your son is going to go to hell, and that you won't see him for all of eternity after death. I attended the Mormon church for about a year while dating a Mormon girl, and it's actually those experiences that made me leave behind religion altogether. It's really insane how much pressure is put on the Mormon people. I'm no longer dating the girl, but her parents recently kicked their son out of the house for not believing. That's just just a shame, to choose a fairy tale over your own son. I used to watch little 3 and 4 year olds go up in front of everyone and give their testimonies, which were sometimes identical to the adults. "I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's one true church." There was not a single testimony I ever heard that didn't contain at least one of those lines. It's funny because they usually testified to the church and to Joseph Smith, rather than Jesus Christ himself. But for little kids to be going up there and saying that.... sheesh. Talk about brainwashing! Anyway, I'm glad you found your way out!
Speaking as an ex-mormon myself, the only people who would find these videos spiteful are mormons because "the devil often makes good look like evil and evil look like good! Don't be fooled by their false sincerity." I heard that so many times in the church.
Yeah. It's cause they teach this: "I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.” It's really sad because they think everyone except mormons are following the devil, and that the preachers of other religions are most likely knowingly deceiving people and worshipping the devil. The main thing I think that keeps people from leaving the church is that apostasy is the one unpardonable sin.
That's the funny irony of it; "Don't believe it just because we say so. Go find out for yourself if it's true. =D" Ok I did that. Yet why are they not happy with my answer? I gotta laugh about it because it keeps me from crying. ;)
"Fear is the motivator" is found also in a lot of other churches. I have attended the PIPC (Pacific Island Presbyterian Church), A.O.G church (Assemblies of God), Catholic Church, Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Jehovah Witnesses, Church of Christ, United Church of Tonga, Methodist Church and LMS (London Mission Society) Church and all of them use "fear" to motivate. This is not unique to the Mormon Church.
Jeremy Bowman Church can be much like drugs, it can help to alleviate anxiety and provide focus, but in the end it is an addiction. I have seen people really turn their lives around with the help of religion but they would surely have been better off if they had gone to counseling.
Jeremy Bowman Yes, adequate exercise can be really great for all sorts of emotional issues. I basically cannot sleep at night unless I get some serious exercise during the day.
What Church do you go to that asks nothing of you? You can't eat, drink & be merry and then expect The Lord to say "fine"! EVERY RELIGION HAS CONTROL. EVERY RELIGION HAS RULES. EVERY SINGLE ONE HAS A BELIEF SYSTEM TO BE FOLLOWED. If that is what you call "control" then you will ALWAYS have that in EVERY SINGLE RELIGION".
Jake Collings Wickedness was never happiness. AIDS. Lotta love and happiness there. Control your thoughts before assaulting. It shouldn't be that hard for a pea brain. Sorry, I lost control.
Jake Collings When asked how he "controled 13 million "Mormons" Gordon B. Hinckley said, "We teach them right priciples and they conrol themselves." WE CHOOSE to live well or badly. We choose to endure to the end or run like a frichted bird when the gainsayers start lying for their incomprehensible god.
I know this is an older video but I just came across it and it touched me. When I was a member (been out for many years now), I had a friend whose brother was gay and was dying of AIDS. They literally drove him out of the church because of how they trashed his brother and told him not to bother with him. I lost track of him once I left but I hope he's found happiness outside the confines of the church the same as this lady has.. The whole experience soured me to religion in general. Still count myself as a Christian but I've not been a regular church goer since I left.
I have seen so many responses from Mormons sharing their horrible experiences about Mormonism; accusations of deceit, lies, and propaganda espoused by the church. But, in the KJV, we are warned about false prophets and false teachers by Paul and Jesus. Paul emphatically taught salvation is by faith alone, not by works, in hundreds of verses. It it the responsibility of each person to discern the truth. Any intelligent person can realize the contradictions between the KJV and the BOM, the archeological evidence supporting the historical accuracy of the KJV, and none to support the BOM. The church may be evil, but the members have the responsibility and freedom of religion to walk out, no matter how difficult. The fact it is so difficult to break from the Mormon church should be a red flag warning that something may be evil about Mormonism.
I love it when people choose to break away from deep, dark, emotional blackmail.. and pursue the life they were meant to live. I celebrate with Ms. Pearson.
+Janograd why would I disrespect her by calling her so trendy name that you thought was cute? She is a woman of God and she has earned the right to be called just that, no additives or preservatives needed. If I wasn't a Christian I would tell you two things number 1, grow the fuck up and number 2, shut the fuck up but like I said you will never hear those words come out of my mouth because I'm a Christian
I’m a Ex Mormon and not active, but I feel the Mormon Church help me tremendously to be someone to care about my body, to feel my body was the temple of God,! When I got married I was virgin, And I thank my Mom and the Mormon church for the guidance and their principles they have :-) Now I am looking for a good Mormon guy, lol 😆
You are right Emily is very attractive. But I’m not an ex Mormon. Only can someone be saved by trusting in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Jesus said, “I am the truth, the way and the Life and no one comes to the Father but through Him.
I was raised Mormon & what I was taught about homosexuality is that God still loves them. We cannot judge them or condemn anyone for there judge is God not us. I was taught to love others regardless of who they are.
It's because of videos like this (and the hidden camera temple endowment clips by @newnamenoah- now those are CREEPY) that I gathered enough courage to tell my VERY Mormon parents that I wanted to leave the church just a few weeks ago. I'm 15 and loving every minute of being an ex Mormon. Thanks for this video, Emily.
"They may say that they are happy, but they will never have a fullness of joy". I am an ex-Mormon and have heard this and still hear this often. What an incredibly offensive, arrogant, and pretentious remark. My own parents have said this to me and it really hurts to know that they believe that about me. It is a huge unspoken strain on our relationship still. Just another prefect example of the capacity religion has to instill negative beliefs in people.
When you are afraid you say anything you can to deal with the fear. Your parents love you but they are afraid for you and so they say this to you hoping it will induce the same fear in you to come back. That's all. But be cautious that you label this "Church Doctrine" because it isn't. Too many people are confused on this point. Now... According to Mormon theology (what your parents believe and which you don't believe), you will not be able to have a fullness of joy in the next life. That is "Church Doctrine". However, that's for you and you alone to judge. You don't have to listen to what others tell you, you work out your own salvation and do what you feel God is leading you to do. If your parents are pushing you out because they have no room to love you for who you are that is a problem.
(I'm also an ex mormon and the main reason I left was because the hatred and narrow mindedness of people. You can't be right all the time. That's not how life works. You admit and learn from your mistakes, and move on. Not to mention all the bullcrap about the importance of marriage, male dominance, and women sacrificing their lives to provide for men. The only god I believe in now is George Carlin. May he rest in peace 🌹)
You are also told that, if you know the truth (the Mormon truth) and then leave the church, you will go to a lover level in the afterlife. They don't believe in hell and brimstone; rather, being apart from the Lord.
Ann Sawyer I get taught to question everything. In fact if ur not questioning things they legit panic. We have brains for a reason and I’m taught to use that. If I’m not happy with a doctrine then I question it and then answer it the best to the knowledge so I’m sorry u have had such bad treatment. I really am. We ain’t all bad and the religion does have good points. No need to bad mouth something u disagree with cause we ain’t harming anyone. My theory is I respect u and u repsect me. My best friend is Muslim and I’m mormon and we respect each other’s faith.
GREETINGS!!! I am now almost 68 years old. I was baptized in the Anglican Church. I consider myself to be a Christian even though I have not been in church for years. After I was divorced from my 1st wife in the year 2000, I dated a woman named Camille. She was well-educated, very intelligent, and had a good job. She considered herself to be a "Buddist." She was extremely liberal....OK fine. Well my liberal ex-girlfriend saw nothing whatsoever wrong with homosexual acts. All that education and NO COMMON SENSE! In response to Ms. Pearson and my ex Camille...you don't even have to consider organized religion . Ms. Pearson says her father died from AIDS - maybe he was doing something that he should NOT have been doing.
The golden plates were taken out of this world by an angel- right, and Jack climbed that beanstalk. You have to be out of your mind to believe this crap.
Spoken like a true gay, atheist, humanist and communist. You are why the world is in the state it is in. This age of decadence is quickly coming to a close. History will again repeat itself because of apostates like you. Eat drink and be merry for tommorow we shall die. That is the mantra of every fallen empire throughout history. You and your fellow humanists will soon gain a testimony of Christ. You and everyone who has ever lived will be called in to bow before our master Jesus Christ because He owns us. He bought our souls when he died on the cross and it was a very high price.
Nathan Knighton And your evidence for all that is....?....other than written words in an old book, I mean. I didn't ask anyone to buy my soul and I'm certainly not going to worship him for doing so. Did it not occur to you this jesus guy could've been deluded? A madman, maybe? Have you ever read the bible? Have you not noticed it's laden with contradictions, absurdities, endorsement of slavery, rape, mass murder...in both the old AND new testaments? Why would you defend such an abhorrent institution? As for decadence, neither atheism nor christianity has anything to do with decadence..or the opposite. You are guilty of stereotyping people, my friend - never a good trait to have.
Thank you for standing up for us! Mormons aren't the way everyone says we are. We are just normal people trying to live righteous lives. Please don't hate us just because we are mormon. We try like everyone else in this world to fit in and we don't mean any harm.
I like how she says she's happy while shaking her head... Curse body language and micro expressions right? She's had a hard life, and grew up in a faith she never understood with things she didn't relate to. That's all that is really said here. If people see anything else it's because they're projecting their biases and what they think into what they're seeing. Regardless of what we say, our bodies project what we are feeling and what we believe. And to an educated eye, there's a lot to see here that does not match what is being said.
@@loganhughes2935 Kindness can be used as a cover. Ask those "kind" members why Joseph Smith needed to marry other LIVING men's wives (polyandry)? Ask them why they feel Joseph Smith was right in lying to his own wife Emma ( and his community) about his polygamy? And why was it necessary to marry teenagers as part of his polygamous "family"?? Why is it necessary to pay money to a tax exempt, government approved, corporate entity (LDS Inc) in order to get into the Celestial Kinkdum? Everything will be fine in your Colorado Ward---as long as you buy into everything Mormon they're a-sellin'!! Ask those questions and you may find out real quick just how "kind" they really are! :)
Emily, thank you for sharing your story. It thrills me to see the many people that can be open to gays and see whats in their heart. It was not until I met a gay person that I could truly understand and see the wonderful, lovely, sensitive people they really are!
Oh yeah they’re lovely insensitive all right. Look what happened they had to push that homosexual marriage and now look at his perverted agenda they’re trying to push our children you tell me he’s homosexual should be able to parade in front of first graders and drag queens come to visit to kindergarten? This is just an attempt and I’m not Mormon I am a believer in Jesus so how much sexuality is a sin as the Bible says is an abomination and even common sense will tell you that these people are extremely dysfunctional. Got hurt him over to a reprobate mind.
I just finished reading Carol Lynn Pearson's novel, Goodbye, I Love You. Reading it, I couldn't help but feel so sad about how Gerald had the strength and desire to leave the Church he knew he loved, to just forget about the gospel that has taught him so much about God's plan for him and his family. I cried when at the end of the novel, realizing that Gerald never went back to Church. I asked myself how could he just turn away from his testimony, from the words he bore when he was a missionary of the Church. Surely, as a returned missionary myself, Gerald had those assurance that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church on earth. Because if he didn't believe in that, he wouldn't have finished his mission, he wouldn't have got married in the temple and Carol Lynn would have not chose to stay in the Church even after he left her. Emily, I don't know if you'll ever read this, but just in case, in just some fortunate reason that you'll go to this video and read the comments, I just want to let you know that I understand your dad and I understand how you feel. You and your dad were hurt. I have experienced the same hurt you have experienced even with my young age. But still, I choose to be a member of the Church because I know it's true. I have pleaded and knelt down in prayer to know if this Church is true and every time, every time in all those prayers the answer has been clear to me. I hope you'll give the members of the Church a second time to share with you the message the we all live by each day. This life is tough and God made it that way for us to learn and grow. We only have to listen carefully to the whisperings of the Spirit so that we could be guided to what God wants us to do and become. I know your father is a wonderful man. In the next life, I want to just hug him. He's a great man who just needed to find himself. But I know if he embraced the gospel he taught as a missionary, you and your family's life would have had a different story. And I can say that because God has promised that as long as we keep his commandments and be faithful to Him and his gospel, we will always be all right. Please, Emily. Just give the church one more chance. Please.
Well, I know the Mormon Church is NOT true. Jesus Christ is true! He is "The way, the truth, and the life, and NO MAN comes to the Father except through Him. But Joseph Smith was about as far from a prophet of God as you can get. A swindler, sex addict, liar, fictional story teller, yes - but a prophet, absolutely not! There's a reason most Mormons were born in the faith, rather than converts. When you are taught from your first breath that the church is true, it''s embedded in your brain. There's also a reason the Mormon Church is facing a mass exodus. Eyes are being opened thanks to the information available on the internet to expose the lies and coverups. Their numbers are growing exponentially every day. You are basing your faith on feelings not truth. I hope some day you open your closed eyes and ears to the truth.
“We are greatly misunderstood, and I fear that much of it is of our own making. We can be more tolerant, more neighborly, more friendly, more of an example than we have been in the past. Let us teach our children to treat others with friendship, respect, love, and admiration. That will yield a far better result than will an attitude of egotism and arrogance.” (Gordon B. Hinckley, General Conference, April 2000).
Actually, I see that the opposite is true concerning the understanding that others have concerning the LDS corporation. I am all too familiar with the claims that are presented by Smith and Young. Even the later "prophets" of Mormondom misrepresented the Jesus of the Bible(the REAL Jesus)by attempting to replace Him with one that was the brother of Lucifer! There can't be a worse blasphemy that this one !!!! Further, Young, at one point, claimed Adam was God. Such people who spread such error will reap the rewards of their error.
Stephen Hess There is an eternity to face. You forget that NOT everyone that is blessed in this existence goes to God's dwelling. OOPS ! I forgot that Mormons ultimately become their own "gods". Maybe Lucifer gave you what you have. You certainly can't give the glory for your "prosperity" to the God of the Bible. He didn't come from Kolob....
Wow! The Mormon church REALLY tells you that you cannot be truly happy outside of the Church?? Did not know this, very helpful to know, as I keep getting invited by them to examine their beliefs, and to read the BOM.
That is a very bad over simplification of That LDS belief. A better and way more accurate description would be: you won't find lasting happiness outside of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The ancient definition of "church"= propitious character. LDS= theocracy. You are either WITH them or AGAINST them. LDS is ALSO Castores repatriation project for British government, Smith myth in the role of Castor, Young in the role of Pollux via American Moses (encryption). It's really that simple. They bait membership via hedonism. Paedophilia was initially used for this purpose but faded to elite late 1800. Core is still there, just it's the privilege of the elite, including black mass. Currently they will feed, clothe and employ you IF you are worthy (willing to join their church). Evil? Luciferian mysticism controls the planet, this one of it's manifestations in a public that is by and large unwilling to perceive reality.
Zach Pearce Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile" MORMONISM IS A NOTHER GOSPEL! Galatians 1:8 "But even if we, or an ANGEL from heaven, should preach to you ANOTHER gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accurse."
Emily, I can't imagine you still read the comments from this video but on the off chance, I'll tell you your video changed my life profoundly. I'd just been reseased from a bishipric when I stumbled upon your video and fooled myself into thinking my faith was solid enough to withstand anything you had to say. This and other things broke my shelf and caused me to examine everything carefully and I arrived at all very startling conclusions. It was hard. This new truth unraveled an 18-yr marriage which, as it happened was toxic and abusive and the light of the sun I can now enjoy is more genuine than anything I've ever before experienced. Thanks to you.
I am a LDS member in Taiwan and converted at the age 17. I confirm the only thing for us to get in the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints is eternal life. Maybe you are still very happy after leaving LDS, but this happiness is temporary and last on this life only but can’t be forever. The LDS pioneers suffered very much on the way moving to west but were still happy. They all knew there will be the blessing of eternal life to wait for them, and the suffer is temporary. 「that they should suffer no manner of afflictions, save it were swallowed up in the joy of Christ.」(Alma 31:38)
I saw this video in 2012 when I was a miserable closeted Mormon. It's almost 2019 and I can say now that I am a happily out gay, ex-Mormon who has had wonderful relationships with gay men. This video helped me get to this point. Thank you.
I am an ex-Mormon now born again Christian. Even though I did some of the ritualistic features such as baptism for the dead and sacrament, I didn't really know what all the theological heresy they believe until after I became a Christian and studied Mormonism. After I studied the Bible in depth, I started taking a look at Mormonism and then seen that Mormons cannot believe both the Bible and the book of Mormons, D&C, and Pearl of Great Price. I believe, with all honesty, that Mormons grow up being fed the doctrine to the point they want to believe it so much because it's all they have ever known. And I am in the middle of the Utah Mountains surrounded by the LDS community in my neighborhood and they are great friends of ours, and I pray that God opens the door to share my faith and what the Bible really says. Praying for Mormons.
shanestjohn1 You are one lost and confused individual. I could show you easily where you went wrong and I can show scriptures YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! You really need to study better and wise up!. The LDS church is true just as much as 2+2=4. Wise up!
Justin Snyder Oh, so you don't have any idea then.... All you can say is wise up and that I am wrong. You actually cannot rectify what I have brought up so you therefore can only tell me that you and the church are right and that I am wrong with no evidence. And you say that I don't understand. Justin, I really pray you receive the true Jesus Christ in your life. Not the one that is made up from JS. I honestly pray that you will come to know Him. I love you too much to see you go to hell and that is where I believe you are headed.
shanestjohn1 It really doesn't matter to me what you believe regarding me going to hell. I assure you, I know more about where I am headed than you do about where YOU are headed. Your words of "I love you too much to see you go to hell and that is where I believe you are headed" come with the same conviction of love that Judas Iscariot had for Christ. In other words, your feelings betray others and you are in a world of denial. At this point I don't feel you are even close to a point where you will accept truth. So you go right on believing where I will go. However, I assure you that when you pass away from this life with that belief, you're in for a world of surprise and hurt. I know you're wrong just as much as I know that 2+2 is not 5. So you go right on believing and being deceived. You'll find out eventually how wrong you really are. I suggest you wake up and realize the road you are on is not a good one. Wise up!
shanestjohn1 Glad to hear you've gotten free ! You are well on your way to greater freedom than Mormonism(or any "ism")could offer. I have studied such pseudo-Christian groups for years, and NONE of it looks good ! Keep praying and believing God...
Robert Allison You're a foolish individual to call Christ's church "pseudo" meaning false. I challenge you to anything you want to discuss about that. I can prove to you that history shows MANY false churches and the LDS church to be true. I can make your head spin and show you how flawed your viewpoints are. Up for the challenge? I can show you truth and show you the contradictions in your viewpoints. You think you can to me as well. I challenge you then. You need to learn to wise up!
I am gay and an ex mormon and I know God is my heavenly father and he loves me the same as everybody and Jesus is my Lord and Savior. God Bless You, Miss Emily.
if the Son of God was your Lord, you would follow His walk, His Father's instructions for your life, "YOU" are lord of you, you follow your flesh,, and the Spirit, that has control of your behavior is a pervert, and you think those thoughts in your head are your thoughts, you are just a puppet of a pervert Spirit, that's why you need to "READ" your Creator's instructions for your life, starting with genesis-Deuteronomy you have a choice, use it to glorify your maker, tell that pervert spirit to leave, so you can live the life that brings honor to your family
God loves you just as much as anyone else just like how if you do something wrong your earthly parents still love you but they wish you would choose the right
Thsiscool in the book of Hebrews in the bible talks about how we have a father of our flesh which is your dad here on earth so this book of hebrews say we have the father of our spirits which is God. And so that's part of gods goal for us is to come to earth and live nice and make his kingdom here on earth so we can learn and grow and return more happy back to God. But we need a male n female to send those who are in heaven to come down and experience and learn and grow too
Well, I'm not Mormon, but I did not understand, so, her father cheated on her mother, who as it appears still cared for him until he died (from a disease he got from cheating), then her husband turns out to do the same, I mean he married her while being gay (not bisexual). And that is what set her free? So the cheating husbands are the heroes here? The beautiful people in her life? Sounds more like a domestic abuse pattern to me than a positive experience. The abuse seems so bad that she even idealizes the agressor turning her against her belief system which tells her that what happened to her is not ok. She even (in her mind) placed the responsibilty of what happened to her on someone elses shoulders so she could idealice the abuse as something positive. Wich most likely ended with her alienation from her community. Actually this is almost text-book abuse victim conduct. And the person who gets 0 credit is her mother, whom I would guess,is a mormon. And for what she said took care of her alone, while dealing with a dying husband. And I know people will comment they didn't cheat because they were gay and following their "true self", but if your husband sleeps with someone else, or marries you knowing he is gay it is cheating. Actually doing that is so incredibly selfish that is sexism in a whole new way. I know media gives us the impression that gay people are somehow always correct. And whenever someone points out anything wrong with any gay person is suddenly because you're a hater. Actually the belief that only heterosexual people cheat or break families is kind of heterophobia.
I'm not Mormon, but I follow a podcast by two ex-Mormons, one of whom is gay, and they often discuss these kinds of topics with guests, so my take on this has been influenced by actual gay Mormons. Said take being that religion is what underlies those tragedies: if her father and fiancee hadn't been raised Mormon, inculcated with a deep antipathy for their own natural sexuality, and simultaneously pushed into taking on the mantle of the priesthood including starting a large family at a young age, they would not have deceived her or her mother. Her father would have been free to pursue a healthy homosexual relationship instead of skulking around and contracting AIDs due to unsafe sexual practices (which are correlated with viewing what you're doing as shameful). Of course her father cheated on her mother and damaged her childhood, and is responsible for these actions, as much as he was for deceiving her into marriage in the first place, but to pretend that this wasn't in large part a consequence of religious pressures is to be dishonest.
I did think about her mother. Nothing changed. Religion was still a horrible force here that played an obvious role in the father's decisions and actions. What conclusion was I supposed to come to? That religion didn't play a role? Please say what you mean instead of leaving it to be inferred. BTW, why do you think the mother probably stayed with the husband? Ponder that for a while. You're talking about abuse, but I see a church that tells people to stick in loveless marriages because of some mystical idea that marriages are for eternity, and that prayer will solve all problems ... THAT's setting people up for abuse and all sorts of emotional damage. So yeah, the father is responsible for his actions, but why do you refuse to accept that the Mormon church and its teachings played a huge role in these events? It's not like this woman and her mother are the only Mormon women to have been placed in exactly the same situation...
I really wished you would do some reading before commenting. Domestic violence knows no boundaries or religion, or education, or age or ethnicity. You know not what you're talking about.
Grace Lozada And you know how much reading I did ... how? Did I claim that only Mormons engage in cheating and lying about their sexual orientation? No, so I would appreciate you not trying to misrepresent my statements. You're being childish now, stating that I don't know what I'm talking about simply because I have the nerve to disagree with you. My claim remains that religion played in huge role in her father and previous fiancee's actions. You can disagree all you want, I'm done talking with you, since you don't have the honesty or interest in getting at the truth required for holding a productive conversation.
I grew up Mormon. I have a hard time attending church for many reasons. The main reason is that the people are just so judgmental. And they know who made mistakes by seeing who hasn’t took the sacrament . The people who aren’t happy that leave the church , they aren’t happy because their family shames them for their decision of leaving and makes them feel bad but if their family was accepting of their choice they’d be more happy
Makenna Kelia You don't need to attend sacrament to be saved. The book of Mormon says Jesus saves. I read LDS Church material daily and pray. My wife isn't into Mormonism, and the tithing is ridiculous, it would be $12,000+/yr. I'm not paying that, and although I could lie and pay $100/year, they don't say where the money goes. And then I get to attend a fancy building, which while interesting, doesn't offer salvation to any degree. The nice thing is you can eliminate all the judgement by not attending. I'm not into having the Bishop visually critique my suit, its uncalled for. All judgement is human nature. And now they have women teaching classes? I get enough of that at work and from my wife. All this plus no callings ever is why I quit going. Whether I'm alive or dead doesn't matter. Home teaching? Never, since 1995. Better off praying and studying alone.
@@makennakeliarose7063 I love how judgmental you are towards church members (basically implying they all have negative motives when dealing with you) all the while calling THEM judgmental......look in a mirror honey.
where does anyone say in the church that Satan is gay? One cannot take this woman seriously. Why not be honest and say "the reason why I left the church is because I have a chip on my shoulder, I'm easily offended and it's too hard to live the tenets of this religion" "oh, and I really want to have a glass of wine" I'm gay and have NEVER had anyone ever say anything derogatory to me and for the past two years have been adult Sunday School teacher and before that was councillor in Young Men. Seriously, these ex mormons do so much damage instead of looking at temselves
I'm glad you saw the truth and left the church. That church put me and my daughter in danger by not telling us that the man that married me in the temple was always sexually active since his childhood and had sex with his sisters, step sisters and prostitutes. He was allowed to go on a mission and marry me in the temple. Do you have any idea how this ruined my beautiful little girl ?? I am greatful for every ex mormon sharing their stories. I'm going to have to speak my peace sooner than later. My family thought I was an idiot for joining the church.
Thank you SO much! I needed this confirmation! What a way to begin 2018! I felt like her when I was a member, CRAZY! Once I left, the oppressive feelings vanish! God is good!
Why don't you guys ask the American Indians about the Book of Mormon? This is their Story. If the stories in the Book is really about their ancestors, then, Joseph Smith was just an instrument to brig them back home. We will take it from there. Have you seen the movie" Apocalypto" ? This is part of the American Indians history that is After Mormon and Moroni...
Yeah, she looks very happy with the Hollywood and gay lifestyle, and she can make videos and blame the church for all her problems. She is happy indeed.
@@cdowis True that she doesn't need to blame the church and that Hollywood lifestyle is wrong. At least she was able to escape Mormonism is the point of positivity
It was divine intervention that brought them to the Truth, in mormonism, they followed a false christ and a false gospel. Mormon's face condemnation by following a false christ. Praise God that those ex mormons found Truth! It's what you should do.
Contentious Christian You just keep repeating this same mantra over and over, it doesn't make it true. How is it a false Christ? The son of God? Born of Mary? Died for our sins?
Shawn Gordon This is exactky why you have been blinded. Please listen, mormon jesus is satans brother, but Jesus Christ is the Eternal Creator of ALL things, including Satan. Colossians 1:16, "For by him All things were Created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him." So again mormon jesus is satans brother, Jesus Christ is the Creator of all things including satan. two completely different Jesus' And only One Jesus can save us, Only One. Please understand if mormonism is right, well I still go to heaven!! WoooHooo! But if I am right, mormons will hear Christ say this, "Away from me, I never knew you." So I am not anti-mormon at all, I am anti-false christ false gospel.
Ok, so you have a vast misunderstanding of Mormon doctrine, that is clear. Let's try this, because I see where your misunderstanding is. Where did Satan come from?
So happy for u . its prob not a coincidence that my 1st cousin married a man named mark pearson. This mans dad was named mardin peaeson. Lived in salt lake city. We were all Mormons then. My dear cousin Married mark no knowing he was Gay! Christ sake she met him while He was on his mission. The burning scar is still inside me. Though am now 55 yr old man I still wonder how things weren't as they seemed. Ive learned to live with joy in my life since then, but For shure im glad that i was able to get out in the world an learn that only thru christ we are free. U are so very brave to come out an break bondage in life that may have consumed you. I know my dear sister now u are free. Your light is brilliance. Ur love for others Is great. ---Cole- Why is it hard for you to believe all the "Mormon haters"?? Just look at your practice of polygamy. Where did Jesus EVER promote polygamy...Bible OR Book of Mormon?? LOOK at your doctrine that banned blacks from priesthood and temple participation! Look at your official bigotry toward gays AND THEIR CHILDREN!! LOOK at the LDS history of it's suppression of women! You KNOW about all this...and *STILL YOU WONDER WHY* all the hatred toward Mormonism?? Really??
disagreeing with something is not bigotry! i think many people need to look that word up! there is a big difference between believing something is wrong and completly condemning someone for it! that helps no one!
What are 1769 King James Version edition errors doing in the Book of Mormon? An ancient text? Errors which are unique to the 1769 edition that Joseph Smith owned? When King James translators were translating the KJV Bible between 1604 and 1611, they would occasionally put in their own words into the text to make the English more readable. We know exactly what these words are because they're italicized in the KJV Bible. What are these 17th century italicized words doing in the Book of Mormon? Word for word? What does this say about the Book of Mormon being an ancient record?
The message that she states about being happy and non-judgmental resonate the most with me. The LDS church taught me that I could never be truly happy outside of the LDS church. The phrase "truly happy" is used quite a bit in the LDS church and they cast doubt as to whether you can "truly happy" if you aren't a member. Mormonism is a very controlling religion. They tell you that baptism isn't valid unless it's done by someone with a lineage to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. They tell you that you must accept Joseph Smith as a prophet of God to return to God. They say that Christian churches are false. They even tell you that the Holy Spirit can't be a constant companion without LDS baptism. Once you learn what a fraud the LDS church is you can move past the control. You won't have to throw away your intellect when it comes to dealing with the impossibilities of Mormonism. You won't have to pretend that the Book of Mormon doesn't really represent the modern day teachings of your church. The real core of Mormon doctrine such as eternal progression, priesthood, temple endowment, baptism for the dead, word of wisdom, and many other LDS beliefs were developed later on by Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is a hook because it doesn't have so much of the anti-Christian doctrine.
I just think it's important that these videos don't give the impression that if someone leaves Mormonism that he or she will automatically be happy let alone "truly happy". Otherwise, it gives people unrealistic expectations.
Smithpolly I agree that leaving the LDS church doesn't make someone automatically happy. What Emily Pearson is doing is dispelling the LDS myth that people can't be truly happy outside of the LDS church. It's an enslaving teaching
Smithpolly Basically, a fullness of happiness. I'm being figurative now and these are my own words to explain it now, but think about it like they say that inside the church you might reach happiness at level 10 but outside the church you'll only reach a 7 or 8. Here is something from the actual church site: www.lds.org/bc/content/shared/content/images/gospel-library/manual/12339/happiness-gague-line_1499023_prt.pdf "Is there any chance of a man becoming happy without a knowledge of the gospel of Christ? … Though in the world [people] try to make themselves happy, still they are not successful in what they strive to accomplish. They cannot be happy, except upon one principle, and that is by embracing the fulness of the gospel," From LDS.org, the teachings of Lorenzo Snow.
Moroni Baloney I'm not sure that you can measure happiness that way but let's say Emily Pearson is at a 7 of happiness now. Would that make you think she was wrong to leave the Mormon church?
People told you that Emily... not the church! I met you years ago with the man you are talking about... you did not see the truth then and it is not coming through now either. It is our job to love gay people... all people for that matter period. Glad you are doing that. Just not feeling love or truth in your words.

Some people like being mormon..some don't. At the end of the day, everyone should just mind their own fucking business. Have your religion, just don't enforce it into legislation or other people's lives.
I sense from reading these posts that there are many here who once felt the love of God through the guiding influence of the Holy Ghost in their lives. People who once knew they felt so much like being home after attending their first few sacrament meetings. People who felt happiness for doing the selfless acts of love for their relatives that could only be performed for them in the Temple. Other people who once felt at the end of their tether, challenged to extremes but still trusted that God was still going to come through for them. Then, just when all hope had gone, his miracles came about and he supported them in their anguish at that last moment as he had promised he would predicated upon faith in Him. I have had such circumstances twice in my life and after the challenge was endured and strength prevailed , then and only then the Lord was there for me to make a change in my circumstances. As President Dieter F Uchdorf said, "Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith". Given as a testimony to those who have chosen to endure to the end.
I am still a member of the LDS/Mormon church and I don't think that I will ever change that. I have tons of friends and family members who are either gay (loud and proud) or who have same-gender attractions (and all that jazz). We all get along just fine. Some of them had been active members in the Church until they came out, but none us have ever judged or looked at each other any different. In fact, at least once a month, my gay family and friends attend church in my ward. (granted that we all live in New Zealand - where it's like --- "SO WHAT if you are or not? Geez get over yourself!! and we're not so in your face and over-boringly-baring with the whole "Human rights and Civil liberties and political protest shenanigans" like America.....we teach Love God and Love Thy Neighbour as thyself....and all the other commandments. (haha)
And so What!!! I must say, I love that logic. Yes it is a struggle, but many including David Archuleta, are still loved and praying to have things different. Your reply helps everyone. No wonder I love NZ.
God Bless you lady...That must been so hard to leave...but that would take someone so strong to do what you have done. don't look back you have come too far to go back. Jesus loves you and you are and amazing person.
Chef Asbury Hey chef Asbury, I hate religions myself and even Jesus hated religion too...So I'm not sure if you know what you on about, and I'm happy that you don't like it either.
I don't think people should condemn a church for another person's words or actions. Yes the church is an important thing in many members lives. But , because some one said that something is wrong like being gay... It may be looked down upon like in many other congregations , but we have agency to say what can be harmful or harmless. It's the people who should be condemned and not the church and by church I mean the the gospel, in this case it would be the bible and book of Mormon.
Vlad IV Dracul-The Impaler1216 I think if you should have a valid statement to say, you should learn how to communicate properly, so people can take you seriously.
i am Mormon i am sorry for what you have gone through. We hope that you come back to church. i am a young woman and i am positive that if you come back things havechanged
Emily, you're an ex-mormon. But more importantly you're a human who lives, loves, enjoys life, and makes joy for the lives of others too. I also left the church. I'm SO happy to see others being vocal about it. And I'm so very sorry about what happened with your dad.
I am sorry that you and Emily had to experience that. I hope that you can still find God in other ways even though you left the church because you don't necessarily need to go to church to have God. it is just the teaching and praising and fellowship there
yes I was a Mormon because of my blinding love and faith in a gown up as a child. But when I went to ask leaders of the LDS Church for help from an abusive mother and neglectful father, I know something was wrong when they told me to Obey my parents. Now I am an Ex Mormon and free and loved.
W K Pattison I got the same response from my bishop when I was a teen. My TBM mom and nevermo dad were verbally and physically abusive to me and I asked him what he could do to help me. His response was that my mom is a good faithful woman in the Church and I should consider ways to strengthen my relationships with my parents. That insightful response helped me reconsider his worthiness and validity as a priesthood bearer, and became one of many events and discoveries I found that led me to leaving the "church" for good years later.
Sister Manwearing and Sister Spring where the first missionaries to visit me and guide me through the book of Mormon. They were both so lovely and deeply caring in my time of need. Sister Manwearing's Great great great grandfather wrote several hymns in the Mormon hymnbook. I also met her parents and we had a wonderful time visiting and walking around the gardens of the Kirtland Temple. I miss them so deeply they gave me light for a new life.
Um, no. I don't see that. I see that she "is" happy. You must be a Mormon telling yourself she's unhappy, because you don't want to believe someone can actually be happy outside of your religion.
+Christon Varner-Halback actually i am agnostic, but you can see her pain in her eyes, look at the ways she move her eyes and the way she exagerate some parts (tryng to convince you about how happy she is) she is not really happy ;)
Dear Bearded Orca, You exercised your right to free will. This is a wonderful thing to know that you have choices. To thine own self be true! The Mormon Temple in Kirtland is visited by thousands of LDS members every summer. When I was a teenager I painted a portrait of the temple. Only recently have I learned the significance and historical importance of this church. The missionary sisters visited me for over year. I have read The Book Of Mormon and I attended many of theirservices and their gatherings. They were all very kind to me in welcoming but I made it clear that I could not join the church. I carry goodness in my heart and soul and I was taught to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. In other words treat people as you would like to be treated in return. I think my mother for these words of wisdom. I wish you well.
Yes Emily that was terrible that you thought you had to make a choice. I'm sorry you had to go through what you went through what you went through but anyone in any church who told you what you said they said is wrong whether it came from a mormon, a catholic, a jew, a protestant. What was said to you was not the mormon church it was someone who misrepresented the mormon church just as anyone can misrepresent any church. I hope you find all the happiness in the world whether you are mormon or not. This isn't about who can say bad about a religion. Please be careful.
No, this is the type of behavior displayed by most people in Mormonism. It's the church's fault for teaching them these things whether taught directly or subconsciously. Your church is far from perfect, the members are a lot better than the church.
Okay Frank, you seem be be talking from a position of knowledge. I'm hope that I can assume you are an honorable and honest person. Could you please show any documentation of official church doctrine, Mormon or otherwise that say that Satan is gay. There people in every religion that say things that are wrong that doesn't make christianity wrong. Also verbally attacking ones parent for any reason is wrong. Also saying that people are being affected subconsciously is conjecture.
Steven Turley She never said it was doctrine. She said members believed that. Back when I was Mormon some members in my ward believed it. Satan is everything that is bad, right? I guess that's their logic.
Again how many said that 1,5, 10, 50 it still doesn't make it most. I've never heard anywhere by anyone of any religion. Satan plan is to thoart the plan of God. It's not about all things bad. There's a difference.
Steven Turley So why is it that people in her ward believed this and also in my ward? There's correlation here. It matters not, she spoke the truth in that people said Satan was gay.
+cdowis Don't worry. I was born and raised in the that church and even went on a mission. I know the real Mormons and was once one. I now live amongst them. That is why I am waiting for the sequel that represents the average member such as how I once was.
Why would an all-powerful god become flesh in order to sacrifice himself to himself so that his creation might escape the wrath of himself? Couldn't this god, in his infinite wisdom, come up with something a little more efficient? Religion has nothing to do with experience or reason but with deep and irrational needs.
Religion teaches these far out tales that are intent on confusing the human mind. They will never admit it, but that's essentially how they work. Thank god I am a free thinker. lol
GTown Dave I don't believe there is such a thing as a free thinker, for we are all shaped by experience. You may have escaped one source of indoctrination but you cannot escape them all.
ShamelessHorse I think you have a good point, but just the fact that you are aware that there are indoctrinating forces out there points to the idea that you are a free thinker. :) Unless someone indoctrinated you with that idea?
ShamelessHorse"I don't believe there is such a thing as a free thinker..." Is that supposed to be insightful? Do your reasons for not believing in free thinkers make you a free thinker+? Of course we're shaped by nature and nurture and everything that we are exposed to conspires to influence us. There IS a difference, however, between people who blindly allow outside influences to lead them by the nose and people who value the ongoing process of recognizing the attempts at manipulating them while they strive to maintain their independence. Maybe you'd like to have it called the as-free-as-you-can-relatively-be-thinker?
I'm LDS and I have families members that are gay and I love them. The church of the gospel doesn't teach us to reject people because of their sexuality or because they are from different churches.
+Jacqueline Alvarado You really shouldn't lie. Isn't that against your beliefs? They sure do preach against homosexuality. We were told gays were the worst of the worst and forbid to go to other churches. The LDS church pressured members into giving what totaled millions of dollars to pass Prop 8 denying gay Californians the right to marry. The reason that you lie or are willfully ignorant is because you know it's not right to be bigoted and are ashamed.
writerteacher1 Quite clear. Sexual behaviour outside the the husband/wife relationship is a sin. Whether same sex or opposite, it is the same.. "The new morality is just the old immorality".
Nice flip version of the LDS PR effort. You go girl. Strong, happy and liberated. Pay no heed to the abusive comments "Good" Mormons and Christians are leaving for you here. Welcome to the real world. Cheers!
Real world LDS> LDS= Cult of Castores via ontoencryption. Smith myth= Castor. Brigham Young= Pollux via AKA "American Moses". It's a hoax. Americans LOVE the mysticism and comfy bedtime stories that assure them they will have an eternal food supply, a "peace" and whatever degenerate entertainment they prefer on a planet all their own after they mastered THIS one in perpetuity.
What a beautiful lady you grew up to be. I too a a convert to the church and felt very sure of so many things about the church and accepted them as truths from God. However 6 years later and discovering so many things about the church and how they go so much against the bible and God I have had to make new decisions regarding what I believe. And now with the new church policy regarding children of same sex parents and how the church is deliberately casting these children and marking them in the eyes of the church is so wrong that it is the farthest away you could ever get from Christianity. Joseph smith had to leave towns because he broke so many laws of the lands and yet the church preaches to obey the laws of the land, the poligamy that still goes on to this day was practiced back then and society treated joseph and his followers the very same way that the church in treating Gay believers and now the children that they decided to raise when so many straight people would not. Proposition 8 and the funding of it to get people to pass it. Brothers in my ward actually brought the proposition 8 into our sunday school class and wanted each of us to read a paragraph and then pass it on. I would not do this and I was shocked that a church would even bring polatics into the sunday school classes att all. I would comment and bring up scriptures from the bible and The look on many of the brothers faces was just a blank stare like they didn't understand what I was talking about. I have began to now see that the brothers in the church walk more with joseph smith than the ever have with Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ went to the prostitutes to beggers, the thieves etc and all of the down trodden people and preached to them with the spirit of love and not the attitude of pompes indifference. I have seen and experienced many different types of discriminations that are being taught as teachings and light from God which are getting more and more cruel. I am beginning to see that the church is taking so much credit away from God and his son Jesus Christ and handing it all over tho the prophets of todays church and I find this very discusting. God says inn the bible to love our neighbors and love our sinners and to accept all who call on the God through Christ jesus.and the church has forgotten all that they went trough in history and are now commiting the very same sins that were cast on them by society in the beginning of the church. By doing so they are slapping trueth and fact and God in the face. I just cant see how God can truly be at the head of this church and telling the elders do do these terrible things to Gays. Blacks, or any minorities from any background. Have they really gotten so far into believing that they are gods now in our time in history to cast judgement down on others and encourage the members to see it and follow the rules that they make.,The God that I believe in cannot act in this manner or he would make himself out to be a liar and tha would mean that everything he says about being a god of love unconditionally and open his arms to all who call on him etc, would all be wrong? I have always overlooked so many ways that the church doesn't follow the bible and what is said in it by using the excuse that its not translated correctly. Ive tried very hard to understand the whys and dos and don't in this church but when wrong is wrong you have to expose it and call it as it just is. God is letting the truth ring out and that is why we are seeing an exodus of Mormons now calling the apostles of the church out on their hate and lies and rules and regulations that they say are in the name of God. God created us did he not All of us, not just some. He is our parent and he has to set the examples of love and forgiveness and not by marking ad descrimnation young children who are the innocent babies who only wanted to be loved by two hearts and two spirits. They didn't ask to become sacrificial lambs and promise to turn their backs on the very two people who clothed and fed them growing us just so that they may be deemed worthy by the president of the church! These two people only did what Christ said to do . If you see someone naked clothe them, or if you see someone hungry you feed them. Where did it ever say to mark them and destroy them! This is when you have to call the shots as you see them and you have to see the wrong for what it is. For a people who had such a hard time in history and have been discriminated against so much in so many ways I will never understand how or why they feel so threated and that they are being fired upon when they fired the first shot!
+David Deante FACT CHECK: Church Handbook gives policies and procedures for church leaders. These policies can be changed and modified according to changing conditions.. Recently this policy was clarified -- [quoted from the church statement] When a child living with such a same-gender couple has already been baptized and is actively participating in the Church, provisions of Section 16.13 do not require that his or her membership activities or priesthood privileges be curtailed or that further ordinances be withheld. [IOW it only affects minor children who are not members of the church] **Decisions about any future ordinances for such children should be made by local leaders with their prime consideration being the preparation and best interests of the child.** [local leaders are given flexibility based on the child's interests] *All children are to be treated with utmost respect and love. They are welcome to attend Church meetings and participate in Church activities. All children may receive priesthood blessings of healing and spiritual guidance.* www.lds.org/pages/church-handbook-changes?lang=eng
+cdowis Ridiculous apologetics to say the least. Jesus said, "Suffer the children to come unto me". Mormons teach that the age of accountability for children is 8. If a child brought up Mormon isn't baptized then by Mormon standards he bears the weight of his sins. Mormonism teaches that once you have been told the "truth" you are responsible to make the decision and to be baptized. The LDS chuch doesn't care about the marital status of the parents of potential members unless the parents are gay or if they are polygamists. It bears mentioning, because you cite that "all children are to be treated with utmost respect and love", that the LDS Church still conducts behind closed doors sexual interrogations of children in worthiness interviews. Children, both male and female, sit behind closed doors with adult male lay clergy and have to reveal if they have masturbated, been involved in petting, have seen pornography, etc. The Mormon obsession with sexuality is unbalanced and unhealthy. I take personal pride in knowing that before I came to the point of having children I left the LDS church, never subjecting my children to these misguided and sometimes damaging interrogations. Mormonism was started by Joseph Smith who had strong sexual passions and started underground polygamy. The Mormons now try to distance themselves from polygamy by treating polygamy as one of the high crimes of Mormonism, but even the change of the law didn't stop the polygamy of the 1800's and early 1900's, and it thrives now as part of the body of Mormonism in non LDS sects of the faith. Children are unprotected in the LDS church. Since I've left I've spoken with other ex or inactive Mormon members about a number of things. The women especially have spoken out on how creepy their behind door interviews with Mormon bishops were. In a few cases, the Bishops had asked for a lot of details including asking one former sister how she felt during the "sin". Children aren't safe in the LDS church. They are taught how to bear their testimony being given a script of words to say. I've seen 4 year old children "bearing their testimony" at fast and testimony meetings, often with the parents behind them telling them what to say. To members it looks cute and heartwarming, to the average person it seems to be more like indoctrination. There are of course many good things for the youth in the LDS church such as the scouts. The overwhelming majority of the adults teaching the children have their hearts in the right place. It's the constant push to control the beliefs of the children through guilt, shaming, and the rote bearing of testimony that is psychologically damaging.
CDqwis you are not correct in your interpretation of the new laws of the church. the church leaders said that all baptisms will not be made to occur until age 18 and then the child is strongly encouraged to turn their back on the very ones who raised them and deny them and their lifestyles. this would be very damaging to believe or be told that this is what God has told President Monson to a child to be made to feel2nd class and rebuked by God. I could not believe what I was hearing and how many were just following along as if this was ok. Well guess what its not o now nor will that ever be the the God that I believe in would believe let alone tell President Monson to relay this new light of regulations onto the members. What I cant understand is how joseph Smith could have over 30 wives and some of them being married and others being teen agers and how the children of all those people and decenedants cannot see the wrong in this but yet condem little innocent children and marking them because their parents are same sex!.After what Joseph smith and Brigham young did back then how dare they pass judgement on anybody.
+David Deante Congratulations on your exit from the Mormon Church. You are too weak and unsettled to be a Mormon right now. You saved us the trouble of throwing your ass out! We are always looking to rid ourselves of deadwood and misfits. Have a nice, unaccountable life.
John Lee Congratulations on repeating yourself over and over again, and for your imaginary career as a lawyer. Jesus Christ gave a wonderful gift and took in the weak and the sinner, but in Mormonism you buy your stairway to heaven with 10% off the top, giving up coffee, tea and oral sex, wearing underwear that has nothing to do with Christianity but rather with Masonic rituals, swearing secret surprise oaths in a manner that violates biblical restrictions on oaths, and whatever else Joseph and his replacements can dream up. Ex-Mormons are like judges who receive new evidence in an already adjudicated case and reverse their decision. The weak minded never take the time to weed through the BS inventions of Mormonism, the ridiculous notion that the Native Americans were Jews, the nonsense language of the Book of Mormon, the repeated scholarly dismissal of Joseph Smith's translations, and of the multiple iterations of contradictory church doctrine. Those people just stay in the lie and try to find fault with those who were more capable of discerning deception. There is nothing noble about remaining in a lie just to remain consistent.
I am currently a Mormon and a proud one at that. You can criticize that all you want but I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints and forever will be. I have gone through depression and the gospel has helped me out of it. Many people are saying that Joseph Smith was a false prophet who brought a false gospel. Joseph smith went to jail, was tortured, tared and feathered, and killed because of this gospel. If the gospel was not true then he would not have gone through that. He wouldn't have brought this into the world at all. The gospel teaches me so much and answers all my questions. Because of the gospel I will be with my Heavenly Father and Family after I die. I will be with the brother I never knew who died 2 years ago before birth. I believe that the gospel is the right way to go and you can never feel the joy and happiness from it until you get baptized, and go to the temple. It is the most beautiful place to be. I love being surrounded by my friends who believe in the same things I do. Yes the gospel restricts you from things but it does that to keep us safe and clean. Alcohol makes us drunk correct? That takes away our agency and will cause us to do things that we might regret in the future. I believe that the gospel protects those who follow it. I am protected by the Holy ghost and my Savior Jesus Christ. If you can’t accept that, that’s your problem, not mine. I am a Proud Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I thank God that I've never had to be part of any cult. I grew up in a secular home and became born again by the Spirit of God one evening in late 2013. While the mormons and such as JW are all cults who call themselves christian while they are not Jesus Christ IS the resurrection and the life. Please don't throw Jesus away because of corrupt traditions of men.
I’m 54 years old. I became member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was ten years of age, even though my parents remain Catholics. Being a member of this Church has been a blessing for me ever since. Emily, I feel for your father. I cannot imagine what he went through and yes, even the discrimination of members of the Church. The leaders of the Church do not teach discrimination. We will all going to be judged by a just God, not by men. He promises us great blessings if we keep His commandments and your dad like all of us are dependent of the grace of Christ. We are all imperfect, we are all trying to do our best and we all fall short. It is not easy for anyone do what is right. The weaknesses of some are more evident than that of others. There are suffering everywhere. No one In this live is immune to it. It is just part of life. The fact that you feel happy staying away from the Church does not confirm that this is the best path. Although you’ve suffered discrimination from some members and heard false statements like the ones you’ve mentioned, that does not reflect the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ. I know for a fact, by my own experience that when we follow the principles of the gospel we do have happiness. Again, that does not mean that we will never suffer. That we will never have obstacles. As the Book of Mormon says: “It is necessary that there is opposition in all things”. Without it there’s no growth. The best man ever lived suffered the most. With no guilt, He was rejected, He was betrayed by a friend, He was crucified. He paid for our sins and yet, even on the cross He Said: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they’re doing”.
"The leaders of the Church do not teach discrimination." This is either a deliberate misrepresentation on your part or ignorance. Russell M Nelson calls people who have left the church, "lazy learners". Look at the myriad of ad hominem attacks directed at people who dare question the veracity of the claims of mormonism like Jeremy Runnels or John Dahlin. Oaks straight up lies and gaslights about the treatment of homosexuals at BYU about the attempted conversion therapy treatments. He even refers to homosexuals as essentially tools of satan, "Opposition is part of the plan, and Satan’s (the Adversary’s) most strenuous opposition is directed at whatever is most important to God’s plan." This was said in reference to the opposition they face from their stances on homosexuality - which is straight up bigotry, taught from the pulpit. You're probably even ignorant to the bold hubris you exude in your message of "love" here. Mormonism is a cancer on society.
I'm an Australian ex Mormon who left the church ten years ago because I no longer subscribed to their beliefs. I joined the church as an adult because I was vulnerable and looking for answers to the meaning of life.
Did you have a testimony from the Holy Ghost? Or did you seek baptism without such assurance?

7th generation Mormon, now Ex mormon here. Emily, we love you! Welcome to the world
How sad
Welcome to a world where you sit around all day and bad mouth God's people all day trying to make yourself feel better. What a future. Take God away from.people and in a few years all you have left is a bunch of fornicaters and burned out drunks. I've seen it all my life.
@@cobracommander1700 It is actually incredible.Good for her and hopefully she can help others escape
Good for you Emily.
Yeah. It's cause they teach this: "I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”
It's really sad because they think everyone except mormons are following the devil, and that the preachers of other religions are most likely knowingly deceiving people and worshipping the devil.
I was 17 when i left the church. lived ups and downs.....been back at the church and I couldn't be happier! to each their own.
Amen brother Amen!!!
Jeremy Bowman Church can be much like drugs, it can help to alleviate anxiety and provide focus, but in the end it is an addiction. I have seen people really turn their lives around with the help of religion but they would surely have been better off if they had gone to counseling.
strato man my counselor is my gym! ;-) cheers*
Jeremy Bowman Yes, adequate exercise can be really great for all sorts of emotional issues. I basically cannot sleep at night unless I get some serious exercise during the day.
Weak
The Mormon church is not about being happy
But control
***** Yep, I see Lucy in the sky with diamonds too.
Jake Collings all religion is about submission if thats not control i dont know what is
Jake Collings When asked how he "controled 13 million "Mormons" Gordon B.
No religion can save us, only having a personal relationship with Jesus and having faith in Him can do that.
Pearson.

So the Mormon church doesn't teach that there's any thing wrong with being homosexual any more than there is anything wrong with being heterosexual?
The church does not condone homosexuality.
What Rachel said is what the church teaches.
Adam Johnson So there is something wrong with being homosexual?
so your church didn't contribute to Prop 8 with thinning $
God doesn't condone homosexuality. He loves all of us because we are his children, but he won't tolerate sin.
Mormons teach the heresy Adam was God in the flesh!
"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive." (1 Cor. 15:22)

False! Mormons teach Adam was a Prophet, but not a God, or not a God in the flesh.

I'm 15 and loving every minute of being an ex Mormon. Thanks for this video, Emily.
Good going Audrey!
Audrey Fields Congratulations on your freedom.
Peter Piper it is not freedom leaving the church, have you ever seen the people on the streets drunk and homeless? thats not what I call freedom
What does drunk and homeless have to do with not going to church?
They don't believe in hell and brimstone; rather, being apart from the Lord.
yes, narrow-mindedness. Quite patriarchal. Don't question anything.
So are you saying that you don't believe in modern-day revelation?
Davis Matthews Yes, and I don't believe in ancient-day revelation either.
Nathan Knighton Your religion was created by a con man. Either you have zero critical thinking skills or you refuse to use them.
Best decision of my life . To bad it took 25 years
Thank you for standing up for us!

Kindness can be used as a cover.

I've met happy more happy ex mormons than happy activists.
Robert Allison the rewards of error?check your stats lds members defy rationale in health, wealth & prosperity. Where are those rewards of error then.
Stephen Hess Where in the Bible does it say God will reward you with any sort of earthly blessings based on works or behavior??
Tolerance is the virtue of a people who stand for nothing.
There are MILLIONS of Christians OUTSIDE the Mormon Faith who hold to the bible and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Adam Johnson Fixed that for you: "you won't find lasting happiness outside of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is licensed exclusively to the Mormon Church™©® in perpetuity, amen and amen"
Zach Pearce Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile"

God loves you just as much as anyone else just like how if you do something wrong your earthly parents still love you but they wish you would choose the right
We were with God before we came to earth You cant make kids when with a man if u a man. Your kids in heaven need and want to come to earth
"Your kids in heaven need and want to come to earth." Didn't know that. Can you please elaborate on that?
Think for a moment of the mother of this woman.
5zazen I think believing in a higher power is more believable then believing in a human made church
I AM AN EX-MORMON TOO LEFT THE CHURCH IN THE MID 70'S GLAD I LEFT!
Thanks, Emily! This was really sweet & inspiring.
Ex-mormon here, too! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing.
God bless her for finding her happiness and freedom.
I cant delete this for some reason so I am here telling you I have no place to judge anyone.
Colossians 1:16, "For by him All things were Created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him."
So again mormon jesus is satans brother, Jesus Christ is the Creator of all things including satan.
two completely different Jesus'
And only One Jesus can save us, Only One.
Please understand if mormonism is right, well I still go to heaven!! WoooHooo!
But if I am right, mormons will hear Christ say this, "Away from me, I never knew you."
So I am not anti-mormon at all, I am anti-false christ false gospel.
Ok, so you have a vast misunderstanding of Mormon doctrine, that is clear. Let's try this, because I see where your misunderstanding is. Where did Satan come from?
Shawn Gordon Satan was a created cherub of God. your turn, Exodus 6:2-3
God loves everyone no matter who they love. We are all his children and we will all return to heaven no matter what mistakes we made in this life.
+Living For Christ has it occurred to you that your vision may be wrong. However, keep praying, don't give uo.
So happy for u . its prob not a coincidence that my 1st cousin married a man named mark pearson. This mans dad was named mardin peaeson. Lived in salt lake city. We were all Mormons then. My dear cousin

He was on his mission. The burning scar is still inside me.

I'm glad you got out of that false religious cult.
what it's up with all the Mormon haters its kinda hard to believe honestly
Personally I don't hate mormons, I hate Mormonism. I know many nice Mormons, but the religion is fucked up. All religions are
---Cole-
Why is it hard for you to believe all the "Mormon haters"??
Just look at your practice of polygamy. Where did Jesus EVER promote polygamy...Bible OR Book of Mormon?? LOOK at your doctrine that banned blacks from priesthood and temple participation!
Look at your official bigotry toward gays AND THEIR CHILDREN!!
LOOK at the LDS history of it's suppression of women!
You KNOW about all this...and *STILL YOU WONDER WHY* all the hatred toward Mormonism?? Really??
Ever read the Old Testament? I guess not huh?
disagreeing with something is not bigotry! i think many people need to look that word up! there is a big difference between believing something is wrong and completly condemning someone for it! that helps no one!
What are 1769 King James Version edition errors doing in the Book of Mormon? An
ancient text? Errors which are unique to the 1769 edition that Joseph Smith owned?
When King James translators were translating the KJV Bible between 1604 and 1611, they would occasionally put in their own words into the text to make the English more
readable. We know exactly what these words are because they're italicized in the KJV
Bible. What are these 17th century italicized words doing in the Book of Mormon? Word
for word? What does this say about the Book of Mormon being an ancient record?
I`m blissfully happy because I never bought into religious fears and blind faith.
Noevilea That's terrible advice!
I am a blissfully happy ex Mormon. right on girl
Moroni Baloney What do you mean when you say "truly happy."?
Smithpolly Basically, a fullness of happiness. I'm being figurative now and these are my own words to explain it now, but think about it like they say that inside the church you might reach happiness at level 10 but outside the church you'll only reach a 7 or 8.
Here is something from the actual church site:
www.lds.org/bc/content/shared/content/images/gospel-library/manual/12339/happiness-gague-line_1499023_prt.pdf
"Is there any chance of a man becoming happy without a knowledge of the gospel of Christ?
Love them...while stabbing them in the back??
Your LDS version of "love" is deeply flawed.
42apostate Love them ... while saying they are under the power of Satan.

Some people like being mormon..some don't.
At the end of the day, everyone should just mind their own fucking business.
Have your religion, just don't enforce it into legislation or other people's lives.
Wow, wonderful testimony !
Jesus loves you and you are and amazing person.
opps..an amazing person!!!
jesus loves her? stay sane Emily Pearson, stay away from all religions. they are poison..
I used to go to the Mormon church myself but now go to 7th Day Adventist church. My life is now a lot happier, too.
i am Mormon i am sorry for what you have gone through. We hope that you come back to church. i am a young woman and i am positive that if you come back things havechanged
Jay Best you pervert predator paster looking geek.
I hope that you can still find God in other ways even though you left the church because you don't necessarily need to go to church to have God. it is just the teaching and praising and fellowship there
Well done, Emily! I left the cult last year.
sounds like you are doing better than me and i'll never leave the church
Good on you Emily, for staying true to who you are!
Lets just pray gay away and turn it off like a light switch......
yes I was a Mormon because of my blinding love and faith in a gown up as a child.
Thank you Emily! I'm an ex Mormon and I'm gay and I appreciate what you've done here.
+Daily Buffet Mockery and inappropriate comments are of the devil. Grow up and wise up!
Emily, you are beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. And strong also. An excellent role model for women the world over.
Thank you for sharing this! A beautiful testimony!
You can see in her eyes that she has so much pain in her soul and is not really happy... I hope she can find happyness
Steven Turley
She never said it was doctrine.
Steven Turley
So why is it that people in her ward believed this and also in my ward? There's correlation here. It matters not, she spoke the truth in that people said Satan was gay.
Find out what mormons are really like. "Meet the Mormons" movie is on Netflix.
I am waiting for the sequel: "Now meet the real Mormons."
Andrew Steadman
You can do that right now, for free.
Just visit your local LDS chapel, attend the meetings and talk with the people there.
+cdowis Don't worry. I was born and raised in the that church and even went on a mission. I know the real Mormons and was once one. I now live amongst them. That is why I am waiting for the sequel that represents the average member such as how I once was.

"Meet the Scientologists" was very inspiring too....

Thank god I am a free thinker. lol
GTown Dave Amen! lol
GTown Dave
I don't believe there is such a thing as a free thinker, for we are all shaped by experience.
"I am who I am without apology"
I'm sure Ted Bundy said the same thing..............
Not sure about the gay thing but in this context thats great i'm happy for the gays in your life .. anything is better that a mormon !
+Jacqueline Alvarado This post was made three weeks ago. You might want to become familiar with new church policies.
Vegi Jen >>They sure do preach against homosexuality.

The church has made itself quite clear in its latest policy.
writerteacher1
Quite clear.
Americans LOVE the mysticism and comfy bedtime stories that assure them they will have an eternal food supply, a "peace" and whatever degenerate entertainment they prefer on a planet all their own after they mastered THIS one in perpetuity.
if you are a questioning mormon, all you have to do is take a step back and look at the church and realise how crazy it is.
and you're so damn cute.
Wow. Some one made a TH-cam channel just for videos of ex-Mormons. Wow.

FACT CHECK: Church Handbook gives policies and procedures for church leaders. These policies can be changed and modified according to changing conditions.. Recently this policy was clarified --
[quoted from the church statement] When a child living with such a same-gender couple has already been baptized and is actively participating in the Church, provisions of Section 16.13 do not require that his or her membership activities or priesthood privileges be curtailed or that further ordinances be withheld. [IOW it only affects minor children who are not members of the church] **Decisions about any future ordinances for such children should be made by local leaders with their prime consideration being the preparation and best interests of the child.** [local leaders are given flexibility based on the child's interests]
*All children are to be treated with utmost respect and love.
You got out alive .and not brainwashed. Best of Luck! Enjoy real life!
As Mormon now is, Ex-Mormon once was---As Ex-Mormon is now, Mormon may become....
Robert Allison As idiot is, idiot always was. As idiot now is, idiot will always be.
Robert Allison As Ex-Mormon now is, Outer Darkness they will go
Nephi Samuelson You mean that they'd go BACK to Mormonism ?!?
Robert Allison
No, just that they will go to Outer Darkness after this life whether they want to or not is not their decision.
Nephi Samuelson It's ALSO NOT *YOUR* DECISION!!Get over your narcissism!!
"The leaders of the Church do not teach discrimination."
This is either a deliberate misrepresentation on your part or ignorance.
What the Messiah ment with that line was that the Sanhedrin and the Romans were fulfilling Psalm 22 without even knowing it.
OMG!!! I Love you!!! You made me feel a part of something!!!!
I'm afraid I disagree with this video and with this channel😢
Emily, you are brilliant! Carry on!
I am an exMormon too. I hope you still love Jesus like I do. He is coming soon to claim those who have faith in Him and keep God's commandments.
Orthodox Christianity is the way
