    I was out on a very wet muddy green lane today on my baby GS. well out of my depth deep in the Hampshire countryside and to be fair probably being a bit of a plonker, dropped it once and got passed by about 20 huskies and KTms on an organised ride. Had a few comments like "you're brave!" Etc, but also had a few admiring, impressed glances. Not saying I'd do it again, but gotta admire the spirit of the bike and its ability to go where perhaps it shouldnt go in stock form. But survived and enjoyed a true adventure on a bike that was very plucky and easy to pick up. I'd never have gone down the same lane on my Africa Twin and I'd have probably not been able to pick it up when it went down, small is confidence inspiring and it allows you to take a few chances. That's what an adventure bike should do right? Cos now I'm lying in my bed with a smile on my face and a brilliant memory in my head!!

    Ran the local dealer demo for a few weeks and liked it so much I bought a new one two weeks ago. Your summary of your experiences is to me spot on! I have had many bikes over the years and for sure this has a fun factor and engaging riding experience many others do not. As always, in my opinion it's down to your personal expectations of what you are looking for from a bike. Comparisons with other bikes are only valid when you have actually ridden them and can then determine personally what works for you. Great video, look forward to hearing more in due course.

    I've come down from a Tiger to the 310. loving it! Making use of all my local green lanes in snowdonia and having some of the most enjoyable rides of my life. I've lifted the bars 25mm, engineguard/skid, lifted the rear break, bark busters and just changed the tyres for tkc80s. great review

    I recently bought one. I love it. Gets me around town. For me it’s more of a commuter bike. Definitely a head turner. And looks much bigger than it actually is. For the badge, the quality and price and fun factor you get a pretty good sweet deal

    Last week I got 40 Years edition and loving it. It is my 1st bike and trying to learn how to ride on it.

    Gone the smaller capacity route. Once you get the right mindset they're brilliant.

    This definitely has to be one of the best reviews I have seen.

    Love my baby GS. I've always ridden smaller single cylinder dual sport bikes sinve 1975 and always wanted a 300-400cc ADV bike and now we finally have a few. I ride back roads and dirt roads instead of highways so the G310GS is nearly ideal for me. I can carry 35 pounds in a waterproof roll top backpack strapped to the rear rack and pillion - camping equipment a generous tool roll, and hardly know it's back there. My only complaint is the 11 litre fuel tank. It should be twice that capacity.

    Very apt review. You mentioned everything exactly for what it was. Nice to see such honest reviews.

    I think it looks 👍 I have a new gsx s750 which is mega but this would be a perfect second bike, sometimes it’s just more fun with less cc. Scooters are the same way, ring the power out at ever stop light and you aren’t at risk of breaking risky speeds.

    Gone is the S1000R in is the G310GS (not saying I wont ever get a big bike, but you really have to ask yourself, Why!!!) I will invest in the bobbin axle thing, surprised that no threaded hole available, and no access the swinging arm centre either, would have liked hazard lights too, they are used such a lot in my location.

      This is exactly what I will be doing today. Worried about taking the plunge but also not in a rush to meet my maker so it's for the best for me.

    I'll never understand the "gotta have a big bike to tour or Adventure Riding" crowd. Makes NO SENSE unless you have a heavy passenger maybe?

    Very useful review, I'm definitely thinking of smaller capacity machines.
    How is the build quality?
    Did it feel underpowered?
    Thanks!

    Have you had any problems with it?
    Where you had to take to the dealership?
    I am considering to buy one, but have heard lots about BMWs bad reputation. This is made in India, so maybe its better😁

    Do you have any issues on yours with handle bar wobble at 50-60mph? I have seen some comments from those that do but not sure if this is a tyre issue?

      I own this same bike. I take my wife on it all the time. I'm 5'8" 175 lbs. My wife is 5'2" 110 lbs. Bike rides really nice with both of us on it. I was very pleasantly surprised.

    80/85mph cruise speed, with 90 flat out? That not its cruise speed, maybe 70/75mph.

  • @GeordiLaForgery

    It's a good bike but you can get a Honda CB500X which is superior in every way.
    Also that windscreen is a joke, typical bmw.

    • @chrisredfield3240
      @chrisredfield3240 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want more weight and small wheels it is the cb500x.. it is on 0% finance £5100 vs £5950. The honda is a much nicer better built bike but 161kg. Vs 196kg. It's what ever the buyer values most. I think the g310gs is not that well made for the money. Budget bike premium price (only the badge is what it has going for it)

    • @GeordiLaForgery
      @GeordiLaForgery 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's only 20kg more, for that you get a better 500cc engine, carries over 50% more fuel than this, and does better MPG(!). You get a decent windscreen as well.
      Neither bike has wheels for proper off road, need spoked wheels for that.

    • @chrisredfield3240
      @chrisredfield3240 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GeordiLaForgery i agree the cb500x is a very good bike. I think they should have been available off the floor with 19/17 wire wheels could have replaced the transalp

    • @GeordiLaForgery
      @GeordiLaForgery 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah agreed would be great if Honda gave the option, Rally Raid can do it but it's not cheap.

    • @chrisredfield3240
      @chrisredfield3240 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GeordiLaForgery bmw offer wire wheels as an option on the larger gs bikes and defiantly worth it unless you don't like cleaning spokes . It does add a big chunk of £££'s if you price in the rally raid wheels on the cb500

MORE SLOWLY, AND PROPERLY ENUNCIATE YOUR WORDS, (and avoid using "nobbly" slang!!!)SO THAT WE CAN UNDERSTAND YOU!!!..... THERE ARE MANY TIME WHEN IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE OUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING,..... kind of like listening to "the "chipmunks"!!!.....

      I have done it a couple times - but make sure you tighten the spring preload. I am 220lbs, my wife 140lbs (360lbs). With a max carry load of 175kg / 385lbs, that adjustment makes a huge difference. We have putzed around town for 15-30 min w/o issue, but I wouldn't go on a 60+ min ride with her. I have had it fully loaded for a four day trip (about 70lbs), and no issues. It just goes about 5mph slower on the highway at top speed.

      Steven Vanden Hoek thank you for your reply, I mainly ask this for the performance issue. I think I got the answer. Take care
