      @@TheJulieAndrewsArchive I am always endlessly impressed and grateful. However, if there is nothing to look forward to, then there is no point right? I know one day you and your team will find the old BBC recordings of her singing arias, and the President Johnson Gala medley and the making of the Sounds of Christmas. In fact, I had a contact who said he had a VHS of it...and then the trail went silent.

      But the making we have online already? The entire thing, but it’s in Austrian German and I haven’t been able to get around to actually translate it.
      Next Christmas, right?

      @@TheJulieAndrewsArchive The Hallmark CD, behind the scenes, similar what PBS did for her Rodgers Album. I saw some clips of it when you posted the press interviews for her Christmas album. It would be amazing to see julie work on music and behind the scenes footage of the recording session for the album.

    The acceptance speeches by JA and her fellow winners were fittingly dignified and BRIEF--a far cry from the Oscars of today!

    One of the really greatest stars of all time, the great, multi talented and forever beautiful Julie Andrews did deserve that Oscar. She should have won for The Sound of Music, Victor/Victoria and Duet for One. What a wonderfully accomplished performer. Bravo!

    Great video. I was thinking it must have felt weird for Julie to sit there all night and hear music from My Fair Lady played so many times as it won so many Oscars. And sitting there not knowing she was going to win. I don't think she expected to win.

    • @mgc1022
      @mgc1022 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      She definitely didn't- she actually expected Anne Bancroft to win. For the longest time she didn't show the Oscar off because she thought she somehow wasn't deserving of it, that maybe it was some consolation prize for Warner not casting her in My Fair Lady. Took her many years to realize she was absolutely worthy of the honor

    • @robvegaspoker
      @robvegaspoker ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mgc1022 Yeah. Some jerk reporter even asked if it was a consolation prize for missing out on MFL. It was actually one of the most deserving Oscar wins ever, she was absolutely sensational in Mary Poppins and helped Disney make enough money to build Disney World in FL! Amazing that Walt Disney, who was mostly dealing with animated characters recognized live acting talent more accurately than Jack Warner!

    I'm always wondering why there aren't people restoring this video like 1964's Oscar🤔?
    ……Still beautiful though😘.

    "Mary Poppins" should've won Best Picture in 1964. And instead of a "Mary Poppins" sequel in 2018, there should've been a "My Fair Lady" remake with Emily Blunt as Eliza Doolittle and have that win Best Picture and Best Actress for 2018.

    • @charityschiller4005

      No. Julie Andrews was the best Eliza Doolittle ever. No one could come close to her brilliant job on Broadway for My Fair Lady. Too bad she couldn't have done the movie.
