    It's so nice to see such pedigree married to such approachable, unpretentiousness. A yacht like this commands serious respect for her decades of service, yet she's up for charter and meant to be enjoyed, not just revered. A breath of fresh air.

      The cruel irony is that 10 millions is a huge amount of money, but so meaningless on the scale of global wealth.

    I was a deckhand on the Shenandoah back in 1982 when she was chartering for Baron Bich. Didn't last long, just a few days between Cannes and the Îles d'Hyères, as I argued with an officer about something. I was only 18 at the time and it was my first time at sea.

      What gets me is she has 118 years of salt water sailing under her - with a steel hull. I'm rethinking my choices.
      Edit: Ah, no. I just found out from wiki: In 1986 she was sold to Swiss businessman Phillip Bommer, who performed a complete restoration at the McMullen & Wing shipyard in Auckland. Most of the original riveted hull was replaced. Maybe I wont be going with steel after all.

    • @Skyking67832
      @Skyking67832 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As in kick the bucket. Or things to do before you die. It comes from old English and refers to the wooden frame from which animals were hung by their back legs before being slaughtered. Naturally, in their death throws they would often "Kick the bucket."

    • @realcomments

      @@MrTrapper28 Of course someone who can buy a boat can buy a few pianos too!! But such a heavy piece on a boat deck isn't a good idea in rough seas... unless of course the owner is a harbour explorer.

    • @MrTrapper28
      @MrTrapper28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Three possibilities: 1) The owner was keyed up. 2) He wanted at least one crew member who was working for scale. Or 3) He was just looking for treble.
