Awesome Memorial Day Railfanning in SW Virginia, Day 3 - NS Christiansburg District (5/27/2018)

Day three was another beautiful day on the NS Christiansburg District. The morning started out foggy but turned sunny as the day went on. In Shawsville, I got to meet a couple of local railfans who showed me a field shot in Wabun, VA, which I really liked. There was quite a bit of foreign power through the day including UP and a CBFX SD60M. A few NS relic locomotives came through as well, including ex-Conrail D8W. I ended the day a bit earlier after train NS 789 (there was no other trains leaving Roanoke for a long time afterwards) due to a storm coming around in the evening.
Train action continues on Day 4 as well as during my journey back to Charlotte!

I think that used to be an old coaling tower during the steam locomotive days (it's not used with diesel locomotives now).
