I swear by Hooked on Phonics. My now 7 year old who has ADHD was reading chapter books by the time she finished it. It was fun, open and go, the lessons were short, and it was effective.
This is very helpful Info. Our 7 year old is highly ADHD and struggles getting through regular reading activities. This is helpful in making the decision to purchase and download. Thank you for your feedback
I signed up this app last friday (8/23/24) for my 8 yo son. He is in 3rd grade but he falls behind on reading and spelling, his level is still in grade 2. After watching your vdo, i decide to try Hooked on Phonics. My son loves the app and so far spent nearly a near for three days. I want to thank you and hope this app will help him catching up.
Talk about Synchronicities!!! I just had Hooked on Phonics come across my mind yesterday because I randomly remembered that I had used Them to learn to read as a preschool age kid back in the early 90's. So...I looked them up yesterday and was excited/surprised to see they were still around. I'm currently homeschooling my 7th grader (which originally brought me to your channel)...but I've been thinking about starting my 3 year old on learning to read...thus why I was thinking about myself at that age...and thus what led me to rediscover H.O.P...and now...just 1 day later...You have put out a video about H.O.P. 😊
That's wild! Well I hope you find it helpful! Most interesting to me is that they still have the learn to read program, which isn't the same as the new app.
My son has dyslexia and we tried this for a solid year, and while there was a slight improvement, after a while he got stuck and it was more frustrating for him than helpful.
Could you PLEASE covet the IXL program? I am looking in to it for my kids for next year. We are looking at doing a combo unschool/homeschool so we can follow travel plans
I actually do have a couple of videos on IXL on my channel! One is an overview of the program and one is specifically just the math program. I have been planning to do an update for 2024 though!
The kids progress through the levels, so there are 12 steps to the pre-reader level, and 30 steps to the learn to read level. It should take some time to go through the whole program as it is designed for kids from 3 to 8.
So is it that the more correct answers you get , it unlocks the games? All the games are locked on mine and my son keeps trying to jump up the games lol It’s great if that’s the case
In the parent settings you can make the game room hidden or visible, and unlock all activities. I'm not sure if they unlock on their own after a certain number of lessons, but I'd love to find out!
I have the old hooked on phonics program that show the mom and her daughter. Is there any way to get the missing parts, alsom is there a way to ge the current hoked on phonics besides the monthly payment.
If you go their website and scroll all the way down to "free learning materials" at the bottom, I believe these are all the old.videos for the original program. You can also purchase that version of the program in the "shop all products" section of their website. Hope this helps!
Did you sign up on their website or just by downloading the app? If you used the website, you can make changes to your account through the website and not the app.
Your video actually made my decision of not using Hooked on Phonics because the first word is mutt. Not a very positive word, or necessary for a child to know. My child would say dog. They wouldnt even know what the word mutt means. They would come and ask me what the computer is saying, why are they calling that dog something else.

That's awesome! Did you do this new app/practice pack or the learn to read program?
I used the practice packs and app. @@AmandaMelrose

@@AmandaMelrose Very Helpful...😊 And yes, I agree...and I'm actually leaning more towards the Learn to Read Program part of it 💛
My 4 and a half year old was reading in 7 days.
Wow that's great!

Have you tried Nessy Reading and Spelling? I've heard that's great for dyslexia.
Thank you for this comment. I might need to check into this, thanks again for sharing.@AmandaMelrose
Can you cover Highlights?
Do they have an online program or do you just mean the magazine subscription?

@AmandaMelrose awesome! I JUST found your channel. Thank you so much ❤️
Better than readability?
So, you get new stuff every month, does the app have new activities and levels every month as well?

Wish it wasn't an app though.
I agree, but they do still have the "learn to read" program on their website. It's different than this app. I mentioned it somewhere in the video.
On their website it says you can do it the old school way and order paper copies
Same! My 6yr old is on a electronics break but I have to give him the iPad to read the app 🥹

They have a yearly subscription but it's hard to find. Email them.
Gave a horribly long pass word and was unable to change it for my grandson. Wss highly questioning if it was fauldulant.

have you done a review on ELLO?
No i haven't, I've been seeing it though. I probably should test it out!
Thank you!!!!
You're welcome!
Also, it gives a phone number but is not hooked up????? WTF
That's strange. Did you try chatting with them online or contacting them through their online form?
How can i get this app in kuwait.
I honestly don't know the answer to that!
How long is this promotion? Do you by chance know
The first month for $1? It's been there for awhile and I don't think there's any expiration date at this time.
Hooked on phonics
Yes.

Ha ha I didn't even notice that!
I was completely thrown off when he said mutt 🤦🏽♀️ D is dog , that’s the way it’s always been.
