For me no one surpasses Ewan McGregor but James Arnold Taylor is a worthy successor.
James Arnold Taylor was doing an imitation of Ewan so... basically they're the same person for voice
Bartholomew Thundercat III what about Alec Guinness he was the original one from episode 4
Divide All of the young ones were.
CJ Morton Alex Guinness wasn't a fan of starwars and asked for his character to be killed off because he thought the film would flop
Thomas Chambers I know that and I know that Obi Wan was supposed to survive but yeah like you said Alec Guinness told George Lucas to kill off the character.
It’s weird to think James Arnold Taylor has done the most as obi wan
It’s because he was in nearly every episode of Star Wars the clone wars and in rebels and in battlefront 2. So you have heard him more than Ewan like for example me I forgot how Ewan sounded cuz I was binging the clone wars
Because of the clone wars
,
still great tho!
And now a bit in Jedi Fallen Order.
They did this because he sounds hottttt
Very kind comments here, thanks to everyone that has enjoyed my work as the Jedi Master all these years, May the Force be with you all! JAT
Master Obi wan? where is my Master?
Thanks for all the amazing work you did yo did an amazing voice of Obi Wan
Hello There
It's the man himself! How you doing?
Posted 2 years ago but he just only gets responses .......ironic
Confirmed: James Arnold Taylor is secretly Ewan Mcregor
What about the Great Alec Guinness?
Mike Or Alec Guinness is definitely the best Ben Kenobi, but James Arnold Taylor and Ewan Mcgregor are iconic for young Obi-Wan.
@@pscasual4348 I don't know about you, but I like McGregor better as the young Obi-Wan.

@@mikeor- same
1.) Ewan McGreggor
2.) Alec Guinness
3.) James Arnold Taylor
They are my top 3.
For me, Alec and Ewan switch places. Other than that, I have the same list.
They should share the 1. Ewan for young obi, Alec for old
TheHero136 same
100% agree with this list.
TheHero136 I agree 100%
James Arnold Taylor had me believing he was speaking as Ewan.
Same here. In fact, when I first heard him in the Clone Wars TV Shows and movie, I assumed they managed to get him. Especially for the movie. James Arnold Taylor is a brilliant voice actor and a brilliant voice double.
Kurosaki Ichigo yeah, same here
Jamie Williamson and he does a pretty good Alec Guinness voice as well
Deepfriedpillows Stephen Stanton is better as Old Ben/Alec Guinness
You guys must all be yanks because the way he talks is not how Guinness speaks (Received Pronunciation aka the queens English aka British English aka standard English).
I think everyone can agree that Ewan McGregor, Alex Guinness, and James Arnold Taylor are the best.

James Arnold Taylor sounds almost like Ewan McGregor when he voiced Obi-Wan Kenobi.

3. Alec Guinness

3. Seth Green
DeadlyCatfish Correction 3. Alec Guinness, the original he was obi wan while everyone else were kids
Ewan is 1 and 3. He’s too powerful
Alec trumps all of them.
Aside from the obvious two, Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor, I think that James Arnold Taylor is a fantastic Obi-Wan
Colin Keiser James and Ewan sound extremely similar
Colin Keiser he even can play both young and old
Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan is a hidden gem within the prequels. However James Arnold Taylor definitely gets a honorary mention because he's SO GOOD at the voice. Cadence, mannerisms, the actual voice being nearly identical to the movie version. Props to both guys.
Faintest Of Breath basic pronunciation? Alec Guinness speaks the queens English as does Mcgregor. James Taylor Arnold? Can’t do it.
I agree. James Arnold Taylor truly manages to capture the essence of Obi-Wan. He may bot sound completely identical to McGregor all the time, but he always sounds like the character.
@@ethanfrederiksen4327 No way. Ewan McGregor is the best. Besides, Taylor only voiced the character as he was in Episode II and III. Ewan McGregor tackled his whole character arc in the prequels and really carried the role with a passion that charmed the audience. McGregor was born for the role.
Hidden gem ? I'd say he was a rather obvious one.
All of these people are obi wan,

Because obi wan replaced most of the holocrons with that message
Yeah
Actually that was a reference to the first time we heard the message in Rebels.
It's also the same message he recorded in REVENGE OF THE SITH

Hello there!
Its crazy how much JAT and ewan mcgregor sound alike
Johnny Stevens to the point that Taylor was recorded for the force awakens in a vocal capacity, until someone realised that it made more sense to use Ewan McGregor.
Johnny Stevens thx
They could probably dub Ewan McGreggor in all three prequels as James Arnold Taylor and I bet nobody would notice.
@@androzani84productions85
Vocal capacity huh? What does that mean and where is his Ewan in Awakens?
Massa the part where Rey holds Luke’s lightsaber in Maz’s castle
Lewis MacLeod sounds like someone pretending to be a Scottish man with nasal congestion
Sounded horrible as obi wan
@@albinoraichu328 yup
He's Scottish, though
My guess is that they thought Ewan McGregor was a Scottish bloke doing an English accent, so the best way to recreate that magic was to get another Scottish fella in. Doesn't work though.
The best voices simply put:
Cinema: Ewan McGregor/Alec Guiness
Animation/Games: James Arnold Taylor
Sir Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor go hand in hand. James Arnold Taylor has made Obi-Wan so much more. If only they'd make a new Obi-Wan movie.

I am very excited to see Ewan and Hayden return in the Obi Wan series!

I love that James Arnold Taylor voiced Obi-Wan in both the 2003 and 2008 Clone Wars series.
+LordVader1094 His voice is almost the same as Ewan too
+Faraghorn Actually, I think he just has a very versatile voice. He also voices the clones in the newer Clone Wars, I think, and maybe even the battle droids.
+Percy Jackson Son of Neptune No, that's Dee Bradley Baker who voices the Clones.
The Batman Of Neo-Gotham Ah, my bad, the triple name must've confused me. But he does voice Plo Koon, and some other voices on that show.
+Faraghorn But the pronounciations were wrong
Idk I love Ewan but for some reason like James Arnold Taylor’s voice a little more. He’s got the charm of Ewan and the wiseness of Alec Guinness. Ewan and JAT are still the two best easily for their respective roles tho.

I know, so do I.
Nicklas Stæhr same that scene is devastating. Ewan said those lines perfectly as he did most of his lines. His performance as Obi-Wan was one of the best things to come from the prequels. Hope they bring him back for a spin off movie. He wants to do it & is now nearing the perfect age for the time gap between episodes 3 & 4. James Arnold Taylor is so good when i first started clone wars I thought Ewan Mcgregor voiced obi wan in the show
I get chills every time I hear Guinness talk. The way he describes the force with such conviction and detail is what cemented my love for Star Wars.
I love Obi-Wan's speech in Rebels. It really kicks off the show with a strong start
It looks nothing like him though(clone wars wise)
+Brendan Yim It's a different style of animation, though I prefer the Clone Wars style better
Agreed but as it's the same universe and the hologram seems only a few years after order 66, they should've atleast tried to make obi wan look like him in the clone wars rather than a 6 year old wearing a fake beard

James, Ewan and Alec. The trio I grew up with. Amazing voices for a wise and strong character.
In different ways I feel the same amount of Obi Wan in both Ewan McGregor James Arnold Taylor. Ben in Guiness, no doubts there!

1. Alec Guiness, Ewan McGregor
2. James Arnold Taylor.
Most of them good. You can't beat the genuine Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor original especially Alec's voice.
It's crazy how fast the atmosphere changed when Ser Alec Guinness' voice lines were played, the feeling tbat emanates from the original trilogy is simply impeccable, we won't be getting that from Star Wars now, not anymore...
1) Ewan McGreggor's performance showed the transition from the young apprentice to the Jedi master, almost morphing into Alec Guiness' Obi-Wan at the very end of ep III, both visually and psychologically.
2) Every portrail of the young Obi-Wan since the prequels has been based on McGreggor's performance.
3) Need I say more?

James Arnold Taylor did an excellent job imitating Ewan McGregor, which was obviously his point of reference. The two can't really be compared with Alec Guinness, because they were portraying different times in Obi-Wan's life. For me, those three were the best Obi-Wan's.
ewans performance after he fought anakin was brutally emotional
lego star wars TCS obi wan: "Hm."
Ewan is my favorite obi wan. But to be fair I grew up with the prequels. But I can't explain how happy i am that Ewan is doing the new obi wan series. It's going to be fantastic 😁
You're right!
The difference between Alec Guiness and Ewan McGregor is that Guiness loathed Kenobi, while Ewan has said many times he adores him and it is one of his favorite roles.
Ewan truly portrays Obi Wan the way he should have been. He was one of the bright spots of the prequels.
@@divanshukumarmahajan4803 exactly it doesn't matter what his personal feelings were he was absolutely perfect, I still remember that scene where he talks about Vader's betrayal and fighting in the Clone Wars, I mean that is something even George Lucas hadn't fleshed it out properly in his mind yet, but the emotions with which he did it, not knowing the backstory of it ..... it's incredible. Ewan McGregor worked so well because he put a lot of thought into what a young Alec Guinness would be like

Love how James mixes Ewan + Alec
It's interesting to see how much Ewan McGreggor deepened his voice throughout the prequels to show Obi Wan's voice get closer and closer to that of Alec Guinness. He really did a fantastic job in the role. James Arnold Taylor obviously did a fantastic job of replicating Ewan's Obi Wan as well.
My favourite Obi Wan voices, in order, are Ewan, Alec and James. It seems that the only thing that changes about this list from person to person is the order, which just goes to show you how good these 3 were.
Ewan McGregor has the most defined and recognizable voice. Almost everyone will think of the Obi Wan from Episode 3 when asked about Obi Wan.

In my opinion, the Anakin vs Obi Wan was one of the best scenes in Star Wars. It was truly heartbreaking and that's what made it so amazing. The 2 actors did a great job.
James Arnold Taylor was the first I heard, so he will always be my Obi-Wan :)
From a critical perspective Taylor’s voice is most equivalent to McGregor projecting/raising his voice (a heightened version).
Everyone is talking about the impressive work that James Arnold Taylor did, and it is. But why does no one acknowledge the superb impression of Alec Guinness that Stephen Stanton did? As someone who has played EaW for years, I always assumed every line was just taken from Alec Guinness's original lines. I could hardly even tell the difference after I knew.
Alec Guinness is probably one of the greatest actors ever. I'm not just saying that because he was Obi Wan. During the production of the first Star Wars movie while people were losing faith in the project, Lucas was going over budget, certain special effects weren't working, equipment wasn't working, the overwhelming amount of stress, arguing, and just general lack of professionalism from the members of the cast. and crew, and the looming threat of having the entire project cancelled, Alec Guinness was said to have maintained constant professionalism, never complained, and never lost his cool. He was the only one who actually took the job seriously. It's ironic considering he said he hated Star Wars and that it was a terrible experience. It was supposedly his idea to kill off Obi Wan in IV because he couldn't stand it anymore, and that even years later he would be very hostile and lash out at fans when they would ask him about Star Wars.
Alec Guinness, James Arnold Taylor, and Ewan McGreggor will always be the greats. And obviously Seth Green deserves a spot for his outstanding performance filled with many lulz.
Taking McGregor and Guinness out of it, James Arnold Taylor is the man. I had no idea that he did the original Clone Wars cartoon (2002) and Star Wars: Rebels, among other things.
Thanks for making this video.
