      I specifically upgraded to a Denon X6700H so I could do 7.1.6 Atmos and DTS:X-Pro and so I could do Auro3D.
      People who want Auro3D, generally want it for the upmixer.

      Hi Joe, i did also watch your opinion and i do agree. In my other room i still have it on original Atmos layout and i can hear a difference going from one room to the next.

    So, I'm using 6 height channels. Front heights at 30°. Rear Heights at 150° and Top-Middles at 100° (between my front row and back row). Its pretty much perfect for all three formats.
    Atmos works perfectly fine with heights at 30/150. Its just better if you are able to mount a Top-Middle between them. Auro3D can use those Top-Middle speakers as the voice of god

    I agree with you 100%. I have the same set up like you and my findings are similar. Also, the AURO 3D is lossless, so it sounds way better.

    Both formats have their pros and cons depending on your expectations, content format (music, film, ..), and mainly the listening space and - position.
    I prefer the AURO setup! I have experienced a few official showcases from both, and immersively speaking it does the job better overall, subjectively.
    Less (not to say the minimum needed amount of) speakers, stereo field intact in any direction, fewer phasing issues. Topped off with a VOG and a bottom...
    What else could we wish for?
    More content ;) Support and inform your local dealers, artists, and content creators.

    Would have been nicer to hold the camera and show us the speaker locations. Interesting to join the ic speakers, I’m wondering how it works as a VOG, but your experience shared here is strong.

    Hello Sir. I really enjoy your channel. I am from the UK and about 6 months ago I upgraded my surround sound system from a 5.1.2 Denon x2400 setup to a 7.2.4 Denon x3700. Does sound better but not as good as I was hoping. Definitely agree with you regarding dolby atmos movies height effects not being that good. So I upmix everything to Dts Neural X, but I now wish I had bought the Denon x4700 for the Auro 3d instead!!

      @homecinemaking397  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for the kind words. And yes that step up to 4700 would have made the world of difference. Maybe add a power amp to the fronts and them you can run 11ch and add more high speakers. Just my 2c

      I'm using the Marantz sr7300, the first generation Marantz including auro3d as a standard. For amplification I use 5x 2channel and 1x 3 channel from Naim. I have 4 klipsch in ceiling Atmos speakers but set them up as auro so they will be used to upmix streaming content to auro3d and play Atmos as Atmos.

      Hi again. Thanks for your response. I did infact add a 3 channel Power amp, the Emotiva A3, which definitely improved the overall sound, especially when listening to stereo music and I also added a second SVS PB1000 subwoofer! Much fuller bass now than b4!!😀👍

      @JonMoralesLA ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be mentioned that Auro needs 4 height speakers. There’s also a specific Auro 3D layout that should be followed. Just using your Atmos top speakers for Auro is going to give you a poor result. The good thing is, Atmos sounds fine in Auro 3D speaker layout.

    The inventor of Auror3d, Wilfried Van Balen, explains it really well in his 2 in-depth interviews with Daily Hifi channel. Wilfried is an accomplished classical musician having done hundreds of concerts and he is a sound engineer. He explains to truly imitate sounds we need to have 2 reflection based height layers. First height layers at 30 degrees from MLP with speakers directed 2 feet above MLP. He explains that Dolby Atmos being an object based system where sound is not reflected but directed at MLP as per Atmos requirements and also because Atmos uses only one height layer, that height layer is optimal for Atmos content at a steeper angle usually landing on ceiling. He said that even having a row of microphones recording the sound and a row of speakers directing that sound is not as realistic sounding as a reflection based system because the real world our side facing ear position mostly picks up reflected sounds not directed sounds.

    I wish movie producers would put more care in the audiotracks, especially those of physical media. That is the only reason I'm still buying physical media, with a good home theater setup there is a world of difference between compressed streaming media and uncompressed media. btw. thanks for your content, thank to your discription of the SVS pv16 Ultra experience I also bough one. I received it yesterday, and I must say I'm not disappointed ;-)

    My set up is A Denon 4400, Auro was included and because my room is small 13x11 my overheads works for Atmos and Auro.

    • @JonMoralesLA
      @JonMoralesLA ปีที่แล้ว

      No! If your using your top speakers for Atmos and just switching on Auro 3D your missing out. Try the Auro 3D speaker layout…it makes a big difference for Auro and your Atmos will still sound great in Auro configuration.

    I was hyped for Auro 3D. I finally pulled the plug and spent $200 to upgrade my Denon X6200W to Auro. Well, It ain't all of that. Auromatic is adding much of the bed layer sound to the height channels. Switching back and forth between DSU, DTS: Neural X, and Auro. The DTS upmixer for movies is preferred. It sounds more natural when placing effect into the height channels.
    I should have just kept my $200. It was not money well spent.

      Interesting experience most say Auro3D upmixing is best. Clearly YMV

    • @JonMoralesLA
      @JonMoralesLA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m curious…were you using a proper Auro 3D speaker configuration with heights directly above the ear level speaker at about 30 degrees?
      Or did you just buy the upgrade and test it out on your Dolby Atmos top speaker setup?
      It makes a huge difference in proper speaker setup for Auro. Height speakers for Auro should not be closer to MLP than the matching ear level speaker below it.

    If you live in an apartment below another tenant, and they walk overhead of you from left to right do you mean to say you can't hear That? Bullshit, auro is lying. if money is the sole reason dolby won the format war than what about DTS? They were king before atmos.
    The reason auro lost was lack of options

    • @joentell
      @joentell 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I don't think they said you can't hear it, but your resolution up high isn't as good past a certain angle above your head. In your example, sounds coming from directly overhead also reflect off of side walls which help us determine where they are on a horizontal plane where our ability to discern spatial cues is best. This also happens in a good audio mix regardless of the format where the sound from height speakers is combined with sounds from ear-level speakers. The argument from Auro is just that 30° up is the optimal location where you can perceive height, while still having horizontal positioning awareness. Above that angle, it is less effective to have speakers there rather than at 30°. Auro replaces that with a single center height for that reason...there's not a lot of resolution up there.

      I’m still using Auro today in a brand new 3800h that came out after your comment and after bankruptcy. They were purchased by another company and not dead at all. An upmixer never dies in the hardware it’s in as it isn’t relying on anything else to work. You don’t need native Auro 3D content to Upmix. It’s all about the Auromatic upmixer which is alive and well in many receivers and still shipping today in many receivers.

      ..ya other wise why should they offer Auro 3d in avr like Marantz Cinema 50, 40, they not stupid, automatic upmixed content from Atmos to auro 3d should make big diference..Sonys 360 Spatial sound mapping trying do the same thing, but for me, avr with Auro 3d should still offer better sound experience, but have to check !!!
