The whole situation around Disco Elysium is just.. sad. I hope all the people who worked on the original find a way to work together again and create spiritual successor.
It’s a 2 hour long investigation but I can’t recommend People Make Games detailed video on DE enough.
Did Ilmar along with the shareholder use his bullying to potentially steal the company? Sure. But good lord, Lead writer Robert Kurvitz is perhaps one of the worst ego filled sociopaths I’ve ever seen. My heart goes out to the devs who struggled under him.
It’s unfortunate but I highly doubt they’d be willing to work together.
Funny that 3 million copies isnt enough money for these people. Alot of the biggest games in the 90s never sold anywhere near that and they made a shitload of profit

A quick note on the Starfield paid mods, there’s a ship module mod that’s already been downloaded 17K times, it costs $10, so they have already made $170,000 off whales buying dog shit

Literal dog shit, those people don’t deserve their money. They’re actually ruining the game for everyone.
The fact that this directly supports modders makes it much more easy to stomach. Id prefer to just donate to them directly, but whatever.
Second, bethesda is kinda screwed being a single player only developer hence why fallout 76 had to exist. Having even a barely successful live service makes the devs millions each year. Its basically impossible to stay profitable off only single player games with a 7 year release schedule.
Why release a DLC for $40 when you can take all those missions and sell them individually to idiots for $10 a piece. Honestly you would be crazy not to do that.
Until the point the backlash gets too big your company folds. Though that hasn't happened yet.
I wanted to get crusader kings 3 add-ons but even with the steam sale like half off it was still well over a hundred dollars. Fuck that. So I just play the base game on gamepass, paradox didnt get a dime from me directly.
@@johnv6806 plenty of idiots defended starfield and its outdated game design like constant loading times and bland gameplay, they will defend the practice to the death and call anyone sonyponies for disagreeing with them.
$40 is already too much for the little amount usually given. The standard should be $20. An the problem with DLC is that it's supposed to be new content made AFTER the fact to reward fans and customers for supporting the game. Most "DLC" these days has already been made months before launch and are held to be sold for more scratch.

I'd like to warn y'all that most of the Starfield’s Creation Club mods like cheats, weapons & houses will disable your achievements! The only CC mods that are marked as "achievement-friendly" are from Bethesda themselves…
Because "Creations" are mods. They're not making the distinction between them any more.
My dude they always have lmao. There's always been a warning at the very start that if you start with mods downloaded it disables achievements in BIG BOLD LETTERS LMFAO.
The whole Steam lawsuit seems less like "this is an issue because they are doing something bad" and more like "look at all the money they ate making, we should get a cut of it".

Thought Joe would rage over the Starfield paid mission. Didn't happen. 😢
The thing that always brings down the lawsuits against Steam is that there isn't anything in their contract that says you can't sell the game to other game providers. If there WAS another online game provider that had the reach of Steam... then you would simply have to offer your game on that platform for the same price.. or pull your game from Steam.
It's not very difficult to describe to a jury why that is... and the biggest issue for the plaintiff is that it's not difficult for the jury to understand it. And that last bit is usually the hurdle.
Valve does not have a price parity clause for general sales. They only enforce price parity for Steam Keys.
When will these people actually understand this. There's a reason Valve hasn't been successfully sued yet...
Can you guys please put the number of the video in the title. 1/2 and 2/2. For some reason the algorithm always shows me 2/2 first.

Because the only source turned out to be a random social media account and the studio itself didn't actually confirm the story in any way.
Releasing a sequel exclusive the the Epic store to a game that was on Steam is just silly.

The Steam lawsuit is 100% BS. It's predicated on a claim that is factually incorrect. Steam does NOT force publishers to give Steam the best price. That only applied to Steam keys. If you want to sell EGS keys for half of the Steam price, that's perfectly fine. The other claim is that Steam's 30% cut means gamers are overpaying for goods, as they claim the publishers pass the costs down to the consumer. That's also BS. When EA or Ubisoft took their games off Steam. Did those games suddenly drop from $60 to $42? No. Did they at least drop to $50? No. All they did was pocket that 30%. The consumers are NOT overpaying on games due to Steam's 30% cut. They pay the same no matter who takes the 30% cut.
Remember when you paid a price and got a full game, pepperidge farms remembers
Nope I don't remember 😂
@@Eros160 twas a magical time, a person could pay one price and get a full game that would have tons of unlockables and hidden features that you just play the game to unlock, things that one just pays separately for today,

Cyberpunk 2077 DLC set on the moon would have been awesome!! 🤩
Hope CDPR still do that as a DLC, given the recent success! - or include it in a sequel game
20:18 Disco Elysium was a masterpiece, honestly the only way they could've topped it was by expanding the lore of the world, and ironically that's exactly where the creative decisions differed in the sequel hence the exit of many creative minds behind Disco Elysium, and then there was internal disputes about the IP... It really is sad that ZA/UM ended up suffering the very thing they preached about in their masterpiece.
As far as Starfield goes I am gonna wait. Gonna wait a few years for the complete edition to be made and get it cheap.
Disco Elysium is such a hidden gem, one of the best games of the last decade. The fan base will stand behind these devs until death. If they ever do another game under different name, fans will welcome them with open arms. You should definitely play it someday :)
I see no reason why Valve is at fault here. "Steam Edition" doesn't need to be a premium price.

Disco Elysium is more than a video game. It's an incredible experience, but a shame we wont be able to explore more of that world. It's one of those games that everyone should play once in their lifetime.
Well, actually... the Starfield paid mission does include a new weapon and stuff. That's what you pay for, really. The mission is just a way to deliver the content.

Oh man, they added more stat buffs in Star Fail. No need to make any upgrade look different, that costs too much money now, even after we did it in Fallout 4
Hey btw you can play star citizen for 45$ and unlock every ship for in game currency.
Valve is also being sued in Poland, which is substantial enough because it's inside the EU.
Shadow of the Erdtree is looking massive enough to give a full review. It's reportedly longer than most of the base games released this year.
The Star Citizen problem wasn't technically cheats, but exploits of a known bug. Even when it's CIG's fault not to patch it before Invictus week (which let you rent BIG ASS cargo ships for free btw), it's also abusive people's fault that the servers got overloaded with their ships out of the hangars to sell the cargo again. That also created excesive cuantities of RMC (the best legally profitable item) which created a problem for the people who like the Salvage gameplay (as RMC is the money maker there, and there were no demand).
So yes, the exploit was there for everyone to know, but the fact that you abuse of it makes you guilty and deserving of the Ban.
Very well said.
Yeah, just exploits.. i hope i still have my ships 🙄
People shit too much on this game, this guys never even played it. I heard that the big micro transactions doesnt even matter, because you can buy all ships in game some time later , for not even too much grind. They seem to just milk some rich dudes to finance the game, like PoE .... dont see the problem here
@@liquiddude9855 yes, You can buy almost all the ships that are currently in LIVE servers with Game currency. You just need to Buy the starter package that includes access to the Game and one ship.

I can't wait to hear the opinion about nintendo games from a person who did not touched his Switch for two years now!
The joke with Star Citizen: They let it continue for weeks over weeks where servers basically constantly crashed every few hours - To only now intervene when almost everyone and their grand-ma was exploiting heavily. To only have 600 bans? Feels like that must have been more like 6k.
CDPR has 2 studios now. 1 in Warsaw, they work on the Witcher 4. and a new one in Boston, they'll work on CP77-2
No they already announced that they will not be talking about a new console.
I have a really good link to a TH-cam video of 10 hours of paint drying if you’d like to prepare for the Nintendo direct.
0:30 Love you guys
I've always found it funny when people argue against spending money on Star Citizen as "buying pixels" hilarious, espeically when in the same breath they mention buying an entertainment center instead. What does an entertainment center do? Allow you to...*checks notes* watch moving pixels and hear rhythmic sounds. We live in the digital age. Most of our entertainment is nothing but 1's and 0's in a file. Your streaming music, your downloaded book, your video games, and your movies. They're all just data. Heck, even your bank account is just data.
No one remembers this but the very first year Horse Armor DLC was out they DOUBLED the price on April Fools Day. ‼️🚨
What determines a monopoly? I don't think Steam is a monopoly, from a user point of view. Competitors have sub par platforms and and are less consumer friendly than Steam.
I choose Steam, as well as many others, because they have earned my trust more than other game selling platforms. But developers aren't required to sell their games on Steam, and consumers can buy games on another platform if the devs offer it elsewhere. The majority of people (consumers) like Steam as their primary source of game purchasing.
If steam is a monopoly then amazon is a monopoly. Alternative services are available but they hold the majority market share.
@@Matt.Hurley There's a difference between being a monopoly (which Steam aren't; the only games that are _exclusive_ to Steam are Valve's own games) and being the best service. Steam are simply better than all of the competitors.
They also aren't trying to buy out devs with "exclusives" like Epic, especially in a scummy way like they did with games like Metro Exodus, _snatching_ exclusivity days before it was due to be released on Steam and forcing anyone that hadn't pre-ordered it to wait a full year for a proper Steam release.
A monopoly denotes a near total market share, of which steam would have about 75% -80% of PC game sales, which is the definition of a monopoly. The lawsuit isn't really about them being a monopoly, it's more so that not allowing people to price their products differently on other platforms is an anti competitive practice.
@@SekiberiusWelkesh It's not like that. They can sell the game by themselves anywhere they want, but it's the Steam key that can't be sold cheaper than on Steam. Of course, websites like Green Man Gaming offer their own discounts, so we can find it cheaper on their website, but those developers want all the advantages that Valve offers while selling Steam keys at a lower price than Steam does.
Steam is a monopoly but I'm less interested in suing them and more interested in the the state breaking it apart.
The Division 2 seasonal characters COULD be fun but it should absolutely not be mandatory to experience seasonal content.
Indeed
if it's an egs exclusive I'll buy it on steam when it's on SALE you can forget me paying full price for an old game
Despite its rough start, Lords of the Fallen 2023 is in my opinion one of the best soulslike that isn't Fromsoft (alongside Lies of P). I hope that the next installment will have a cleaner launch and better enemy variety.
How about that hot story SBI tried to export Black Myth Wukong devs to the tune of $7m and this failed horribly for SBI and their partners, the media.

@@widchaponjearaphunt5452 It's not that weird for AJ, talking about it goes against his puhgressivist thought process.
This story makes zero sense and sounds completely made up. No consultancy firm would ever ask for that amount of money, more so towards a company that they are not doing business with.
@@shadowmaydawn Regardless of the money involved, the media are mis-translating Gaming Science employee social media posts, with intent into offensive english to pan them in their coordinated hit pieces.
I dont know why alex always says he has problems with steam but never says what his problem is. I have had and used steam for over 15 years now and I dont think I have ever had an issue, any issue usually falls to the developer. Valve are not perfect but in the gaming world they are definitely up there for consumers. The reason they top is because most people love them and the alternative is so much worst
Star Citizen needs an ANGRY JOE REVIEW
The reason steam has a monopoly is because all the other competitors launchers are complete garbage and frankly I don't want more than one launcher in my pc.
Joe: “I’m a fan of breaking up monopolies”
Also Joe: “WHY DO I HAVE TO GET THE GAME ON EPIC AND NOT JUST ON STEAM LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE”
Steam isnt a monopoly, the competition just sucks lel
What has steam actually done that is monopolistic? Unless im misinformed, the answer is nothing.
Asking for price parity jsnt monopilistic, its an agreement to not overcharge steam users or allow devs to undercut the general market by taking big dollar deals for platforms that *want* exclusive monopoly like Epic.
It's damn near close to a monopoly, but the point is that they didn't achieve their market share through anti-competitive tricks.
Exactly, the competition used shady tactics and STILL failed. Valve put in the work, which is why people WANT to be with them.
GOG is fine and I like them better because I can actually download my games and have them forever until my PC breaks unlike steam where I'm tied to the software and I don't own my games I am renting them.
@@Spooky799kil I agree with this, I think Steam should be pressured into making steam purchased content as actual owned content that cannot be removed from an account. With exceptions for refund processes, or whatever else is reasonable.
I'm not super into Warhammer, I've never played any tabletop game and have just dabbled in a few of the 40k videogames, but now I want to start just so I can show up to a tournament with a Slaanesh army while wearing a very nice suit.

Only 17% of starfiel on steam complete the executive level quest. Not sure if that is the last one or near it but it doesn't look good.
OJ and Alex should play Disco Elysium, I think they would LOVE how weird and wild the game is. I'd love to watch them make the most ridiculous choices!
Put time stamps
Disco Elysium is one of the those games you have to experience in your lifetime. I almost ignored the game but when all of sudden it was briefly banned in Australia, I actually bought a copy at full price as a form of protest. And then it suddenly wasn't banned down under. Cause even though our classification system was updated a long while ago, games and other media still fall under the ban hammer... until they don't. Cause our system is still broken, even just a little bit. As for the game itself... indescribable. It's an experience that leaves you changed upon finishing it. Too bad we won't ever see a follow up to it.
Reddit is down the hall and to the left.
I sign to for random class actions and I make like $40 per case cuz nobody keeps up with em
lets go alex lets get hyped for Shadow of the Erdtree!!!!
Nintendo specifically said in their announcement that there is no information about the Switch successor, so temper those expectations.
Disco Elysium reminded me of Alastair Reynolds' "Terminal World" book whatwith the pale and all
Why is CIG pretends that there is a functioning in-game economic in SC?🤨
1100 is a lot for mega blocks 🤔
if your game is not on GOG or STEAM I pretty much ignore it. Most of the time. I even rebought HALO collection on STEAM just so i didnt have to use the microsoft store. If Alan Wake 2 doesnt arrive to STEAM i just wont play it. I rebought WRC on STEAM because i had issues with EPIC store playing games offline. Also offline mode, your game better be offline compatible and STEAM for the most part bar a few titles, is pretty offline mode friendly. Even Blizzard games, ill buy Torchlight and not diablo, because i can play it using STEAM and i can use it offline. I have Alan Wake 1 on STEAM, i want Alan Wake 2 on STEAM also.
I’ve thought about getting a Slaanesh army, but I don’t want people giving me that side eye 😂, I went with Wood Elves instead
Is GoG still a place to buy games?
No Joe, we do not want to reroll our Division characters lol.
This gave me the final push after 1300 hours in to leave the game.
But at least they showed their Div 3 hand which has saved me some future money.
I played the Division 2. I took over every base in every city section and built each base up and then...a mercenary company turned up and immediately took all my bases at the same time in a split second and then the game said...now you have to take every base all over again and build each base up again...yeah I uninstalled it then because...fuck that.
Didn't know that about Starfield. I saw the Trackers Guild update so I started a new character, I did the first mission which fizzled out...then all you get are missions boards with the same rinse and repeat boring generic quests that don't pay very well. I did not know that there is a paid second half of that mission because mods and the crapation club don't interest me one bit.

It’s a super sad story but also quite interesting what can happen to “the little fish” in the game industry.
I'm very upset about the direction that the industy is taking. although, my money is hard earned and they are not getting any😁
Success is not illegal. Epic had the best chance anyone was ever going to get to turn their own store into real competition, but Tim Sweeney just couldn't stop being a petulant man-child for a few months. Valve did nothing and won. If the industry has to be a quasi-monopoly, we could do far worse.
