Actually, Alcaraz didn't even seem bothered that much with Medvedevs game. It was almost too easy for him. The Sinner match up is harder to handle. Sinner has more pop from both wings and doesn't stand back out to the light pole to return serve, or throughout rallies. Often times he's the one up at the baseline putting pressure on Alcaraz. You really didn't see that from Medvedev.
I see a lot of Roger Federer in Carlos alcaraz. He serves volleys and is not afraid to come to the net. Good forehand as well and his serve has improved a lot.He bombs 125+ serves. He plays really agressive tennis.
0:46 Wow, Federer like forehand from Alcaraz, amazing! This kid has a great future, could be the next all time great at this rate, with many grand slam wins.
He’s gonna be the most popular player on tour for a while, but then he’s gonna get too good. Maybe push 16, 17 grand slams. Then everyone’s gonna start to hate him because the younger generation will compare him to Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, and that’s when all of the big 3 oldhead fans who used to hate each other will unite to unleash all their toxicity onto the next generation. I feel so bad for those kids.
Carlos is the real deal - above the whole pack with the perfect mix of problem-solving and being consistent from the baseline; He's very likely to dominate the field for a long time until their gameplan isn't just on crunching the ball hard from the baseline. Congratulations for a well deserved victory.
Lo spagnolo lo ha semplicemente àsfaltato. Per varietà di gioco. Per intelligenza tattica. Ma ha aggiunto anche una ulteriore potenza ed elasticità atletica assolutamente impressionante. Straripante. Umiliante per gli altri.
I am more than embarrassed to say what I was doing at his age. Alcaraz world no 1 at mens tennis, and with the world at his feet, and the game to blow ANYONE off a tennis court, wow, simply incredible.
When Roger Federer was playing his best on a hard court he could make other great players look ordinary. Now Alcaraz is doing something similar. He practices on specific shot making, just like Federer did.
@@lov6858 I am pretty sure laws are not made for one tennis player. They were passed independently from Novak. I personally think they are stupid, and I agree it is a shame we didn't get the number 1 and 2 in the world to play against each other for an entire year as a result, but it should come soon enough (probably in Rome or Monte Carlo).
@@lov6858 US doesn’t give a damn about tennis lol. Politicians don’t care about Djokovic. Only TH-cam trolls care enough about Djokovic to do something like that.
He's an artist and a blacksmith all combined into one. That was quite the performance. Daniil didn't lose as much as was pounded into submission. Someone who has won 20 matches on the trot, getting beaten 3 & 2 isn't normal. Just that he came up against an irresistible player.
Love Carlos' all-court game. His game is the perfect antithesis to Medvedev's. Especially when you see how he used to the S&V to take advantage of Medvedev's deep return position. He's able to get away with that deep return position against most everybody else. But against Carlos, who's comfortable coming forward, it works against him.
+Pomerlain89 I don't understand why Carlos even bothers coming to net, just hit a drop shot easy winner when he's that far away? Why doesn't everyone do this makes no sense how Medvedev gets away with it
Carlos, I love ❤️ everything about you! Your playing style is something unique and yet so entertaining at the same time. It's a real treat for the spectators! I'm glad we share the same birthday 🎂 😊
Loved the respect Daniil showed for Carlitos, saying "he's the most respectful player on tour, greeting 300 people a day on every tournament, and you rarely see that". Respect on and off the court makes the difference ❤
Notice his return position against DM's second serve - well inside the baseline, taking time away from DM. A tactically superb move. Throughout the match Carlos looked like he was playing well within himself which should make him even scarier for opponents! Love his 'patient aggressive' play and pure joy for the game. He has shown that all the hype was - well, not enough 🐯🎾
When you know how good is Medeved Carlos Alcaraz ‘s performance speaks volume. I think he is the favourite to win the next French Open at Rolland Garros.
As a Roger fan, I've seen plenty of unreal serve & volley throughout the last decades. But what Carlos did yesterday against Daniil is beyond ridiculous. What a raw talent 😮👏
I am just thankful to witness the rise of Alcaraz. He has one of the most outstanding raw talent out there: amazing power, amazing speed, amazing skill and shot selection. With all other players like Medvedev or Tsitsipas you can see obvious shortcoming that prevents them from great to outstanding, but not this guy. He has no limit.
He's also only what 19? I think he's still developing so. Also even if he doesn't make it to 30 he's already had a better career in 18 months than anyone not named djokovic, nadal, or federer on the mens side for many years so.
@@ahmedisa3723 People said the same about Nadal at the beginning of his career because his style is so physical and in particular his forehand pretty extreme. He's had his struggles along the way especially now so late in his career but he's still won an awful lot of titles. I suspect Alcaraz will too.
@@Grant_Ferstat It could be that Nadal got lucky, though. And as strange as it is to say, Alcaraz's game might be even more physical than Nadal's in a way.
Que orgullo poder ver el Espiritu de truinfo en ti Carlos!! Felicidades que sea el Principio de tu Gran Carrera en el tenis...Gracias por inspirarme a mi tambien en el caminar de la Vida 💙
Amazing Carlos! Breathtaking to watch. He was on another level in this match. He showed that he can be extra patient -- very intentional hitting. You can almost see that he was extra careful in his strokes hence, fewer UE. This is the type of play style that would win him more slams. Vamos Carlitos!!
Exceptionnel niveau de jeu, du jamais vu à cet âge. C'est du beau tennis que tout le monde aime voir, un artiste comme l'était Federer à son zénith. Bravo Carlos.
I feel bad that Medvedev’s winning streak came to an end. I wanted see him win, but it was clear early on that Alcaraz was outpacing him. Also, I don’t know how many of you remember this, but when Meddy first came to prominence it was his killer serve that was trademark. No one could return it, and today the roles were reversed. It was Alcaraz who was dominating the serves. Oh well, there’s always Miami.
This may be Carlito's most complete big game performance of his young career. I stated after his 2nd match of the tournament that he only had 2 remaining weaknesses to his game: a) momentary lapses in his mental focus once or twice a match, that allow the top players to get a sudden break of serve that can be the difference in the match. b) a weak serve relative to all the top guys -- neither getting the power that he produces in his forehands and even backhands, nor hitting the pinpoint angles that create aces or unreturnable serves. Well, today he was deadly focused from start to finish, and gave a superb returner a really tough time on many serves. The sky is the limit to what he can end up achieving. And he's an A+ in personal character and lovability to top it all off. As for Medvedev, he showed again in the award ceremony what a truly decent guy he is. It's a shame that he cannot conquer his tendency to lose it when something goes wrong, which has and will continue to cost him big victories.
I don't think he's ever going to be a power server, but he can definitely learn to put that bit of touch and placement on his serves as he gets more feel for the ball. I remember thinking wow, this kid is the new version of Nadal, but now he's hitting half volleys and overhand one handers like he's Federer. I think him overcoming his mental lapses is just going to come with time, but if he can keep his current demeanor and gain Ryabkina's unshakeableness, he's the best shot we've got.
Alcaraz's serve has finally arrived. Now that he hits his spots and doesn't get broken anymore, he seems near unstoppable. Masterclass performance against Medvedev. He applied a perfect game plan and executed perfectly. But it is also that he loves the slow court, he has more time to retrieve balls and arm his shots. He struggles much more against tall powerful players on fast courts because of his short wing span. This is why he did great in this tournament against FAA and Sinner who usually cause him more trouble. We should not expect the same in Cincinnati, Toronto, Paris or New York vs. Medvedev.
Everyone talks about Carlitos. What about Juan Carlos Ferrero. What a legend to have found a goldmine and take him through the hardwork to get to where he is today.
Alcaraz is simply monstrous......Sinner all in all is the one who has put him in the most difficulty ......se Alcaraz still improves his tennis there is nothing for anyone to do...if Sinner still manages to go up another step ( it is possible ) we will see some good things
Awww! Carlitos! Absolute prime performance. Demolished Medvedev in fashion. Such a genius shot-making ability❤. Remnants of Roger and Rafa combined with a pitch of Hewitt's relentless defence. You make tennis worth watching again.
Tactically superior play from Alcaraz. Obviously studied Medvedev’s game, worked out its weaknesses (which is its geometric novelty, which against other players has hitherto been a strength) and executed an absolutely crushing victory. Total domination.
He was tired and running on fumes. Not to take away anything from Alcaraz but he beat a fatigued and possibly burned out Medvedev. He was already exhausted vs Tiafoe.
What a performance by Alcaraz who’ll regain his ATP No. 1 ranking on Monday and a 14-1 match record for the year. Medvedev must be exhausted having played almost nonstop since February 13th, an 18-1 match record since (20-3 in 2023) and a No. 5 ranking. It’s just a matter of time before Medvedev is No. 3. Djokovic is still a solid 15-1 in 2023. The battle for No. 1 is heating up with 3 contenders: 1. Alcaraz 2. Medvedev 3. Djokovic
OFF course not it is a fake without the best , Nobak , ashamed: Usa Biden clown government to stop the honest and most brave Novak , just for refusing to be rat lab !!!
I always root for the guy trying to win the points rather than the one trying not to lose them. It's why I was a Fed fan and why I'm becoming an Alcaraz fan.
@@ramjeenakka586 Nadal beat Alcaraz last year indian wells just a week before Alcaraz went on to win Miami and Alcaraz beat Nadal on clay last year too. 🤔
Its great to see a number one who is bringing back the drop shot. I think this is a much under used shot amongst most big hitters and top players but Alcarez is well and truly bringing it back and mixing it up with his big hitting. Congrats to you and pity Medvedev didn't bring his A game today.
Is anyone astonished in the views Alcaraz matches get on youtube? This video is already at 1.1 million views. The last time a match highlights video consisting of only two players featured had over 1 million views was the Madrid Open final, 1.4 mill views; the semi-final of Madrid, 2.5 million; the quarter, 2 million; and the Miami Open final, 1.4 million. All involved Alcaraz. And, even crazier, the Indian wells final last year between Nadal and Fritz has a total of 1.1 million views, which this vid reached in 2 days.
This match looked like a beginner vs. Club Pro. Alcaraz was literally toying with a hapless and frustrated Medvedev. On a faster surface, it would have been a legitimate competition, but on slower surface, Alcaraz has too many options and too much firepower for Medvedev.
In a faster surface we don't know. And well, the players have to play on the surface and with the balls they are provided with in each tournement. Period. If you don't like to play on a particular surface then just stay at home.
Medvedev lacks a good weapon other than his being one with a wall. The one alternative weapon he has (hard flat hits cross court) were neutralized due to Carlos' speed.
Alcaraz is by far, the most gifted player on the circuit right now and will be able to develop a unique game around his talent that is difficult to beat. To give an example, Federer, another supremely gifted player, developed the SABR, that only Kyrgios has attempted and I see Alcaraz pushing the game even higher. If he only wins one slam per year until the theoretical retirement age of 37, he's still going to be close to the big 3 in terms of GOAT status and he has the potential to win a lot more than this - I say good luck to him
Please, the SABR was nothing more than a cute strategy, did he use it much? Or anybody else for that matter? No, he used it a few times almost out of desperation, never to be seen again. It's a type of play that really doesn't work, except for the surprise of it, and hope that it goes in. And I'm a Federer fan. The SABR was much ado about nothing. But he milked it all he could by even naming it himself... "the SABR"... Ridiculous
@@creativestudio101 - The fact he could pull of a shot so outrageous during his late 30s, when reflexes and movement are slower underlines both my points, which you seem to have overlooked a) It requires an extraordinary talent Hence answers your question why nobody else has managed it) and b) young Alcaraz has the raw talent to develop similar unique weapons. Otherwise, thanks for you opinion; it may be lightheared, but I disagree it is ridiculous
@@Abhi-wh3ik - I would like to see what a younger Federer could have done with that shot? Alcaraz has the talent to pull it off regularly and he did so yesterday against Medvedev in the second set
I think one overlooked weapon of his game is the amazing amount of pressure he puts on the second serve. His rival has to either take too many risk or try to secure his first serve. And it is constant all over the match. I'd like to see stats about 1st serve speed and number of double faults of his rivals
Exciting? Did you see the ease at which he's winning these titles? Tennis needs rivalries like Big 3 who can challenge each other. I'm saying it as a fan.
@@Abhi-wh3ik yes, rivalries are good for the game and for the fans. Big 3 are now Big 2 and in all probabilities, next set of champions would arise soon. And who knows, in a couple of years another teenager might rise up like Alcaraz or the current set of challengers might raise their game and another new set of Big 3 or 4 might start dominating the Men's circuit
It's obvious now... the only person who can legitimately compete and potentially beat Carlos Alcaraz on a slower hardcourt is Novak Djokovic. No one else comes close.
@@luilo7848 true, but I do think Alcaraz’s game strategy and execution has massively improved, and it was already at a high level lt year which is what makes this scary. Also, Nadal injured a rib last year whilst playing Alcaraz due to the toughness of the match, so it certainly wasntan easy feat (I say this having been and still being an ardent nadal supporter)

I see a lot of Roger Federer in Carlos alcaraz. He serves volleys and is not afraid to come to the net.
Good forehand as well and his serve has improved a lot.He bombs 125+ serves. He plays really agressive tennis.
His forehand sometimes and backhand slice placement is close to Fed❤
0:46 Wow, Federer like forehand from Alcaraz, amazing! This kid has a great future, could be the next all time great at this rate, with many grand slam wins.
Yepp, inside out forehand of Federer. God I miss Rog on the tour.😢

The growth of Carlos in just one year is spectacular.

Why doesn't everyone do this makes no sense how Medvedev gets away with it
Fabuloso Carlos. Llegará dónde quiera si las lesiones lo respetan.

Good to see Alcaraz reaching his potential. He is the future of men’s tennis.
Thank you, Carlos. Just thank you.
What a great return to the tour.
Respect on and off the court makes the difference ❤
yeah, being gracious in defeat is the sign of a true champion. A far cry from the Rune’s of this world in defeat and wanting the last word.
Medvedev have the ugliest shots on the tour

🙌🏻 Djokovic 🙌🏻 > Nadal
I am just thankful to witness the rise of Alcaraz. He has one of the most outstanding raw talent out there: amazing power, amazing speed, amazing skill and shot selection. With all other players like Medvedev or Tsitsipas you can see obvious shortcoming that prevents them from great to outstanding, but not this guy.
He has no limit.

Alcaraz is surely a special type of player. His ability to change pace whenever he wants and in any way he wants is exceptional.
@Rafa undisputed Goat lol
Alcaraz’s serve was bullying Medvedev from the get go!! Incredible performance 🔥
He's unbelieveable. If he stays injury free he could do anything.
His way of playing inevitably makes him vulnerable to injuries, as happened after US Open last year
He's also only what 19? I think he's still developing so. Also even if he doesn't make it to 30 he's already had a better career in 18 months than anyone not named djokovic, nadal, or federer on the mens side for many years so.
@@ahmedisa3723 People said the same about Nadal at the beginning of his career because his style is so physical and in particular his forehand pretty extreme. @Rafa undisputed Goat you have been saying this for every tournament for a long time.
Alcaraz plays beautiful tennis. I see in him everything that the big three have, his game really has no holes.
Alcaraz is an absolute freak - for someone so young to already be seeing this much success against top level talent, it's incredible.

Alcaraz....it is unfolding and unraveling right before our eyes... Wow!!!
Hi from Philly ! Bravo Alcatraz, bravo! I'm your fan and wish you any beautiful moments In your life ! Thank you !
Medvedev.
He is the Future of Tennis! I saw this coming 2 years ago. This boy is Amazing!
Por fin un resumen bueno, pedazo de puntos, qué variedad y qué completo es este chaval, a ver si le dura este nivel.

I have literally never seen Medvedev so suffocated before..
Yesterday, in the match with Tiafoe, gasoline ran out, so Medvedev could not apply for the match in any way, he escaped only with an ace.
Tactically superior play from Alcaraz. Obviously studied Medvedev’s game, worked out its weaknesses (which is its geometric novelty, which against other players has hitherto been a strength) and executed an absolutely crushing victory. Total domination.
@@carlkligerman1981 Medvedev just got tired after 19 wins and merged

What a performance by Alcaraz who’ll regain his ATP No. 1 ranking on Monday and a 14-1 match record for the year.

Absolute madness!! Well done to Alcaraz
Carlos was very composed and focus, great effort there from him. Because when he is super hype makes more errors. Great team effort.
Alcaraz is just amazing to watch. I can't believe he beat Medvedev like he did
Agree
Ridiculous
Andys used it a few times
Oh, yeah, the SABR which came and went away in weeks after being unsuccessful against the player he intended to beat with it. What a gift to tennis.

And it is constant all over the match. I'd like to see stats about 1st serve speed and number of double faults of his rivals
