- Texas A&M rolled over Missouri last weekend as Mike Elko saw his Aggie team head into the bye week on a roll. On Josh Pate's College Football Show Ep 565 Josh Pate was joined by Cole Cubelic and the two discussed Texas A&M both now and what it could look like in the future. Is Mike Elko building a sustained winner in College Station? Could Texas A&M challenge as early as this season for a College Football Playoff spot? As an A&M alum/fan, I am absolutely not overlooking anyone on our schedule. The A&M fans that jumped straight to Texas are making the rest of us reasonable people look bad.
I think it’s right to take it a game at a time, but winning the Missouri game makes the Texas game meaningful, as at that point it could (potentially, mind you) be the difference between making and missing the playoff, whereas before we weren’t expecting to be sniffing the top 10 by then.
sounds like an a&m fan that’s for sure
Nonsense take. Who cares if a fan is thinking about the Texas game? We don’t play the games. It literally changes nothing. A&M hasn’t played t.u. in over 12 years and it appears the first game back might be a big one. That’s an exciting prospect
In no way was I saying we shouldn’t be excited for the Texas game. All I’m saying is we shouldn’t be overlooking anyone and assuming we’re gunna coast to Texas. Anyone who thinks/says that is just setting themselves up to be mocked after we lose to South Carolina or Auburn.
I’ve been victim to BAS too many times to overlook anything lol
After watching A&M choke a 34 point lead against UCLA, I do not want to disregard any team we play.
New staff and a new team, but BAS runs strong in the Aggie community.
yeah, I may have mentioned this to our fans around us when we went up 34-0 vs. Mizzou. Felt worse after the missed hold TD for Mizzou to make it 34-7. Felt pretty good after our TD to make it 41-7.
This is a much different team and staff. Move forward in life.
Yeah because teams don’t change despite changing coaches twice already.
Where did the B_S thing start? I've only seen it in Tennessee forums as BVS, just wondering if we started it with our absurd level of online activity as a fanbase 😂
@@Nathan-ct9eh it has been here since Sumlin days.. we invented it. But OP apparently lives under a rock as I haven’t seen it this year. All I have seen was “10-2 is the minimum”.. which is over estimating.
All the talent is finally coming together We Should take one game at a time Elko will get us where we need to go this year or next
Thanks for covering us so well Josh! Gigs
2022 class at A&M is not disintegrated. 13 of those guys still there including Conner, Noah , Shemar Stewart and Moss.
Yeah for real. The 2022 class is starting to have a real impact and that means they’ve “disintegrated”? Weird take Josh.
@@Christopher-so4dn - compared to other classes and the 70% who have left, yes, it "disintegrated". For a "normal" high quality class, it's about normal -- 8 solid contributors, 4-5 solid backups. That's about normal for a good class. Just that it was a "record breaking" class that should have done much more.
Best Pate take I’ve ever seen. 👏🏻
Chronic BAS for over 20 yrs, no opponent is overlooked. Nice to daydream occasionally but lets see how they handle state. One of those Mississippi schools always beat A&M every year (except 2012) and this is the only one this year
Not to give you worse symptoms of BAS, but remember when we lost to AR state?
@@jakechapman6892 what does BAS stand for 😅
@@tristannigos battered Aggie syndrome, it’s kind of a joke based on battered wife syndrome
@@tristannigos Battered Aggie Syndrome
Yeah, mike Sherman’s first game. Really summed up his time in CS. Good recruiter, good game day planning, bad or non halftime adjustments. Looking back on the 2012 team had a lot of nfl guys. Almost the entire offense. But my understanding is he wanted to stay in the big 12. That and 2nd half collapses ended his time.
BAS is Battered Aggie Syndrome. Similar to how an abused woman stays with her abuser.
It’s a term used to describe the culture of underachievement in Texas A&M football. It refers to the tendency of Aggies to always be prepared for the worst and to feel at home when it happens
how dope would a Lone Star Shootout rematch for SEC champ game
I would prefer that over any other team.
100% both fan bases should want this. It would be HUGE for the STATE of Texas
Not only that but I also wanna see Texas Tech in the BIG 12 and SMU in the ACC
@@ethanluttrell Historically, when teams face each other again in the same season the results predominantly end up split. Having beaten the other team once I would be reluctant to give my opponent another shot, especially knowing that if the second time is for a title.
It’s looking pretty highly likely
A&M has the roster to win it all. Stuff needs to still develop and they’ll need atleast one break but it’s not unrealistic
I love Coach Elko, was an assistant at my university, his son plays baseball at my university. sincerely hope he can reach the potential A&M has but history says not possible. one game provides a glimpse of what is possible but does not mean the Aggies can duplicate that effort going forward. let's see how they handle the rest of their schedule. may take a few years to really change the culture, the perception there.
Probably still weakness with defensive backfield. There will be big plays against them. But defensive front is stout. And O Line improving. I think the attitude is in the right place.
Great stuff Josh 👍
Us bald brothas gotta stick together. Liked and subscribed.
As an Aggie, I think too much is being made over this game. Missouri was definitely over- rated, so we really didn’t beat the #8 team in the country. A&M is definitely improved, Elmo is the right guy, but the culture needs to sink in first.
I am a retired Army officer. We stressed Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs) because the soldiers must know the TTPs to make the unit successful in mission accomplishment.
Josh I am curious what you mean by roster limitations, I believe A&M has a top 10 talent roster and a *potentially* a first round talent at QB - that will take you as far as you want to go with good coaching and a little luck.
Just a couple holes here and there. No game-breaking WR or LB
Anyone getting their hopes up about the Aggies making a run haven’t been A&M fans for long enough. Most years expecting 1 win is too much forget expecting 6.
Been a fan for over 30 years. This team is different

@2:14 Ed Orgeron didn't work out!?!? He won a national championship in 2019. What is Cole smoking?
Didnt he get fired?
@@TheJhalladey winning a national championship is a win no matter if he only lasted 5 years.
LSU will be tough luckily we have the tigers at home.....
Go Clemson. Edgemoor South Carolina.
A&M won’t do anything better than 2012. That’s their ceiling.
Winning small would be nice.
a&m is going to get better. new staff new things for a bunch of guys to learn. But we are fired up about how they beat Mizzou at home. Mizzou hasn't impressed anyone this season. their game against texas is going to make a big difference for how the season is perceived. if texas blows them out. fan's won't be happy. if they win regardless of losses they will keep the momentum
Kane is fired
Yeah not fair to say the 2022 class has disintegrated.
Quinten Pine
Jimbo mismanaged the roster with his recruiting. Dude would load up on a ton of DL and neglect other positions. He didn't develop our players either.
Missouri was highly over rated, and A&M has a solid track record of being ranked and losing to shit teams
Missouri will lose a few more games this season. Heck they’ve won so many close games.
Our Arkansas win looks better now though
I don't necessarily believe it's "beating Mizzou" that is making people believe this talk about A&M. It's the way in which they won.
Weigman was decisive/pin pointing balls into tight spaces. Defensive backs shut down 2 of the best WRs in CFB. Defensive line was utterly dominant in pass rush & rush defense. It was a damn near perfect game for A&M. That's why it was impressive. They didn't even look like that against McNeese St or Bowling Green.
If they stay out of the way they can beat anyone anyplace anytime, nothing has changed, if you put a governor on a race car you ruin it.its happened with every coach they've had, do your job an get out of the way!! If you want all the credit, 😮😢🎉😂go ahead and take it, but stop holding these players back with all that culture BS!! it's football, and they are football player!! For God's sake!!
They take care of buisness.
Go Irish ☘️
I don't think Texas has any highly ranked QB's who can transfer to A&M to help him out like Murphy did.
Schedule easily allows A&M to win out till Texas. Easiest schedule by far in the SEC, expect perhaps Mizzou’s. No Bama, UT, UGA, OU, Ole Miss. Not even Kentucky. The best teams in the SEC without a doubt. They only have to play Texas at home. I guess LSU will be sort of a test but they are not that good this year. Lost to Southern Cal, and got beat up by them.
