    You teach me so much! I've been following your channel for SOOOOOOOO MAAAANY YEARS... my tribe thinks that I'm great at using Photoshop, but almost all I know I've learned from your channel and the additional tutorials I've purchased from your website. When I watch a video like this one, suddenly I feel like a total newbie!!! 😳😅🤷‍♀️

    I do a frequency separation and after getting the skin to look good, I duplicate the sharpen layer, add a black mask, paint the eyes and lips with white then reduce the opacity to about 10%, sharpness is done in a couple of seconds.

    • @someonewithsomename
      @someonewithsomename 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, just don't use frequence seperation

    • @promodelsphotographystudio4565
      @promodelsphotographystudio4565 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah im stuck here at 4:13 coz it wont let me make a layer mask.. i will proceed to youtube sharpen with frequency separation.

    Seriously, to say. A year ago I was terrified of PS CC. I still watched all the Phlearn vids haha. Just watching countless hours of Aaron do his thing, got me in the understanding of how PS worked even still being "afraid" to dive in. I was still staying with LR Classic (dumb name). Six months ago, I finally took the plunge and the quality of my images and work has exponentially shot up, Noticeably so, I'm even getting more clientele in with how everyone digs the new workflow, which is always evolving and expanding with new techniques and practice, Thanks Aaron and Phlearn for not making PS scary anymore haha!!

    Very good approach. In addition to High Pass, I use the Sharpen tool to enhance fine details on a duplicated layer set to Overlay and turn down layer Opacity as required, if I over sharpen.

  • @kapturebenoit8173

    i like that approach, i do something similar. but since ACR improve, so now it's pretty good for sharpen, I change my workflow towards that process... and work great as smart object...

    Why does he create a layer mask on the layer at 4:07 instead of using the layer mask, which is already there for the smart filter? I'm aware this is probably an amateur question, but please could someone answer. Thank you.

    • @dallasdean769
      @dallasdean769 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because if you only apply it to the smart filter, you will still get the high pass data coming through for the rest of the layer.

    The export for web option, also has the ability to increase the sharpening while you can decrease the size of the image, what would be the best method?

  • @zvett79
    @zvett79 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    When making and sharpening the small version av the image I would have downsampled (image size) the big image with the sharpening layers intact and then just adjusted the smart high pass filters to values apropriate for the new smaller image size. That would have saved time.
    Also instead of duplicating the sharpened smart objects to increase the sharpening effect try increasing the contrast of the high pass filtered smart object by clipping a brigtness/contrast adjustment layer to it. Increase the contrast and the sharpening will increase.

      Hey there! You can choose to import images with "Apply Sharpening" turned off. That way you have more control over the process.
