Heck maybe all 3 could be energy constructs and you could even let the spike fire energy. It could be the main weapon of a elite militaristic nation.

    On seeing the weapon used to penetrate, the opponent is immobile and they're incredibly open. Big open baseball swings.
    I think worth a test would be frontal attacks. When they do the test to extra the Bec, he pretty much throws the Doll directly behind him into his allies. Then he has recovery time where he is open and the Doll's ally or more could strike. In a formation it would be hard to get those horizontal swings.
    So I would like to see these horizontal baseball swings where the Doll's "Side" is the target, as that should reduce the flat, unangled surfaces. Also coming from the sides also brings arms in as a factor. The hit will still cripple a man, but less fatal.

    This is basically what I argued back when you did katana vs. mail. If you put a tip on the katana matching either the spike or beak, it would penatrate. To be fair, the amount of penatration wouldn't be as significant as the beak on this as you're swing it gathering speed. The question then becomes, could it penatrate enough to hit organs?

    You test triplex with the bec and see how it is performs, see if armor used to stop muskets stands up to the bec. Bullet proofed armor and tournaments with poleaxes coexisted for a bit. Prime melee weapon to mess up a dragon.

    Well, I guess we can call the BERK the most SAVAGE Medieval weapon. Seriously NOTHING STOPS THIS THING! The only improvement i can think of is putting tiny spikes on the Hammer to make it like a Meat Tenderizer.

  • @aeonise
    @aeonise 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    While a bec de corbin stands out in one-on-one and mixed combat where you have room to swing it, it's just not much good for massed infantry where your only options are stabbing and a very telegraphed overhead swing. Definitely the sort of weapon a medieval adventurer should consider.

    • @Muritaipet
      @Muritaipet 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, the usual way of using it was to have the spear point at the other end facing the enemy. Then the hammer / crows beak are back, ready for a short or long swing, if the opportunity presents.
      So it could be used in a massed infantry situation. I'd suggest halberd / bec / halberd / bec or similar, in the line. It's main disadvantage is always going to be length / reach / being outreached.

    • @aeonise
      @aeonise 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Muritaipet I'm not sure that would be much better. Lacking space to the sides, you're still locked into only two strikes, and either the thrust has _extremely_ short reach (if holding in a grip to make strikes with the bec end), or it merely has short reach and you have to adjust your hands for the overhead swing (if holding choked up to the bec end). Like you say, reach is a problem, and the inability to maneuver in massed infantry compounds the issue. I stand by thinking it's better suited to individuals than formations.

    • @Muritaipet
      @Muritaipet 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aeonise To be clear, historically you are right. Most infantry formations used big, long polearms - halberds et al. And they spent a lot of time thrusting at the other side, and going for their backs, necks and legs.
      My suggestion is that somewhere in that massed formation, you've got the guy with the can opener. And probably quite a few of them.
