-Ok, that’s a lot to work with but I suppose it’s manageable. It should be interesting to see how Kurapika, Melody, Hanzo, and Basho handle such a complicated conflict
Togashi: also, here’s thirty-ish bodyguards all with names and unique nen abilities.

Togashi: and there are three crime families aboard the ship attempting to influence the outcome of the succession war. Be prepared to learn about each of their members individually.

It should be noted these 3 Mafia families are headed by 2 half uncles and a half sister all fincially funded by one of the Princes
Oldest Half Uncle who leads the Xi-Yu family and is supported by the intelligent 3rd Prince. They agreed to hunt down Hisoka to sell the info to the Phantom Troupe however after a couple days lost 300 members.
Fun fact the Underboss nen power is confirmed to be based on Golden Experience from JoJo's
The Half Sister who leads the Heil-Ly family and is supported by the maniac 4th prince. Her power is to effect people through a kiss allowing them to level up like a video game for killing and what not. They were tied to 8 of the Xi-Yu death and suspected for all 300.
The younger half uncle who leads the Cha-R family and is supported by the dumb 7th prince. An they are teaming up with the Phantom Troup and responsible for smuggling Nobunaga, Feitana and Phinks weapons on board.
Imagine being the third prince, a intelligent, educated adult with competent supporters and connections, who has spent many years preparing. Rely on your own men, not hunters for support, you think thats playing it safe. You figure you've got a decent shot, but then a few hours into the battle royale you learn about nen and realise that there is a astronomical gap between you and your elders and that even a baby like Wobble has a better chance with Kurapika at her side.

The 4th prince who hates lying women happens to be in a temporary alliance with the 5th prince Tubeppa, who is a woman most likely lying to him with intentions of saving the younger siblings from the older ones . Hmm i wonder how that's going to turn out between them

I almost shed a tear during Kacho's death. She seemed like the average spoiled rich kid but she actually cared for her sister deeply.
So much so that her Nen beast was made so that neither of them would be alone should something happen to the other.

I love how complex this arc is. It’s amazing world-building. It shows the vastness and the magnitude of politics, and how insanely strategic and dirty obtaining power is.
I would have preferred a time skip to the dark continent over this arc myself

10:58 8th Prince Sale - Sale's nen beast emitted a gas that slowly and passively granted the prince influence over those within a certain distance from him. Sale Sale was lazy and wanted life and love to come easy to him. The beast was perfect for that. The women and body guards he kept nearby grew to love him. If nothing special happened, there's a chance his nen beast would passively win the war so long as he maintained contact with the right people, especially since it created small clones around the afflicted to further spread it's influence. Unfortunately the nen beast had no offensive or defensive capabilities what so ever. It'd be absolutely broken in the hands of someone more self sufficient like kurapika though
It didn't help that the beast would be weakest after he had great "pleasure" and his Guard stationing left 3 potential openings his assassin was able to use to kill him.
Yes but to be fair, someone more self sufficient would never get such a nen beast to begin with.
The nature of the beast is why someone like Kurapika would never create one or suited for him
The Succession War is a whole new show of its own. It's the biggest and the most complex arc Togashi has ever made for the HxH series. I hope Togashi can manage what he has started. It's just so big and overwhelming since a lot of important events will be happening at the same time.
You would think this man would get hired by Shonen Jump, just based on the sheer detail he notices in these manga! Always awesome videos Liam!

@@slevinchannel7589 the ritual Nen beasts are their own entities so they would use abilities based on their own efficiency. the princes' aura fuels them, but they aren't the result of the princes using an ability to create them
I wanna see more of Kachou’s Nen beast!! The fact her love for Fuugetsu was so strong as to tie a Nen protector to it makes me wonder what “Without You” is actually capable of.
I think most people dont even realze just how f-ed Fuugetsu is.
Yes, for all things 'normal and irrleevant', she will FULLY Support Fuugetsu,
but lets remember the Nen-Beast is... a Nen-Beast created by Evil People.
So its actually working against her.
Yeah, if she trips over a Pebble, she WILL get First Aide, but if she flees
again, at all, Fake-Kacho will work Against her.
Maybe Togashi is going for a Cliche of 'The Fake is SO MUCH Kacho
that she will 'break through her Programming and become Kacho'

@@slevinchannel7589 Lots of unsafe assumptions there. First, the nen beast was created by the seed urn using the individual's blood as the basis. In order to conclude definitively that the nen beast was created by "evil people", you would have to show that both the creator of the urn AND the individual the nen beast was created from are evil, as that's the only way we could arrive at your conclusion with any sort of confidence. Second, even if the nen beast is evil, there's no reason to suspect that it would work against Fuugetsu at all. Like, none. Not even a shred of evidence or logic to suggest that. Third, the "fake is so much like the original that the fake becomes the original" thing isn't a cliche. The concept of imposters in fiction is almost exclusively the realm of daytime soap operas, just in itself. To stretch that idea even further and say one specific niche application of imposters in fiction is a cliche, that's simply nonsense.
At first I hate Kacho because her behavior. And then... I change my mind after know if Kacho was very care about her sister.

@@slevinchannel7589 I'd actually say Fuugetsu is one of the better-off princes in the arc. She already knows the full capabilities of her Nen beast after her research. This is compared to most other princes, who don't even know their own nen beast abilities. She showed innate critical thinking and reasoning, and her subconscious yet crucial tendency to not trust other people as we had seen when she was being interrogated by Mizaistrom may even end up saving her. Her only disadvantage is not knowing how to use Nen.
I think it will be probably a more defense oriented power. Maybe it makes her one of the hardest to kill, it could see togashi doing that.
it's been so long since I caught up with this it just reminds me how bloody amazing HxH is, best series of all time

@@kristiannaabril6770 I’m scared he will without having done enough for the viewers. I thought he was giving his wife free reign to continue for him in lieu of his illness? I’m not sure what’s taking forever but it sounds like all that’s needed is direction, and a viable artist to take care of the actual manga for him. I’m probably being ignorant of the matter but it doesn’t sound all that difficult to hire someone considering famous mangaka will give someone else the ability to draw for them or to fill in the details while they do the base work. All I’m saying here is that I miss the story.

I think Togashi’s art style has been really lazy and inconsistent even with all these breaks and yes there are some amazing panels and drawings, it’s still a disappointment for the whole pre-dark continent and succession war arc to be mostly texts you know what I mean? So I really hope he would just hire a trustworthy artist, but I do know that he has some assistants who helps him do the backgrounds if it takes a toll on him. There were even mentions of his assistants saying sometimes Togashi would pass out during work on his desk because his back pain is really hard on him. Aside from all that, I think his wife is a potential successor if ever Togashi is incapable of finishing HxH series since she’s been practicing Togashi’s art style ever since. I’m also just hoping that he already wrote out the future plots or possibly the ending for the series just in case he leaves this world sighs, someone at least needs to know how to story ends!!!
@@griffy6759 And if you know about Togashi’s history with Yu Yu Hakusho (another one of his manga works), many fans were not happy or satisfied with the ending of YYH because it was rushed and felt incomplete with so many more left behind and unexplored etc, that’s why Togashi personally wrote an apology and an explanation on why he ended Yu Yu Hakusho- it was because of his own selfishness, because he wasn’t interested in the story anymore. So, there’s a possibility that it’s taking him forever because he had lost interest and he’s too sick to even continue HxH, but this also brings me hope because it feels like Togashi is still willing to continue HxH on his own hands as redemption for what he did with YYH. Yeah I find it stubborn and selfish that he refuses to get actual help in terms of creating HxH, but I understand where he’s coming from. I’m still happy that he’s continuing this series despite how much in pain and under pressure he is, plus, HxH is not an easy story to write nor draw. I’ll definitely be one of those who’ll wait no matter how long it takes tho!

6:13 it was also explained that the 3rd prince here has a good side and a bad side. Like two sides of a coin. He's fair but harsh when the time calls for it. Whatever is on the other side of that coin must be a nightmare.
Good recall, likely the coin is two faced and has a second ability. If I had a guess it would be something like adding to why his instinct to spread the wealth is there and showing a good opposite to generosity.

The 14 coffins are definitely going to be used for some sort of nen ritual. There seems to be a 15th pod in the middle of the 14, so my guess is the winner will stand in the middle pod and be granted the power of all the princes who died including the current king. There are also nen engravings (similar to the metal box Ging gave Gon for greed island) on the floor, so some kind of nen ritual could be the goal.

I think that has 14 coffin because 13 is for the princes and 1 for the king himself. look, all the princes has to fight each other and the one that survives will have to fight his father (the current king) for the throne. why I think that? because in chapter 382 when Halkenburg try to kill the king (his Dad)... the king say that he cannot die YET... because he is a part of the ceremony... he can't die until the last prince is decided and then... the prince that survive can kill him and put him on the coffin... and like that, completes the 14 coffin with 13 prince and the current king, and then the ceremony to decide the next king is complete.

Yup pretty much only one of two options here.
13 princes and the king all fuel the new king.
Or all 14 princes to bolster the old one.
That's probably why the current king isn't nonplussed about a deathgame involving his own progeny, regardless who wins it ends the empire gets a new and improved king (it's just a question of who will be behind the wheel of said king when it's all said and done).
Wouldn't be surprised if the death game was merely the preliminary to being allowed to challenge the current king himself in the finale.
Everyone forgets that the body of one of the princes is LITERALLY in the ocean currently.

His hatsu is a lot more terrifying than simple future vision. For that 10 second window, his enemies will not perceive changes he makes to the flow of events until after that window passes, like when that lady thought she shot him in the head, only to have him turn up a moment later alive.

Crack theory, the "tree of kakin" is a Botanical Weapon Brion and the whole succession war is the laundry list of conditions to activate it. The urn that made the beasts is called the "seed urn", we know from official stats that Brion is a species and not just a single entity (it was given a number score of C while the ants were given a B) and also Nasubi's comments of a "tree" of kakin that appears to be the endgame of this whole shebang.
Pretty wild theory but togashi is super creative. Also correct me if I'm wrong I thought Brion was on the dark continent guarding some ancient ruins or something

I just love the setup of this arc so much. The JoJo influence is undeniable but so far it seems like Togashi wants to actually play it straight with the established rule set of all the powers instead of going completely insane and discarding (almost) all internal logic as Araki tends to do.

Camilla might be killable if you kill her killer first. Which depending on the speed of her beast might be difficult or if you find away to seal her nen first like with an apr type ability.

i think how to beat to camilla you proably have too sudue her trapping her or like you said steal ablity. Camilla is threat if she try bait her foes to shoot her. But it wont work experince combant fighter if they figure out her attention.
bare with me im high. imagine halkenberg uses possesion one on her, then has the bodyguard controlling her shoot herself. Would the beast revive her even though it'd be stealing aura from an aura-less body?
Can't she be killed indirectly? Like if you knock her out, put her on a lifeboat and let the game rules kill her. Will her nen beast activate and kill you?
that's an interesting idea! Her hatsu really depends on other people not knowing about it, and being caught by surprise. Even in this story, her enemies figured out that she could simply be put in a jail cell.
One thing that I've wondered about is what if someone killed 2nd prince Camilla by suicide bombing. What exactly would happen in that situation

I’m still sticking with my theory that the point of the gatekeeper is to keep humans out of the dark continent because they are too dangerous to all the other creatures there and the reason dark continent creatures are so strong is they adapted to defend themselves against humans before they were exiled to lake mobius, after earth but not terrible

I have the same thought, it is forbidden. human are originally from the dark continent, and then they get corrupted at certain time in the past, that also explaint why don freek able to to travel to the dark continent.

The Fact : He already has completed 6 chapters, and the every pages he posts on twitter is on progress (now we are on chapter of 7). And well, we will have 10 chapters (1 vol) for sure, but afthat, no-one knows how long the hiatus will be, but glad to see Togashi's health is better day by day ❤

The second prince nen ability has flaw. Let's just say she was killed and the murderer was killed right after, thus no life force is being sucked to revive her.
Which would bring us to the defnition of lifeforce and the question of how much is needed for her to get revived, also does lifeforce immediatly vanish after someones death?
It’s not necessarily that the ability has a flaw as much as I’d say it has conditions. I mean, if you’re using post Mortem nen and quite literally stealing the life force of another it’s bound to come with its restrictions/conditions. The killer dying before she has time to be revived is in itself a risk that makes the ability stronger
@@bballfan315 in addition, her ability is useless against imprisonment and/or prolonged periods of torture. Should she commit suicide, she's gone forever. Her ability can also possibly be stolen by Chrollo or temporarily disabled via forced zetsu like Kurapika's sword chain.
they would have to be aware of her ability, We also don't know if she has a second second ability, post mortem surprise!

Hey Newworldreview, if you're interested, I think I figured out the real reason kalluto joined the troupe; It wasn't to help alluka or rescue a missing brother he wished away,It's actually to save illumi.
Let's go over the facts
1. Illumi is weird as heck. None of the other Zoldycks act like him. Even zeno and silva, who've spent their entire lives killing people don't act as detached as Illumi. It's as if he exists in a perpetual trance.
2. He is extremely strong compared to everyone in his clan except zeno.
3. We know from the troupe's raid on sazan that manipulators can put themselves in a trance, and if they give themselves orders while in said trance, they become massively more powerful than normal.
So, to summarize, I think Illumi put himself in a trance to make himself a more potent assassin at the expense of his own emotions or maybe his agency, and Kalluto is trying to rescue him
So now we get to the question of why he joined the troupe. It all has to do with their powers. Now, none of the are exactly special. Sure they're powerful but that has more to do with experience. I'm sure if Kalluto wanted he could stab a butler a few times and tell him to chacha, or make an evil vacuum. The only real exceptional hatsu is Chrollo. Now, Kalluto probably has a general idea of what chrollo can do, his dad and grandpa tried to off him a few months ago, and he knows that if Chrollo gets a power, the original user loses access to it.
So, in summatition if he can move up the troupe ladder, he can manipulate chrollo to steal Illumi's power, his brother is saved from his own nen trance.

Chrollo that’s all lol.
this arc is definitely influenced by Gu/Jincan which is a traditional from south Chinese culture. so my theory is this succession war didn’t mean to find any true heir of the throne like the king said but the result (aka the survivor one) will be some kind of weapon to make the king himself stronger or more powerful.

Also I’m interested in the 5th prince and 6th prince role here cause of their nen beast’s ability really are close to the outcome of Gu. There are 2 result here, they will die next (to stimulate the ritual) or thair ability will be the last resort to help the other prince (and people on the ship). I hope they will survive though
Or maybe the one who will be stimulating the ritual is morena due to her group that has 23 people which is the same amount number of the oracle bone of Gu. and she is on the new cover volumn 37, so she must play some important role here. (she’ll die next I guess)
I haven't been keeping up with the story. This is the first time I've had to reach watch a video to understand what was said. Togashi is insane. Thank you for the video!!

Man, I'm so excited to be able to read more of what Togashi has cooking for this arc. No matter who we focus on in the upcoming chaps, it's bound to be interesting.
But I am hoping for some major reveals. Kurapika meeting Tsereidnich and realising that he has Pairo's head or seeing it inside his beast, Prince Woble's nen beast and more content on the phantom troupe & Hisoka :)
Of course I'd also love to see anything regarding the Zodiacs / Beyond Netero / Ging & Pariston, but I doubt we'll see much of them until we get to the continent.

Reading those manga chapters was really mind boggling sometimes (a lot to take in font wise lol), I was up to speed but sometimes felt like I couldn’t retain all that Info to remember lol. You broke it down in a way where I can separate each Prince and their abilities/nen beasts better. Great video bro 🤙🏾

Seeing all of this together helped my brain to click... The 14 coffins and the existence of a newborn among the contenders.
Assuming the Succession War is a rigid ritual with a precise number of "players" maybe the king had to sire the 14th prince to allow the whole stuff to start in the first place. So once the 14th was born and the requirements were met... The war became possible. This made me think if there was always a baby amoung the previous wars
It took me nearly a week to reread the manga and understand the whole plot

we have so many Quesitons left: Like if the Nen-Beasts
change their Hosts Aura into another Nen-Type to use them then themselves.
We dont even know this Option exists at all, but it kinda must, must it not? I mean, otherwise, the Unfairness is unparalleled...

so is it using this Type with 100% or 80% Efficiency?!

I think a large part of the 4th prince’s talent with Nen (Not even going to try and spell his name) is do to his sheer drive and motivation to win the war. He obviously has natural talent on par or beyond that of Gon and Killua, which isn’t surprising considering his family’s history. But I think the fact he has been raised for this very war plays a large part in it.
I'm surprised there's going to be a Part 3. The refresher on the Kakin princes was nice. Still sad that Kacho died tho ;w;

This is shaping up to be one of if not the best arc in the series and I'm so excited to see Toagshi continue.
I cannot even begin to tell you how much nicer this is to watch and understand this arc thru this series than it is to actually read it. The manga felt so convoluted with so much dialogue and new characters and nen that it was torture to read

I wonder if the Seed Urn has actually gotten stronger with each generation that has competed in the succession war? The idea that the seed urn was so strong when it was first made seems almost absurd, but a mechanism that makes it get stronger with each new war makes sense within the confines of nen contracts.
I could see the auras of everyone killed being consumed by the seed urn to strengthen each generation.
That probably makes sense. Especially since it collects blood, I’m sure with more prince blood over the years it can make better nen beasts. But it could just be an op ability due to the hunter who made it.
I thought the 14 coffins where just prepared for each prince seperately and labeled with their names. Not that they would all be used, but they were all prepared. Just my thought

@Andres i also thought so, but I have a feeling that it's not just the greed island because some of the other tropes members prophesy didn't happen until later in the manga or didn't happen yet

I feel like the 3rd prince is the most fit for the king role. Just look at King Nasubi's nen beast. Although we don't know what his nen beast can do, just by looking at it, it's not the fighter type beast. It has the characteristics of a "MOTHER". It has breasts which helps the baby grow by giving it nutrition (helping the people/kingdom grow) , and it has huuuuge ears to hear the problems and needs of the people of his empire. And king nasubi is loved by his people. And it is a good thing that the power of the nen beast of zhangle is still not revealed. It makes it more flexible to fit for the narrative. And it is based on Buddhism, which are hardcore pacifist. And i think the nen beast's main purpose is to help the succeeding king to lead the kakin empire not to kill. So i think the prince with the nen beast that represents something good will win the succession contest.
And i know Hulkenberg is also a good choice but as Liam said his future is grim because he is showing a desire to take the king role which gives him a huge target in his back.
Oooooorrr it all doesn't matter because Togashi do what Togashi wanna do.
Each one doesn't just represent the face of the ruler, but the nature of the ruler behind that.
The 3rd is charitable to his people to a near absolutist level and what's behind that?
A ruler that is naive and vulnerable to the sorts of things that makes rulers, and by extension countries, fall.
The current king is exemplified as the kind of king that is very capable but also a very twisted individual and I VERY MUCH DOUBT that his nen beast's true ability is to stop assassination attempts the stopping bullets ways. Remember that a mother can be a caring, nurturing individual, or the person most diabolically able to deconstruct you as a human being from a mental standpoint.
TLDR the 3rd is the kind of king that falls the moment something gets past his pawns and unless he's wise enough to realize that he'll be one of the early-mid eliminations due to excessive trust in those around him.

Talking about Kakin, I'm kinda surprise how Nasubi treat his children. I mean, it seems like he doesn't treat his children differently and almost equally gave them attention. I know the wives and prince's has some sort of ranking/tier, but Nasubi doesn't seem to act as if the youngest are lesser than the oldest prince's, tho still the younger need to respect the oldest.

I don't think the study of nen is a recent phenomenon, as there is ancient script that boosts nen power for example Razor's flunkies used that script to boost their meager abilities
