    The more I learn about Willem Dafoe, the more I respect and appreciate him - he's such a smart and candid man, equally captivating in and out of performance, and truly a great artist. I love him, he might just be my favourite actor.

    This is an inspiring interview for me. Willem Dafoe's love for the art and the idea of losing yourself in something is what really resonated with me. I love this guy! He does it for the challenge, for the hard work that pays off. Maybe he does come off as arrogant at times but there ain't no harm in it. One is allowed to be proud/arrogant when it comes to things that drives the life in him. Absolute delight!
    Thank you Willem!

    So respect Willem Dafoe just an amazing actor, ground person and devoted to his craft. Look forward to seeing "The Florida Project" :) I remember back in the day running into him at his kid's school, "The Little Red School House" on Bleeker St., in NYC :)

    Right on, Willem Dafoe! Specifically from 25:00 to the end. I'm surprised with so much of what he's said here. It's absolutely inspiring. His description of that mysterious engagement that drives people to create. It's astonishing. One of your best interviews. For me anyway.Terrific!

    Earthy dude. Seems like the kind of guy who just wants to go in and get the job done. Focus on the work, that's it. The people who do it for the love of doing it will always have the longest and most rewarding careers.

    He was perfectly cast in this movie. He was made to play the part of Bobby the manager of the motel and more importantly the manager of other people lives around the motel.

    He brings up his love of auteur cinema and directors versus TV projects that aren't as thrilling to him, but now is the perfect time for auteur TV shows. Mr Robot, Atlanta, American Gods, Utopia (cancelled too soon), True Detective, The Knick, and Breaking Bad, are shows that could be right up his alley.

      It's the form he doesn't like. TV allows for easier storytelling because of how much longer it is. All those shows except TD (haven't seen AG) pretty much fall into the way too long category. And even TD could've just been a movie.

      Messofanego - You totally missed his point. He does not like the "long form" of TV because it lacks the "punchiness" of movies. Moreover, he mentioned that we need more people like Pasolini, so how do you expect that he would be interested in any of the titles in your list?

    Big fan of A24 and really wanted to like this film but I didn't. Those annoying spoiled kids never shut up and the storyline goes nowhere. It's a grotesque portrayal of America at its lowest. Don't waste your time or money!

    • @offthecufff
      @offthecufff 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      neogeoriffic explain to me what the hell you mean by "spoiled" and I feel like you missed the entire point of the movie because it really is supposed to showcase that grotesque portrayal of America at it's lowest and bring to light that these types of people and places exist in America and wants to highlight the authenticity and humanity of this part of America. Did we even watch the same movie?

    Is it me or does he come across annoyed at everything or kinda arrogant? I could be wrong though

    • @DaveNoodles
      @DaveNoodles 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'm only halfway through the interview, but so far he strikes me as a very sympathetic dude. What made you feel that way?

    • @TheBadLiutenant
      @TheBadLiutenant 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I kinda see what you mean, it's like he does not quite see eye to eye with David which is fine, everyone's different, but the way he is expressing himself is of a strong individuality which could seem contrary to what he is saying about losing himself in what he does (a personal paradox that could be quite truthful and is worth investigating for everyone) and I think that could make him appear arrogant and annoyed. He strikes me too as fairly sympathetic though.

    • @northofyou33
      @northofyou33 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, he doesn't seem arrogant to me at all. He seems like he may be a bit sardonic in general, which is something that can be at the heart of a creative drive. But mostly, he strikes me as thoughtful and kind.

    • @cindycox218
      @cindycox218 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, I don't get either sentiment from him. He's kind and just trying to convey his perspective in words that accurately convey what he's trying to convey.

    • @offthecufff
      @offthecufff 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i feel like he's just trying to get his point across
