YES!!! Before it rains or cold weathers happens i feel it then a few days later I feel better great back to normal. Heat pads and Vicks helps a lot. Brink alot of water too. Thanks you Dr Mandell.
Bella Rose HAHA me too!! My kidos laugh, they're like "Mama is it going to rain today?" LOL they ask as soon as i wake up, so far ive always been right!! LOL
I live in Northern California along the coast it the barometric pressure changes with the weather almost daily. When it cold, wet and rainy, my entire body and brain hurts. My cognitive function goes straight out the window, my muscles and joints all hurt way more, and my asthma returns. As soon as the sun and heat return and the weather clears and dries, I feel like a million bucks! It's a serious night and day difference. Im contemplating moving to a climate more consistent with dry, warm weather. I feel it's crazy that this isn't more common. I've had multiple doctors and no agrees with me when I say how sensitive I am to weather changes.
Interesting. I come from Sweden. So with that being said, im used to very cold temperatures. But i only feel bad during the beginning of spring. When the pressure is low and the humidity is low is when i cant breathe through my sinuses due too dryness and my body starts aching like crazy. I wonder why for me its only during spring when its dry and no other time when it rains or snows.
I can predict the day before and I get relief from the stiffness and pain soon as the rain comes. But on days when the rain keeps stopping and starting the pain returns.
@@donkihotes4816 I got some Dr. Teals Epsom salt for aches and pains. I’ll usually soak in a hot bath for a while for some relief. It doesn’t always keep the pain away, that’s when you’ll break out the old Advil or Aleve. Heating pad for the area is good. Hope this helps! I’m currently going through the pain myself and found this video 😅
This is so enlightening. I had an accident 3 weeks ago & broke my wrist badly, there’s severe thunderstorms that came in today & I swear as soon the sky was getting really dark & the rain came my arm inside my cast started killing me. Even my fingers, they took a severe beating. Still can’t feel or bend my middle & index finger fully.
Thanks doctor. I’ve fractured radius/ulna, patella & ankle. (All different accidents) and had ORIF at all 3 locations. This helps me understand why I’m in agony the day before the rain comes. Thank you!!!!!
Im 47. I had an infiltrative cancer removed from the top of my head 2.5 weeks ago. I live on the east coast and We are in hurricane season. In fact, a hurricane is passing by us now. For 2 days, my head has been more painful and the pressure on my head and ears is unbelievable. I also have arthritis and I feel the pressure/inflammation in every joint and bone I have. I've tried to explain this to my husband. I'm not sure he understands.... but this video tells it just the way it truly is !! Pay attention to time :39 - :54
Broke my ankle in 3 places 6 months ago. Had to have surgery. It started hurting really bad yesterday out of nowhere. And then it rained today. I heard somewhere that people with chronic pain could predict the weather but I thought it was a myth or a joke. Ive always loved the rain, but i guess now it will come with pain.
I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma last year. I’ve learned some about barometric pressure and asthma. I have really noticed how I may have an asthma attack when barometric pressure drops. I have Covid right now and the other night we had a barometric drop and I woke up with very scary asthma attacks! I put it together later that day. I also learned that evening that a teacher friend (healthy as far as we knew…it her forties), died in her sleep! They were assuming heart attack, but I don’t know cause yet. But nonetheless, I remember reading that there are more heart attacks (probably strokes too??) when there is a drop in pressure! I wonder if there IS something to take (aspirin, etc..) when there is going to be a drop??
Does this cause lightheadedness, dizziness and brain fog? I live in a hilly area and its monsoon now plus whenever it is rainy with dense clouds these symptoms of dizziness, and pains start.
Solutions... Move to sunnier climate or, do as I do...think to yourself saying these lines (while tapping your shoes together), 'There's no place like home,' 'There's no place like home,' 'There's no place like home'
What can we do while its happening for relief? I hate teking meds but this morning I did because the pain was so bad. I'm fasting too to see if that helps.
I never even got to wear any summer clothes. There's two months in Maine, July and Winter. I'm allergic to mold and mildew, black water and serial killers.
THANK YOU! I could not figure out why my entire body hurt, but especially my legs (not necessarily my joints). From the waist down I felt like my bones were in a vice, and stayed under my electric blanket most of the day. I have a lot of leftover flares of autoimmune diseases and fibro from breast implant illness. My legs began to ache after my 4th major surgery within 10 months, when I also contracted a potentially deadly bacterial infection from the hospital. I had leg aches growing up through my 20s, and the aching went away, and it came back 3 years ago during the day, of all things. When it’s going to rain, I’m in so much discomfort I cry. 🥲 I just figured out this today, and then you showed up! 🙏💫
So you're saying that there is pain only while the change is taking place, and if it stays high, so long as it doesn't continue to fluctuation, the pain should then go back to baseline?
I think I must be the only person who experiences the uncomfortable "squeeze" from the high pressure days as if my whole body is in a blood pressure cuff. I seem to thrive in the 29.4 to 29.6 area. Any higher and I'm extremely uncomfortable. Like right now, pressure is 30 inHg. My veins are all popped up and I feel like I'm being squeezed. Lower than 29.4 and I get aches.
I don’t think you’re the only person. I did a pain meditation today because I was crying because I hurt so much, and I had to picture a symbol for my pain. It was a vice squeezing my legs. It feels like it’s in my bones.
@@Tinyteacher1111 Yes! That's what the worst ones feel like. Especially when the change is a significant quick rise. I'm sorry anyone else has to go through that. 🥺 Buy it's nice to know I'm not alone. Very hard to find things on high pressure sensitivity. Or just general air pressure sensitivity. It's all low.
My ear block and the pain inside my ear is unbearable. As a child of 10 on my first flight I discovered this. It got worse as I got older Some countries I visited the pain would stay for a day after landing. This video and other comments really helps connect the dots.
Its better to live closer to sea level where the pressure is higher. Ever notice how great you feel near the beach and how happy everybody is? Theres a reason for that as people are in less pain and feeling better.
My husband has pain in his calf. It worsens in wet weather. He had neuropathy due to his back. Multiple surgeries. Tonight for example is bad for him. When I was in 4th grade I fell on a parking lot and got a rock under my knee cap. Unbelievable pain getting my knee drained a few times. Afterwards in the winter, I would get up at night and lay in front of the heat register and pray for the heat to come on. Now I wrap an electric blanket around my knee and pretty much bake it. It does help. Ibuprofen helps. Now I have lower back pain on cold nights and the heating pad gets cranked up 3 or 4 times a night. My Chiropractor (if you can find a good one) can relieve my knee pain as well as my back pain temporarily.

I can totally vouch for this as being absolutely true! I always joke that my super power is predicting the weather! lol

What's the way out?
Hehe, same here. I can predict the weather because my back pain worsens during heavy clouds or rain.

Warm, sunny weather at the coast- Mombasa, Diani, Kilifi, Malindi...
I can feel pain 1 week before it rains and in the news there's no rain in sight but it goes away when it rains
I can predict the day before and I get relief from the stiffness and pain soon as the rain comes.
But on days when the rain keeps stopping and starting the pain returns.
Guys I am the same! How you help yourself in this? I am always in pain couple days before the rains to start!

I had a severe broken ankle that was a compound fracture 30 years ago in the cold rainy weather it literally feels like it's broken all over again

What’s ORIF?
thank you so much for the information doctor, always wondering why im feeling pain on my foot joints during monsoon season.
So how do we combat the drop in barometric pressure? What can we synthesize or naturally extract to combat this symptom?
My question, too. I'm going to fast today to see if that helps.
Thank you ,I finally understand barometric pressure and why I hurt so bad before rain
Good video. Explains a lot concerning my temporary physical aches & pains.

the moon does have a gravitational pull that affects us.

I feel happier in the plane, in the lower pressure.

Hurt terrible 😢 I’m right now 3days I’m shaking feel like I have fever I can’t woke so weak
I felt that way today! I understand it now. How horrible!
If one has knee pain, is it better to live in city 5,000+ feet above sea level or closer to sea level.
Its better to live closer to sea level where the pressure is higher. Ever notice how great you feel near the beach and how happy everybody is? Theres a reason for that as people are in less pain and feeling better.
I live at 6000 ft, and I belive the elevation makes it worse. Lower elevation = both higher barometric pressure AND more oxygen.
100% Accurate!
What is normal barometric pressure ?
thanks
