How to Draw Atmospheric Perspective Step by Step

- Hello everyone,
In today's lesson, we dive into atmospheric perspective, what it is, and how you can achieve it with just a pencil. This is one of those skills that will take some time to master because several things have to happen first such as the layout and patience with layering your graphite. Drawing is incredibly therapeutic and when you can achieve depth in your art, it creates so much more feeling and richness than a flat-feeling sketch could. Follow along with me and let me know in the comments how your art journey is going. I read EVERYTHING and take suggestions for future videos. I appreciate you.

Paper + pencil = magic. Something computers fail at. Sometimes I can sit and look at pencil art for days admiring it.
❤true but I also love drawing with my iPad and an Apple Pencil. There are great apps these days that really capture my pencil drawings essence very well
I want to write a lot about how good your content is. Unlike many others, you deal with specific problems that arise for beginners , including me). It was thanks to your videos that I was able to slightly improve the application of shading ( to be more precise, thanks to the video about teeth ) but this video also provides a lot of interesting techniques that I look forward to trying out. Thank you for art .
As an idea, I propose to disassemble any of the initial stages of the drawing.
I’ve been bingeing on all your videos thanks so much for sharing your incredible talent. The bits of wisdom you include have helped me draw so much better in a short time. Congratulations on all your work
Every single video you upload is of the highest quality, no other artist on this platform matches your mastery. It is a shame that many of your videos are only seen by a fraction of how many people watch your most popular ones. However, I am happy to see that every single fan adores your work as much as I do. I've never had this much of an inclination to leave comments on a channel before, so I really appreciate that you took notice of a previous comment I left. I really look forward to seeing your channel continue growing!
Folks, sharpen your pencils! ❤
Hi again draw sessions, very good video this one, I have the doubt of how to draw young female skin and hair
Thank you! Drawing hair is actually next on the list.
I’m so amazed by your art skills. Thank u so much for the advices
You are so welcome!
This is just cool, I really needed some pencil techniques that go a bit further, gave me some new impulses.
I’m a little late but how would you draw space? Like planets and far away stars? I have trouble because it’s so dark I would love your opinion
You inspired me!!!! ❤❤ Your drawing skills is incredible! Thank you so much for sharing. Appreciate it!
Thank you so much 😀
Yay! That's exactly what we asked for! =D
(still, boobies would rock too)
This mf is reaaaaal underrated. You are great man
I love your videos man, I've learned so much frm your explanations along with your amazing artwork to show what your talking about ❤
Glad to hear it!
Would the same rules apply if you were doing a snowy type of environment with snowfall?
It would but you would need to use the natural white of the paper for most of the snow.
Hi. Jim from Madrid, Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad).
Another great video. I had to watch this video slowing it down (speed in TH-cam settings) and stopping a lot to analyze and understand your strokes and shading, not only for the small piece you showed us, but also for the rest of your composition... how the creature fades away in the background but keeps it's shape without blending with the rest if the further away background, slightly hinted but recognizable...
And... the Iguana with its shell or I don't know how to call it is really good (with its shell full if protective spikes!)...
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and for helping us improve!
Cheers from Sunny Spain!
😁👍😎✌
Sry to ask another question, are you on Instagram as well? Bigfoot rules
I sure am!
for the algo
I love the tutorial. Again my friend your content is one of a kind. Nicely done on the atmospheric conditions. Let's hope for bigfoot next time around, with long hair.
pure pro
Looking forward to some creepy stuff! I kept glancing at the demon book mid video and here you we go.
Love your videos. Composition! I really love how everything was laid out in this video for the drawing. Your thoughts on how you organize compositions would be very insightful.
Glad I saved this video for another time, so my weekend started with me feeling spoiled, haha. This was a treat and your explanations were really helpful! I love the idea of giving the iguana a shell! If the whole creature were a lot bigger it could be straight out of one of the Monster Hunter games. Thank you for sharing your precious time with us! 🙏
I just recently got back into using pencil. I've been looking at your videos for about a week now and am learning a lot. I've been doing digital for... waaaaay too long now and I needed to get back to the traditional stuff. Missed the smell of pencil and the feel of paper. Nothing like it for me.
YAY! Can't wait until I can get home and watch this one. Thanks for the video, as always!
i often tend to over complicating my shading alot 😅, since i'm focusing in only one area for too long and overly enjoyed it untill i realized that i have gone too much 😂
I’m starting to get back into sketching seriously thanks to your videos, these drawing how to’s are so helpful!
The illustration was super nice and I would like to learn more
Dude your stuff makes me so happy I just enjoy so seeing your process
this is sooo awesome i love this technique and the illustration
Dudeee, that piece looks sickk
It's motivating me to get better💪
Two in one week……you spoil us ❤❤❤…and yay to more creatures. One thing I think you might wanna check is how often your ads are running? Too many could lose you viewers and for this twenty odd min video I’ve had four interruptions already, which is quite intrusive, not sure if you need to tweak the settings or if that is intentional or not, but it can be off putting.
I just let AdSense pick the spot. I will look into it. Thanks!
Wonderful as always
Beautiful shade
Nice! I'm curious, how long does it take you to finish a draw like this?
These types of drawings will run 6-10 hours.
its so beautiful ! how long did it take you to become this level at drawing?
39 years🙂
