Dude, getting an alpha shiny from an outbreak feels great; but what's better is when it's a female Combee. I about died. She's the High Queen; getting her some shiny male worker Combee. 😏

Unrelated, but I was wandering around when I was doing a horde last night, thinking "man, I always see Austin John get all these random shinies, some guys get all the luc- *shiny sound*" random Shiny Clefairy from remembering to check the area before resetting it. And when I went back to my horde, I found not 1, but 2 shiny Gibles! Thanks for all your vids, man!
Thats why i always prepare to throw a second ball any time i see the first one do that triple bounce. Sometimes it wastes a ball when they actually do catch, but if it doesnt catch them, as long as you throw the second ball like a short moment after that third bounce (judging for distance also) you will instantly recatch any pokemon that fails the first ball. Austin did this in one of his first videos showing how to catch the flying togepi evolution. This works on every pokemon you try to catch, you just have to be a good distance away and throw it at the right time.
There's actually a telegraph when there's a chance that the catch will fail. There are two different hop animations in this game that a pokeball makes when it hits a wild pokemon, a short hop and a tall hop. The short hop always means the catch is a success, but the tall hop is a sign that there's a least a 50% chance the pokemon will break free. Always prepare a second ball or retreat if you see the second animation depending on if your target runs or fights after a failed capture and your repeat attempts will go much smoother.
Here's something I've discovered that I'm not sure if you know about! If you have an outbreak and you get a shiny or an alpha in the first 4, catch it from a distance without triggering the prompt saying you found the outbreak, then go back to camp and you can then do the reset without losing that pokemon. I've been doing this to get multiple shinies from an outbreak, and it seems to work fine!
So say I found the shiny with first 4, you’re saying I should go back to the village and then leave there and go back to the same outbreak and it’ll show up again? Wouldn’t it just deactivate the outbreak over time? I lost an outbreak because I didn’t get the prompt and left and went to a new area and that outbreak was gone.
@@BLZRDD there's a chance that it will change, turn off auto saves and save in the camp before you go back to town. It's the same principle taught in Austin John Plays video on outbreak shiny hunting

Man, I got all 3 of the Alpha Pokemon (Pikachu, Kadabra in space time distortions and Burmy - Got them all today too) that you are trying to find and mentioned in your video. I've been following your videos from the moment I got a Switch and boy are they fun to watch and informative.
I was gunna mention this a while ago not seeing shiny pokemon but running when you throw a pokemon for materials.. it seems alot of pokemon players never played an open world rpg and don't understand how those few seconds can add up big time
Just wanted to say thanks for a lot of your videos but this one in particular. Gen 4 were my favourite games growing up. When legends came out, it was a real moment for the pokemon fan base. I loved shiny hunting in it and when the possibility of getting all gen 4 mons shiny via legends became an achievable goal I wanted it to be my first shiny living dex for a region. I managed to Sr for arceus and shaymin this year but of all things burmy was the most difficult to hunt. I headbutted trees endlessly for months and finally in may I came across a shiny cherrim. Then within a day a shiny wormadam. And only 40 minutes after wormadam I encountered a shiny male burmy which I then duplicated using this method. Still I needed two females for the whole family. More motivated than ever and thanks to the realization that it was possible. I managed to encounter a female two weeks after. I know it's not the most exciting evolutionary line in pokemon but thanks to your help I managed to get a step closer to complete my sinnoh shiny living dex. Will still be a bit of time before getting manaphy has a reasonable way of obtaining it. But still one step closer.
I find it hilarious that I seem to have the exact opposite problem from you: I find alphas left and right with no issue, but shinies seem to be much harder to come by. Like, can we trade luck? Because every Pokémon you mentioned you were looking for, I already have MULTIPLE alphas for them…but those are all still ones I need shinies of XD
"you're an adult" see this is when you know that Legend Arceus isn't meant for kids because of one, the extensive amount of time it takes, two, it just gives you anxiety with a damn Paras literally being on your ass. I'm doing an alpha dex and take advantage of outbreaks my personal most annoying pokemon to hunt are the water ones and Barbroch in particular cause I hardly see them and being in the water can be kinda hard to tell if someone them are Alpha or just see in general
I'm so abusing this just for normal Aipom for absolute completion. Going for 15 Aipom out of trees is so stupid when there's only 2 trees! Thanks a ton. :D (I don't like rezoning because it makes you find way too many Pokemon, which makes Shinies even more way too common... Not complaining about the ones I found that aren't the Male Combee though... Except maybe the Alpha Walrein I found today because I love it but it's too late to use it to complete the Dex page because it's already complete. :/)
I got a shiny pachirisu the other day! I did a few more things then went into the cave and caught myself 2 more! Congrats on your alpha shiny Cherim! I love that happy, dancing pokemon, lol. Johto event kinda sucks this year. I found the Kanto event to be much better.
shinies feel so much easier to get in this game. I've never gotten a shiny in past games but i currently have two in arceus, a shiny ponyta from the guaranteed shiny request and a buneary while i was looking for pokémon in trees
update for this now that Home can work with Legends, you CAN bring all the duplicated pokemon to Home with no problem. i got a shiny burmy and duplicated it 12 times and each one works with Home perfectly fine

I feel you brother, I ended up with 5 shiny Gibles (4 from outbreaks and, to add "insult" to injury, 1 as a random spawn) before I got my alpha. Did the cave method to get my alpha Gible, but man, once you want a specific alpha, the games just KNOWS, and just doesn't feel like spawning the bastard.
Me with Scyther outbreaks! Took me almost two hours to get the outbreak, and only 15 or so minutes to get the shiny! I just need to find an Augurite now!
If you don't know if you battle a pokemon with a burmy in Pokémon Legends Arceus for example Leaf cloak burmy battles a Pokémon in the crimson mirelands if you win or run away with the burmy being the pokemon out it changes form to rock cloak burmy So Leaf cloak + mirelands = rock cloak Or highlands You can just change it depending on what burmy are there as long as its not fainted it will change cloak sadly it doesn't work with wormadam
You’ll know that the Pokémon coming out is shiny because the sound effect will play before it bursts out. I know from experience when I got my shiny Wormadam(Plant Cloak).
I only have, and have seen, one Weavile. I was in an outbreak and it spawned in front of me as I was throwing at something else. Back strike caught it, didn't even know it is Alpha until reporting to the Professor later. Hope you find yours soon Austin!
This story doesn't add up. Weavile is only present in distortions. They are special spawns which means they only spawn in certain locations. Now, I don't know if it is possible for an outbreak and distortion to overlap, I'm guessing no. But, it definitely doesn't seem possible for it to spawn in front of you ad you throw at something else because that's not how they spawn in. I guess with the only possible way I can think for this to happen is if you were throwing the pokeball right as the distortion started but, even then I am pretty confident that the pokemon have a slight delay of spawning in after the pokemon from before the distortion despawn.
I was running around Coronet Highlands and one of the Roselia was a random alpha and then immediately after the Badoo I found was a shiny alpha and it's my first shiny alpha and I love it, I named her Gorp and I'm never evolving her cuz she's just too cute with the little purple bib

I got Sandy Cloak Wormadam last night, like 24 hours ago, and now I see this xD I like the other two versions but Sandy just looks... meh... All three of their shinies are so basic anyway, Mothim definitely got the love in that line.
So last night, I found a shiny Riolu and caught it. Didn’t finish the outbreak, I went back to Jubilife and came back to the outbreak to see if I can get another shiny. Low and behold, it worked. So I’m going to start testing this to see if that’s another duplication method or just luck on my part. I’m sure it’s just luck, but I think it’s sort of like a chain type thing for multiple of the same.
While watching this video I was hunting for a shiny buneary in a mass outbreak and got it on my first rezone and I just have to share that cause it's been one of my dream shinies ever since I was a kid, pink pokemon hit different
The fact that I'm using this trick not to shiny hunt or alpha hunt, but the fact that Aipom and Bonsai are the most difficult ones to spawn in the tress and ores and I need to perfect their Dex. lol
While doing Alpha hunting i've realized that Pokemon that change with the day cycle can also change while keep being alphas. That means that a Alpha starly will be substituted by a normal drifloon at night but the Pokemon that will return at the morning will be an Alpha.
Question : Is it possible that Nintendo know that this specific game / Switch console belong to You Mr. John Austin, and somehow increase drop rate of Alpha / Shiny Pokemon for their benefit / advertisement purpose, to increase sell of Pokemon Legends Arcesus or Nintendo Switch console ? Do You have the same result on all of Your consoles / accounts / games ? Or this amount of Shiny / Alpha Pokemon drop is direct result because of You have 3 copy of the game and therefore You have 3x more chances of encounter those rear Pocket Monsters ? I used your outbreak shiny hunting method and within 4 resets had a shiny alpha golduck appear couldnt believe ot!
I tried it with a pikachu outbreak and got three in a single one after 2 resets!
For those wondering, this still works as of 1.1.1! Using this I was able to get an Alpha Burmy...and it was male. I was going for a trio of Wormadam.

Shinys are much easier to find I found a shiny alpha tangrowth in the crimson mirelands and I wasn’t shiny hunting so that nice I guess

Got my first alpha shiny yesterday in a snover outbreak. It was rough, but I caught it, and anything else I could, then flew away like the wind.
You’ll know that the Pokémon coming out is shiny because the sound effect will play before it bursts out. I know from experience when I got my shiny Wormadam(Plant Cloak).

I only have, and have seen, one Weavile. I was in an outbreak and it spawned in front of me as I was throwing at something else. Back strike caught it, didn't even know it is Alpha until reporting to the Professor later. Hope you find yours soon Austin!
This story doesn't add up.
Weavile is only present in distortions. They are special spawns which means they only spawn in certain locations. Now, I don't know if it is possible for an outbreak and distortion to overlap, I'm guessing no. But, it definitely doesn't seem possible for it to spawn in front of you ad you throw at something else because that's not how they spawn in. I guess with the only possible way I can think for this to happen is if you were throwing the pokeball right as the distortion started but, even then I am pretty confident that the pokemon have a slight delay of spawning in after the pokemon from before the distortion despawn.

@Joe Lucas I considered this, but it still seems unlikely because of how rare spawns work. That was the reason for the last part of my comment.

I was running around Coronet Highlands and one of the Roselia was a random alpha and then immediately after the Badoo I found was a shiny alpha and it's my first shiny alpha and I love it, I named her Gorp and I'm never evolving her cuz she's just too cute with the little purple bib

I feel you on the bonkers shiny odds. I've gotten seven different shinies from the Shinx line without even trying.
So last night, I found a shiny Riolu and caught it. Didn’t finish the outbreak, I went back to Jubilife and came back to the outbreak to see if I can get another shiny. Low and behold, it worked. So I’m going to start testing this to see if that’s another duplication method or just luck on my part. I’m sure it’s just luck, but I think it’s sort of like a chain type thing for multiple of the same.
While watching this video I was hunting for a shiny buneary in a mass outbreak and got it on my first rezone and I just have to share that cause it's been one of my dream shinies ever since I was a kid, pink pokemon hit different

The fact that I'm using this trick not to shiny hunt or alpha hunt, but the fact that Aipom and Bonsai are the most difficult ones to spawn in the tress and ores and I need to perfect their Dex. lol

While doing Alpha hunting i've realized that Pokemon that change with the day cycle can also change while keep being alphas. That means that a Alpha starly will be substituted by a normal drifloon at night but the Pokemon that will return at the morning will be an Alpha.

Question : Is it possible that Nintendo know that this specific game / Switch console belong to You Mr. John Austin, and somehow increase drop rate of Alpha / Shiny Pokemon for their benefit / advertisement purpose, to increase sell of Pokemon Legends Arcesus or Nintendo Switch console ? Do You have the same result on all of Your consoles / accounts / games ? Or this amount of Shiny / Alpha Pokemon drop is direct result because of You have 3 copy of the game and therefore You have 3x more chances of encounter those rear Pocket Monsters ?
