I grew up in a 3 bed 1 bath home. 8 kids and 2 parents! It was a good childhood!
I also grew up in a 3 bed, 1 bath home. 7 kids + 2 parents. We somehow made it work. I had a great childhood too! 🙂
It’s so refreshing to see a normal house! We live in 1000 sq ft with 3 kids and praying for more. Ppl think we are crazy but we love our small space!
I found your channel back when you were remodeling your kitchen and watch every video. You and Marion have been truly blessed and should be VERY proud of how beautiful your home is. Hard work pays off and it shows.
Bigger isn’t always better. Your home is warm and cozy. We lived in a smaller stick built ranch built by my father. Three bedrooms, one bath, kitchen dining room and living room. Plenty of outdoor space to play. It was my sister and I until my brother was born when I was 14. We made it all work too.
I love this home it’s so warm and comfy .It screams love .
I love your home. As missionaries in the Amazon jungle among the indigenous peoples, we raised our children in a small mud hut with palm roof and cement floors. All 4 of them are now adults and have great memories from their childhood days. Big houses are over rated😊

We had a couple in out town who were missionaries in the Amazon and she wrote a wonderful book her their time there. I let someone barrow my book yrs ago and never got it back. I wish I still had it. Her and her husband were precious and spoke at many of our meetings at church. I think there last name was Garrett maybe. This was back in the 80s that I met them.
We arrived in 85 in the Amazon of Venezuela. We are still missionaries in Paraguay. We spent 24 yrs and now have been here in Paraguay for 15 yrs. I have a book in the works, but it will be a while!

I myself am a widow myself, lost my husband 6 years ago, 14th of March this year to a farm murder. My 2 sons are abroad in the US, married with their own lives, I am stuck here alone. But through the grace of God I am couping and surviving. Love you lots.

Love grows best in small houses, I have always loved that saying. Our first home was a 2 bedroom 1.5 bathroom 2 story home. Both bedrooms and a half bath were upstairs. It was about 875sq ft of living space with no closets on the first floor and a crappy basement that occasionally leaked water. We were young and we made it work for us. We had 2 children ( boy & a girl) that shared a room. It was tight at times but it was cozy. We sold it years ago, upgraded to a 4 bedroom. I enjoy the extra space but there are days that I miss that little house and all the work we put into it. It was so much easier to heat, taxes were cheaper and I learned how to be creative about storage solutions. I daydream about downsizing again to a place in the country without neighbors on top of each other. The cost of Real Estate these days is what keeps us here, our mortgage is cheaper than rent around here.

🏠Arika, I think you've mentioned before wanting to free counter space (?). For the microwave, maybe build a shelf (Marion :o) to the left of the cabinets and countertop (where micro is now). Would you still be able to open drawers and cabinets? And install a paper towel holder on the side of the white cabinet (above your air fryer). Do you think you'd like a runner rug for the back door, so doggy and traffic dirt/slush is more contained? Walmart has some solid color runners, rubber backing/no slip, fairly cheap. (I've laundered mine many times; they hold up well). Love how the doggies do the tour with you. Your furbabies make your home extra cozy! 🐕💖😺
Erika in your living room behind your front door you could buy a shoe rack from Ross to put your shoes on in place of a sit down bench it shouldn’t take up a lot of space just an idea. Nice tour of your home
I raise 3 kids one daughter and 2 sons hubby and I pick 990 square foot home we too only had one bathroom we had full basement that we made into a Landry room , family room and plus one bedroom once my son because a teenager. lol We live in there for 38 years. We made it work. I love your home.

We had our porch enclosed also. It turned out beautiful. It’s not very big , but it’s big enouytjT we fit a3 piece patio set that was gifted to us and my husband put up shelves and I just bought a slim sofa table at an antique shop that I just love. I only decorate this room for the holidays.😊
Use the same door just put cut in the middle and add screen to it that would be so cute

We lived in a 1200 square foot house for a long time. I loved it. I could plug into an outlet and vacuum the whole house. We still own that house but my SIL is living there.

I was one of five children, so there were seven of us sharing one bathroom. It got hairy at times, but in the end we all made it work.
We had 9 sharing 1 bathroom... Like u said, we somehow made it work.

I’m new to your channel, I love your home. I have an older home built in 1959. It’s my Husband’s childhood home and we bought it from his parents 36 years ago. 3 bedroom 2 baths. Originally 1000 sq ft. We raised two Son’s ( one still lives here). I never imagined we would live here long term however now I am glad we never moved into a bigger home. It’s just comfortable and easy to clean. I’m just grateful for what I have. ❤
Planning to retire next year. If I could find a house like this…I would love it! TFS

Hi, Arika, instead of moving the washer and dryer, and all that plumbing, you could make the opening into the room wider by cutting into the kitchen wall. Just a thought.
I would like to do that but that wall is a supporting wall and it’s made of cinder block. So we can’t cut into it.😩

As always, I absolutely love your home! Older homes are my favorite too. So much more character. Our home was built in 1950, we've lived here almost 30 years and raised our blended family of 6 kids here. And thanks for always sharing a scripture ❤

😺 Put a wall scratcher where Clyde scratches at pantry entry. They need to sharpen their claws. Clyde must be a vertical scratcher. Also buy some sisal rope to renew scratchers under their window seat. It's important we catify our homes. Cat toys and playtime, too, so he can expend energy. 💖 I love older homes, too, and adore the layout and coziness of your home. So lovely, Arika. 🌺🎶🐦🙏

Love your home so cozy and warm! So many nice diy’s you have done and made it your own. Love the new boho farmhouse/bedroom. Can I make a suggestion? Maybe turn down sheet and bed spread or roll it kinda like a hotel bed have it turned down. That will break up the green of both bed spread and pillow and show a little white (are your sheets white or maybe another color?) and it will highlight your new pillow shams nicely, maybe add a small accent boho pillow in front of both green pillow shams pillow.
I just realized you already have an accent pillow on the bed. Perfect!

Beautiful home. I was just wondering why you didn't carry the pantry floor out through the kitchen. I think it would look so nice and would flow. Also, I'd put some over sized pillow behind the pillows on the bed.

Have you thought about stackable washer and dryer? And putting them in the pantry area that way you can knock down the wall that is your laundry room to add more space to you kitchen?

I grew up in a 6 bedroom 3 bath house but I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers. My sisters and I shared one bedroom because we wanted to be together, thankfully it was big enough for two beds so 2 to a bed. Today we are all extremely close, the spouses call us the clan and that’s ok with us. I love your beautiful home Erika it’s so cozy and inviting

I grew up in a two bedroom home with 5 kids, and my parents, we were so close, no I have a condo with 2200 sq ft and it’s just the two of us,
You have nice, clean cozy home.
Your home reminds me of our first. It was built in the 1950s, 950 sqft. I loved it!!! It had a lot of storage for a little house and the basement was great. We now live in a 1400sqft home and it has no storage at all and a Michigan dirt basement. I don’t always get a chance to comment but I love your videos ❤️

I have seen most of these updates you showed, it all looks so good! Talking about Clyde scratching up the door frame, maybe Marion could build a board covered with sisel to lay against the door frame so when he stretches up on it and scratches it wont hurt the doorframe. Otherwise its just extra character and Clydes touch to the decor 😊

New here. Your home is very nice. Tastefully decorated. The colors are perfect. Cats can be very destructive. My daughter just got a beautiful leather sofa. The one cat has clawed up the arm of it in one week.

I never realized how many things Marion did for your decor, it is amazing, he does beautiful work! I love how you make the best of what you have and don't have to have everything brand new. Arika, your house has gone through so many changes since I've been watching you. The first video I seen was where you were changing your kitchen countertop from one color of floor tile to another color of floor tile. You have created a beautiful home. I hope when you start fixing up the basement you include us to watch the process.
