    Looooove how thorough your reviews are - which is why I can’t wait for your backpack to be made! The black on black is great on this bag, so military can wear it, but I do see the main compartment being a pain. Sort of why I donated my AER tech bag….it had no give….a little too tight.

      Oh man, glad he reviewed the cordura. I bought the first gen with the previous material, and then bought the new cordura version for my GF. We can't stand the Cordura. It picks up dirt, lint, hair, etc so easily and always looks dirty. Extremely disappointed. Probably won't buy anything from black ember anymore. FYI i also own the modular from a few years ago. I just got this bag today the materials and craftmanships are top notch. The tech compartment is a great idea but in practice its very limited in things that you can put in there. The pockets are quite small and not very deep. Practically you could only put a few very thin gadgets and cables and thats it.
    As for the other compartments its quite spacious especially the front pocket. You could put tons of stuff in there. Even a text book and some extras.
    One compartment that I find unreasonably large is the laptop compartment. Its a full 3 inches thick of space just for the main laptop. I could literally fit not one but THREE Macbook airs in there. Plus an ipad on the front laptop compartment. Its just crazy. I would prefer them to make it accupy just half the thickness and leave more space in the middle of the bag so I could pack more clothes and stuffs.

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great points! As for the laptop, I think it's that size so it would be able to fit multiple sized laptops including bulky 17 inch laptops.

  • @Youknowthebo

    Great review. I love Blackember, but just like on the tks sling I did not like the tech accordion pocket. To me it felt very specific on what you can load inside eg. Apple products that are slim (airpods, magic mouse). Anything thicker does have problems in my experience. Other than that I really like the bag.

Hey, Aaron, can you take this 18L backpack and fix a couple of things on it (that you noted here) and then use that as the model for the pack you are creating? I wouldn't mind if you had some colors other than black and some kind of external bottle pocket, too. Do you know if they even still make this bag? For the past few months on the site this bag has been sold out and it isn’t even listed under the collections they sell. It seems odd for a company to release such a hyped up bag then stop production a little under a year after its initial release. I just bought a new Firge since I was happy with an older backpack of this brand, but ibstead if the model shown in pictures, which was in a gummy fabric finish like the other one I use, it came completely different. I asked to exchange it since it is not compliant to the sales page images, and they said they changed the fabric and that’s it. But if you buy on line you trust the pics and its not fair to send a different product. I loved my old one I gave my boyfriend and now I am just disappointed. Its not right to be sent a different product and be ignored, like it was my fault for their mistakes.
    I am not happy, feels like a scam.

    When I see this bag I think one thing.... how its possible that a moderndayfare backpack suppose to be less big in litres... in the modern dayfarer you can put this backpack 🤣 otherwise I love the tech compartment inside a backpack but I hate the water bottle inside the backpack... in this I will hate it ! Its under the tech compartment it's impossible to drink something when you walk around a big city

      I've seen comments that the Black Ember 22 and 26 are actually smaller in volume than the name/website claims. I think someone said that the Shadow 26 is more like a 20-22 L bag.

    Great review site. Bad product. I ordered a Black Ember bag. It arrived with the strap clasp backwards and broken. I sent photos to them, along with a request for an exchange or refund. They literally have ignored me after 7 emails and 3 VMs for them. The website says all returns have to be pre-approved by them via email first. So, I am following their instructions, but crickets from them in response. Bad enough they sent a new product with a major defect, and even worse that they will not make it right. I now have to open a claim with my credit card company, and they say they'll contact Black Ember for me. Buyers, beware. Save yourself the grief, and buy a bag elsewhere.

    I'm loving this bag, I really need yall to go get a 17in laptop or a piece of wood and cut it down to a 17in laptop size so I can see how how snug of a fit it is lol. If I could have a smaller laptop I would but it's what they issued me :/ #firstworldproblems

    It seems so boring, design-wise. This looks like the design of someone who heard about 100 backpacks but had never seen one in real life. It seems so archetypally boring.

      I think I can agree with you aesthetically - it’s sort of a basic looking black urban pack. But I disagree from a UX perspective. It feels very fun/different/interesting to use day in day out

      Most of weather-proof bags are boring in design: less stitches to seal, less places where water can stay. This bag literally may keep things dry for hours under very heavy showers, if not waterfalls). By the way, Aaron you might have mentioned this: it’s not just water-proof zippers, its parts not just stitched together, they are glued/sealed

      Interesting! If there’s one thing I’ve learned answering every comment in this TH-cam channel over 3+ years it’s that this community LOVES carrying their water bottles… and so do I! Hydration on demand is awesome, plus wasting single-use plastic bottles is never ideal. Give it a try, you might like it 🫶🏽
