@@OzarkOverlandAdventures This is most of us born before 1980, and, somehow, we didn't die. Probably from all of those childhood near death experiences, not being allowed in the house during the day, drinking water from the hose, etc.
I have the ACE rock sliders on our JLUR. I live close to their shop, so I had them install. There is a torque amount for the body bolts, I believe ACE has a recommended torque number that is slightly under the manufactures. I have heard horror stories about body bolts breaking during this process. The fact that you went after it with no extra care makes me believe you haven’t heard the same horror stories, lol. I actually bought new body bolts for ACE to install with their rock sliders. After seeing the torque needed to break them loose and remove them from their loctited home, no way was I reusing them. Good job, they look great and lucky you didn’t break a bolt! Kudos for that for sure.
I had these on my JLUR too and was super careful because of all the horror stories, haven’t heard if this is an issue on the JT. I’ll probably get the for my JT when it gets here.
I installed some similar ones on my JL last weekend, and had a hell of a time with those body mount bolts. even with a breaker bar it took forever to get them loose. Lots of sweating and swearing.
I have smittybilt rails on my first JKU. They actually flexed into the body at the off road park and damaged the body. I've been against all things smittybilt armor ever since.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures thank you for sharing your personal experience with the ones I have. You have me something to think about. The last thing I want is to do body damage to my JK, I know it will eventually happen on the trails or out Overlanding but at least I can be better prepared.
I started to pull my body bolts and it broke my wrench, I got scared that the bolts might break also and ended up bringing it to a shop. I figured they would be better equipped just incase something like that happened.
i've got the other 4 videos on the channel documenting what i've done to it. Is there ever really a final stage? LOL. The next stage is the bed rack (which comes today) and getting the tent on it and then figuring how to best manage all of our gear storage for trips.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures thanks! I saw that when I rewatched the video. For some reason my phone likes to cut out and I guess I missed it the first round. Looks really good with the factory bumper in my opinion. Question - what are your thoughts if any on the eco diesel gladiator? I’ve thought about it but don’t know anyone with experience using them off-roading. Figured someone you ride with may have one or you just have an opinion of diesels in general off road.
So the mixed opinions of frame vs. body mounted rails is lengthy. The factory Rubicon rails offer some protection and also body mounted but these are more substantially mounted to the body compared to factory Rubicon rails correct? Never had issues with them on the JK being body mounted I assume?
So. After seeing your comment and not being able to sleep…I decided to find this. Here’s some takeaways. 1- WHOA!?!?!? That thing is INCREDIBLE. I WANT that!!!!!! 2- We will never have it because it’s gotta weigh a million pounds and isn’t suitable really for the travel. 3- Matt has major DIY skills but he WILL NEVER be able to do anything of this caliber. 😂
No shoes, no eye pro, no gloves, and a harbor freight corded impact. Legendary!
And somehow I’m still alive. 😂😂

Definitely didn't know about all that. LOL.

That tailgate mat is a sharp addition. Should add a lot of really useful functionality.
For the record… Matt does own shoes!
Meh
But you can't see his right foot tat if he has his shoes on.
@@rkendsley7561 😂😂
Looks good
Be VERY glad you didn't break one of those body bolts - it's happened to many.
I have heard that. Glad I didn't also!
Drivers side went on fine. Passenger, broken front. Back I’m currently hammering away at while I think about what I’m gonna do about the front.
Sully's lookin' great! ps....don't do that with no shoes on.....Hahaha. J/k! Thanks for showing us the Gladiators progress!
Thanks!! LOL
They look great. Might get those down the road for the wife’s JL
I’ve been debating extra slider protection… looks pretty good on the JT!
(For Fourth of July) She needs to get you a Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2" Compact Impact Wrench #2755-20.
It's a Beast for its size.
Would love one!!
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I carry mine full time in my JL, incase I need to replace a Tire.
Matt you need the DeWalt brushless 20v cordless impact it is awesome!
I would love one!!
Nothing like putting some sweat equity into the Jeep!

Would be great to get more updates on the grand cherokee!
We've been putting the Grand Cherokee to work. The next several trip videos are all out of the Trailhawk.
Looking good! 👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👏👏👏
Thank you!
I need some rails for my JK. I have the Smittybuilt SRC side armor built I have concerns on how they will hold up in the long run.

Reviving the comments.....are there some rail mounts you could not use due to the Rubi rails? Thank you
Where are y’all camping this weekend? June 25th-27th. We are heading up from Texas. I’ll bring the steaks if you cook them.
No camping this weekend. We will be at a friend's house chilling around their pool.
Get yourself a Dewalt flex volt impact. You won’t regret it.
I would love that!!
Why are you using your torque wrench as a breaker bar?
Because it's longer than my breaker bar and ratchets. And it's a cheap harbor freight torque wrench so if it breaks they will give me a new one. lol

I've heard of that happening. I think I got lucky!! LOL
I cant find the link for these Rock Rails in your description. Can you provide a link?
It’s just Ace Engineering Rock Sliders.

Enjoyed the video! I like that those go with that stock rock sliders! Do you have a winch in mind? If so what kind are you thinking about going with?
I already have a Warn VR10S. Fits great!

I suppose technically they are frame mounted but bolt on at the body mounts. They are definitely not mounted to the body. I may have said that wrong.
Thanks for clarifying. That helps.
you probably should have heated it up to melt the locktite
Matt check out Blake Weber’s overland kitchen build on TH-cam. Great ideas that might help with Sully.
Watching it now. Very impressive!!

You’d think they wanted those bolts to stay in or something. 😅
Matt and cara sure I’ve spelt your wife’s name wrong. As we say in the UK Sullly is looking MINT.
Thank you! and yes you spelled Cara correctly.
that poor torque wrench ...rip...
LOL. It survived. It's a cheap Harbor Freight. If it breaks I just take it back and swap it for a new one. LOL
Get a real breaker bar not a very long ratchet
I have one. I like this better. 🤷🏼♂️
Plus you sweated a bra!! Lol. I sweat a bra all the time. Lol
It happens. lol
